Coastal Challengers Honoured at Carrow Road WALKERS FROM THIS YEAR’S CSF COASTAL WALK CHALLENGE WERE ACKNOWLEDGED FOR THEIR EFFORTS BEFORE THE CROWD AT CITY’S LAST HOME GAME. They were welcomed on to the pitch at half-time during the Bristol City fixture for a presentation and photo. The group, which included walkers and team leaders, were part of the 85-strong team who tackled the challenge in June. The sixth annual walk saw the hikers walk 47 miles between Hunstanton and Cromer in 24 hours, raising over £30,000 for the Foundation. Among the guests were the game’s Community Heroes - Ann Waller, Michael Sharman, Mark Jones, Mark Filby, Gavin Boast, Kevin Hickman and Guy Paterson - who completed the coastal walk in memory of their friend.

a pleasure to be reunited with our walkers. We wanted to make sure they were publicly recognised for the incredible amount they put themselves through in June, and the reception they got from the crowd was fantastic.

Michael Peek, who sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer last year aged just 48, was a City season ticket holder and attended every game before he became ill.

“The challenge is both mentally and physically gruelling, so the opportunity for the walkers to reflect on their achievements a couple of months down the line was great.”

The group raised £5,000 towards the total and, in a poignant moment, were given the honour of bringing out the game’s match ball prior to kick-off. As well as giving the walkers the deserved limelight for their efforts, the evening also gave them the chance to reunite with their former team-mates and participants. One of the walkers, Norwich City FC Director Thomas Smith, spoke of his admiration for the whole team’s efforts. He had particular praise
