CHICAGO SOUNDS In this session, DJ Slugo built the foundation of a new ghetto house track while the youth wrote in real time. The song centers on the idea of young people being too quick to grow up, blending a classic Chicago sound with a message rooted in their lived experiences.
CADETS CHOICE: GOLDEN JAM During Cadets Choice, a group of our youngest artists chose to jam to “Golden” from K-Pop Demon Hunters. Two girls took the lead on karaoke vocals while the others explored the keyboards, creating a fun, collaborative moment.

During our latest collab with Creative Netwerk,Brooklyn stepped into the booth to record her verse for a new ghetto house track alongside Chicago legend DJ Slugo. With guidance from Mike D, she worked through takes to land the perfect delivery. It was a strong moment of development during a high-level creative session

WHAT’S NEXT? The next six weeks in the studio are packed with exciting releases and moments. The Big 3 are wrapping up their upcoming album, while Baby Wild continues building his catalog with new music. We’re also gearing up for more drum covers and performance videos from Nick and new teen talent, along with upcoming showcases and collaborations.

JANAE’S INTERSHIP COMPLETION March 13th marked the completion of Janae’s 8-week Notes for Notes internship, where she gained a unique, dual-city experience working across both the Chicago and Atlanta studios. While she was hands-on in the Atlanta studio, assisting with sessions and observing day-to-day operations, she also worked closely with me virtually to develop her professional and technical audio skills, including recording, editing, and studio workflow. This hybrid experience allowed her to see multiple sides of the program while building realworld skills in music production.
OPENING THE DOORS One of the most special days in the studio this month came when teens from high schools across Chicago — including Simeon, Dunbar, and more — visited our space as part of a college and career day at the Boys & Girls Club. With a strong focus on teen recruitment this quarter, it was an exciting opportunity to introduce new faces to everything we offer in the studio. Students and staff alike were engaged, curious, and inspired by the space and programming. By the end of the visit, several students left with membership forms in hand
