A great big welcome to E! E is one of our newest members to the organization. His passion is the piano and he aspires to be a classically trained pianist. E attends a weekly lesson with N4N producer Iram Reyes where he learns about music theory, sight-reading,andconcertrepertoire.Withinamonth, E has learned how to read a musical staff, notes and rhythms, hand technique, and how to practice with a metronome.

Givens teens love to jam and it’s not unusual for the jam room to be filled with instrumentalists trading choruses. Abdullah in particular enjoys taking a solo on the F blues. He has been working hard on developingfingerdexterityovertheFminor pentatonic scale. His goal is to learn bebop vocabularyandplaychordchanges.
March was a great month for recruitment and in the picture above is another new member, Lanai! Lanai loves to sing, play drums, and produce music. And how about one last welcome to another new member, Rocco! Rocco loves the drum set but instead of learning by ear, Rocco is using a method book to learn how to read rhythms off of the musical staff. Through this book, Rocco can read complex beats and work them with a metronomeorbackingtracks.
