For Arthur Ross (and his mum and dad who are in this book!)

One day our class went to a PETTING ZOO and Theo Burke said that it was probably the
because we were actually allowed to TOUCH the animals and give them little pats and strokes.

EVERYONE wanted to go straight to see the MINIATURE HORSE because we’d seen it on the ZOO MAP. But Miss Riley said that we had to follow the ROUTE and that the LLAMAS were first.
So we all went to see the LLAMAS and everyone started LAUGHING because one of them had CIRCLES around its eyes which made it look like it was wearing GLASSES. Joel Jack said that he thought

the LLAMA looked a bit like HIM and we all agreed and Joel even got his photo taken with the LLAMA so he could show his mum.
Then we went to see the GUINEA PIGS and everyone
and got a bit OBSESSED with the ORANGE one because its hair was really LONG and STRAIGHT and Sunita Ram said that that wasn’t NORMAL. Evie McIntosh got her RULER out of her backpack and measured the guinea pig’s hair and said that she was going to tell Guinness World Records because it was obviously a RECORD-BREAKING guinea pig!

That’s when Miss Riley said that it was time to leave the guinea pig IN PEACE and that it had DEFINITELY had enough pats and strokes and it was time to go and see the GOATS.
But we didn’t WANT to leave the RECORD-BREAKING guinea pig and Irfan Baxter said that there was NO POINT going to see any of the other animals because there was NO WAY they would be as good as the GUINEA PIGS.

But we were WRONG because the goats had BEARDS and we even got to comb them with a special little GOAT-BEARD COMB and feed them LETTUCE.

Everyone LOVED the GOATS and we couldn’t wait to see the rest of the animals because this was obviously some sort of SPECIAL PETTING ZOO with really EXTRAORDINARY animals (which means animals that are amazing and not like other animals).
So we followed the MAP all the way to the LAMBS. And when we got there everyone said, “Awwwww!” because they were really cute. But they didn’t have super-long hair OR beards and they weren’t really doing anything except standing still and staring at us.
So that’s when Miss Riley said it was time for our PACKED LUNCHES and that we could sit at the picnic benches next to the lambs.
Sunita Ram asked if there were any picnic benches next to the GUINEA PIGS and if we could go there instead but Miss Riley shook her head and pointed to the map and said that this was the OFFICIAL PICNIC
. And we all knew that Sunita had asked because the lambs were a bit
.
