LARENA- ROSE PETALS Larena has been visiting our studio for a long time now working under my guidance and her skills in music production have progressed very far. She doesn't normally get in the vocal booth but for this project I nudged her to try something on the microphone to add another layer to her beat and try something new.

EMILY/JADEN- E DOTTIE Emily wanted to learn how to sample so we chopped up a motown song that she picked out. Then I had her play around with the sampler over a drum groove I laid down with Jaden, and finally she got in the booth to lay down a freestyle off the top of her head for this track. She had a really good time working on this one!

Diana is new to making beats and got to spend time in our studio learning the basics of music production. I introduced her to ableton by having her pick samples that she liked and drag them into the daw. I showed her how to line them up, duplicate them out, and stack them on top of each other, then she made this hit!

SKYLAH- SKYLAH THE GOAT Skylah felt more at home in the mixing room than in the jam room, so I introduced her to ableton and we decided to make a drill beat together. She wanted to make something aggressive and energetic to represent the Bronx so we found some hard 808s and hi hats and started to piece together this beat.

SAMARIO VISITS COMMONPOINT YOUTH Samario took a break from his studio to come help our youth with an upcoming performance held in our own studio space. We jammed with Nevaeh, Zvi, Emily, and Jannelis on their favorite songs, including “Best Part” by Daniel Ceasar, and “My Way” by Katseye. They are trading off singing the vocal parts and Jannelis played along on drums.

TRADING VOCALS/LEARNING HARMONY Zvi, Nevaeh, and Heila have been stoked on singing lately and decided to sing over some karaoke tracks the other day. I challenged them to sing in two-part harmony instead of singing in unison so we chose some simple songs to practice on. It was very difficult for them at first but soon they were able to figure it out and even tried 3 part harmony next.
