GRADE A VOL.1
Over two months, 12 youth came together to create something unprecedented in Power Youth history: a full-length album. Many of them didn’t know each other when the program began, but through collaboration, encouragement, and countless studio sessions, they formed a genuine bond and created an incredible body of work. Not only did this group produce more songs than any Power Youth group before them, but they also created, in my opinion, the strongest project I’ve seen throughout my years with the program. Watching their ideas evolve into a complete album has been one of the most rewarding experiences, and I couldn’t be prouder to have led the charge as Producer.
GRADE A SHOWCASE
The Grade A Showcase was the culmination of two months of creativity, collaboration, and hard work. The youth took the stage at the National Museum of African American Music, performing a full concert in the Roots Theater rather than simply presenting a showcase. Their peers, families, friends, and museum attendees all came out to support them, and the group delivered a performance full of charisma, confidence, and energy. By the end of the night, they had the entire room on their feet. It was an incredible reminder of how much young artists can grow when they’re given the space and support to truly perform.

COMMAS MUSIC VIDEO “Commas” quickly became the unofficial anthem of the Grade A collective. It was the song every member knew word for word, bar for bar, and one that perfectly captured the energy and personality of the group. Creating the music video gave the youth an opportunity to bring that same energy to a visual medium and further develop the identity they had built together. The final product is a testament to how much the group connected with the song and with each other. It also stands as one of the highest-quality music videos produced at Notes for Notes, making it a major creative milestone for the program.
GRADE A DOCUMENTARY
The Grade A Documentary takes a more playful approach to documenting the group, capturing the personalities, inside jokes, and behind-the-scenes moments that made their experience so memorable. Following the youth during the week leading up to their showcase, the film gives a look into everything that went into preparing for their biggest performance. While it’s definitely more of a satirical take than a traditional documentary, it still captures the heart and soul of the collective. From the laughs to the nerves and excitement, this project shows the camaraderie that developed between the youth and gives viewers a chance to see Grade A beyond the music.
AVILA BROTHERS X N4N Grammy-winning producers The Avila Brothers stopped by the studio before performing at Nissan Stadium with Chris Brown and Usher to share insight into the music business and give our youth tools for turning their passion into a career. After hearing a Grade A track, they decided to take the experience a step further, joining the youth for an impromptu jam session and putting their own spin on the song. Watching producing icons pick up instruments and perform a live version of music the youth created was an unforgettable moment.
