Scholarships are available for any student with music or theatre experience who wants to continue performing.

No matter what your major is, you’re welcome to make music at Northwestern. Scholarships are available for vocalists and instrumentalists, including students who play strings or keyboard instruments. Award decisions are based on application, recommendations and an audition.

Theatre scholarships are also available to all Northwestern students with an interest in one or more areas of theatre (acting, scenery, lighting, costuming, properties, directing, stage or house management). Decisions are based on an application, recommendations, and an audition or interview.

Notable performances § In May 2018, Northwestern’s Symphonic Band was the state’s only small-college band selected to perform at the Iowa Bandmasters Association conference. § Every year Northwestern theatre students perform at the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival, regularly winning acclaim for their acting, design and playwriting. § Northwestern’s professors are master performers themselves. Music professors have composed music, released CDs, and conducted and performed with ensembles around the world. Our theatre professors have written award-winning plays and had roles as performers and designers in numerous productions—from elaborately-staged musicals to one-person shows.
