HOLIDAY KICK-OFF PERFORMANCE
As we headed into holiday break, our youth closed out the year with a special in-studio performance for both our current BGCC CEO, Susanna Wickham, and former CEO, Mimi. With Susanna stepping into her role just this June, this performance offered a powerful snapshot of the work happening inside the Notes for Notes studio, told directly through the voices and talents of our youth. They performed original songs recorded throughout 2025, showcasing not only their growth as artists, but the consistency and dedication behind the program. It was a meaningful way to reflect on the year
December was a strong close to the year for our youth, filled with collaborations, performances, and creative growth. On December 5th, our artists performed at the Martin Luther King Jr. Boys & Girls Club as part of the King Club Holiday Kick-Off, in collaboration with our longtime partners at Creative Netwerk. Hannah Banana and Baby Virgo took the stage to perform their hit single “Eenie Meenie,” continuing the incredible run the song has had since its release. It was another proud moment of youth confidence, consistency, and visibility beyond our home studio.

WATCH ME SKATE
STEPPIN' INTO THE SPOTLIGHT
On December 4th, we continued our collaboration with Creative Netwerk through a special artist visit from legendary Chicago juke and footwork producer DJ Roc. During this hands-on production and songwriting workshop, the youth worked directly with Roc to create a Chicago-style, Christmas-inspired juke beat from scratch before jumping into lyric writing. The session offered a rare opportunity to learn from a true architect of the city’s sound. In this clip, Brooklyn can be seen freestyling and workshopping ideas for what could become the song’s hook
The collaboration with DJ Roc resulted in an original track titled “Watch Me Skate,” which was selected for the annual, organization-wide Notes for Notes Christmas album. Rooted in Chicago’s juke and footwork sound, the song captures the city’s energy and influence while spotlighting our youth’s ability to represent their hometown authentically. Baby Virgo and Brookie Cookie teamed up on the track, bringing their voices and style to a project that proudly puts Chicago on display.
As we head into the new year, Hannah Banana’s talents are taking center stage as she prepares for her role as the lead in her school’s upcoming production of The Wiz this February. She’s officially in a season of locking in; rehearsing daily, strengthening her vocals, and refining her performance skills. In this clip, Hannah is practicing “Home,” one of her featured solos, showing both her dedication and her growth as a young performer. It’s inspiring to witness her confidence and artistry continue to flourish inside and beyond the studio
