DROP KNOWLEDGE (NOT MICS!) Donnie has been dropping knowledge about Compassion and Community in his spoken word poems lately. So much so, that he was one of the recipients of a $1,500 scholarship through the Zachary Johnson America Heals Peace Contest!

LIL’ DRIPPY’S DEBUT asdasd has only been with us for 2 weeks but has Marvis already made a big impact. His first day in the building he started singing “Billie Jean” and we got him right in the studio and improvising some lyrics!

MINDFUL MEDITATION Youth have been taking control of their mental health, and leading the sound bowl sessions at the start of our Multimedia M2 Sessions. Lately the’ve been playing as a pair or trio, which helps their active listening to hear if one note works well with another notes, and being intentional about whether it is providing tension or release. The act of sound bowl playing can be just as trance-inducing and meditative as it is for the listeners!
MUSIC IS MY AEROPLANE The Youth have been chipping away at covering the fun (but challenging!) song “Aeroplane” by Red Hot Chilli Peppers, in honor of our new collaboration with The Chad Smith Foundation and its After-School Music Program initiative (A.M.P.). Josiah knocked it out of the park on drums, so stay tuned for our official release!
