Nosy Crow is a new independent company, creating and publishing children’s books and apps.

This little brochure’s about the 27 books – our first – that we’ll be publishing in 2011 (if you want to know about our apps, please ask for our apps brochure). These range from touch-and-feel board books for tiny babies to ‘romantasy’ novels for pre-teens. We’re publishing debut writers and illustrators, and more established creative talents, like Axel Scheffler and Penny Dale.

We’re a team with decades of experience between us: Kate Wilson, Camilla Reid, Kate Burns and Stephanie Amster have all held senior positions at Macmillan Children’s Books, Scholastic UK, Orchard, Walker Books, Kingfisher and HarperCollins. We’re enjoying bringing our skills and professionalism to a different kind of environment: smaller-scale, personal, responsive… and fun!

All of us are parents, and we bring that experience to our publishing decisions too: we have a clear sense of the potential reader for every book we publish. We also recognise the importance of appealing to parents, given that very few books are bought by children for themselves.
