Originally titled Personal Thoughts, it captures the feeling of being overlooked, yet still pushing through with honesty, reflection, and strength.

BGCM STEAK AND BURGER MOBILE STUDIO This month, N4N (Memphis) was proud to be part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis Annual Steak & Burger Event. The event brought together community leaders, supporters, and families for a night centered on connection, opportunity, and celebrating the impact of youth development programs across Memphis. Our mobile studio set up gave kids and attendees a hands-on music experience right in the middle of the action.

From laying down beats on our beat machines to experimenting with piano and guitar, participants were able to explore their creativity in a fun, welcoming environment.

FIELD TRIPS: MBA & WESTWOOD STOP BY Westwood Boys & Girls Club and Memphis Business Academy pulled up to the studio for their first-ever Notes for Notes experience—and it did not disappoint. From the moment they walked in, students were hands-on, creating, experimenting, and fully immersed in the music-making process. What started as a visit quickly turned into something bigger: confidence building, creativity unlocked, and a studio full of unforgettable first moments.

MUSIC DISCOVERY/SPOTLIGHT SESSIONS Music Discovery and Spotlight Sessions continues to lead the way as cornerstone programs, staying at the forefront of our work because of the impact they create every day. These sessions give youth the space to explore new sounds, develop their voice, and step into the spotlight with confidence—turning curiosity into creativity and moments into milestones. The growth, energy, and self-expression coming out of these experiences are exactly why these programs remain such a powerful force in the studio: April, March, February.

IMPROMPTU JAM SESSION One of the most memorable moments this month came from an impromptu jam session that started with one youth playing/learning the melody to “Jingle Bells” on the piano.

Within minutes, it grew into a full-on studio moment— another jumped on the drums, someone else grabbed a seat drum, and suddenly the whole room was locked into the rhythm. What began as a simple practice turned into pure collaboration, creativity, and joy—the kind of organic magic that makes the studio come alive.

PLAY THE NOTES, GUESS THE SONG! This new program initiative has quickly became a favorite in the studio. Using simple melodies of familiar songs, students are given the notes on paper (without the song title) and challenged to play them in order to figure it out. What seems like a game has turned into a powerful learning tool, helping build rhythm, timing, and piano skills while encouraging problem-solving and active listening. The response has been incredible, with kids fully engaged, eager to figure out each melody, and proud when they finally crack the code.
