Placement Testing Dates (K-9th grades): Tuesdays: 12/7/21, 1/25/22, 2/22/22, 3/29/22, 4/12/22, 5/10/22, 6/14/22, 7/12/22, 8/2/22 *Sign-up for placement testing after December 1, 2021 via your student portal account. Testing times: December through May are 3:30pm. Testing June-August is 9:00am. $30 online testing fee per student required. Testing between Sept. and Nov. is handled on an individual basis, as space permits. K-5 Online students take an online placement test via a portal link and do NOT need to attend in-person, group testing. *NCS has more qualified applicants each year than openings in most grades and cannot guarantee enrollment or waitlist position by date of application. NCS considers many factors when accepting new students including: church/community involvement, written parent testimony, doctrinal/parent agreement, academic records, prior teacher and NCS faculty recommendations, family size, alumni status, sibling enrollment status, NCS employee status, application completeness, family interview, placement testing, classroom space, student conduct, and attendance records. Qualified students that remain on the waitlist in August may have an opportunity to enroll during the school year should an opening occur. Waitlisted applications are not automatically carried over into the following school year and must be renewed in January by sending a written request to: Michelle Reddy, Director of Admissions, mreddy@ncsaz.org. A prior year waitlist status does not guarantee enrollment the following year. Students with D/F grades on a recent report card or conduct infractions may need to wait one full year to become eligible for enrollment. Students with IEP/504 plans should upload a copy into the enrollment portal for an NCS Principal to review before applying to the school. TO REQUEST INFORMATION, SCHEDULE A CAMPUS TOUR OR TO SUBMIT A NEW STUDENT APPLICATION: Go to www.ncsaz.org, select “Admissions” and then either “Apply Now” or “Get Info/Inquire Now”. The mission of Northwest Christian School is to provide a Bible-based program of education which enables students to develop a Christian worldview.
Academic Program: All students are guided towards further education at post-secondary institutions upon completion of high school. Ninety-three percent of the Class of 2019 enrolled in either two or four-year colleges, one percent joined the armed services, and two percent went into the workforce. Graduation Requirements: NCS requires 26 specific requirements to graduate. The requirements are: four credits each of English, Bible, and Math; three credits each of Social Studies and Lab Science; three and one-half credits of General Electives; one and one-half credit of Technology; one credit each of a Foreign Language, Physical Education, and a Fine Art. Calculating the GPA: The formula Northwest Christian School uses to calculate the cumulative GPA is based on equating percentages with a quality point. The quality points used by NCS are: Grading Scale 98 – 100 93 – 97 93-100 90 – 92 87 – 89 83 – 86 80 – 82

*The graduating class of 2019 and beyond will only go up to 4.0 (5.0 for honors). A= 93-100 worth 4.0 points, everything else remains the same. To calculate the GPA, the semester grade for each class is equated to one of the above quality points. The additional quality point for a 5.33 class (5.0 for 2019 and beyond) is added after all quality points have been totaled. The total quality points are divided by the number of classes that have been taken for credit. The final result is the GPA (grade point average). At the end of each semester, the GPA is recalculated for the cumulative grade point average.

What space is available for NCS Students to use before and after school?
Early Ed and Kindergarten : Before and After School Extended Care is available in the Early Ed facility for Early Ed and Kindergarten students before school from 7:30 to 8:30 and after school from 3:00 to 5:30. This is a licensed program and requires the student be registered before attending. There is a cost for Extended Care. Please contact the Early Education office for information.
Elementary: Before and After School Before School: There are two places our First through Fifth graders may safely stay before school. The Elementary Library is open from 7:30 until school begins each day. This space allows First t through Fifth Grade students to study and take AR tests before school. The Elementary Playground is supervised for student from 7:30 to 8:00 each day. Parents may drop off students as early as 7:30 AM for the school day which begins at 8:00. After School: There are four options for students at the end of the school day. In the elementary program students are not allowed to wander the campus without a parent, secondary sibling or identified adult. Students that are alone will be walked to the elementary office and parents are contacted. Students are to be picked up from their Classrooms by a parent, secondary sibling or identified adult no later than 3:15 each day. Students are walked by an aide to a scheduled ASAP program on its scheduled day. Parents are expected to pick their children up at the end of the ASAP program. Students who are not picked up are walked to the elementary office and parents are contacted. Students are walked to Extended Care by an aide. Extended Care is a licensed program. Parents are required to register their child for Extended Care before the child can attend the program. Extended Care is available form 3:00 to 5:30 and there is a cost for the program. Please contact the Early Education office for more information as that office administrates the After School Extended Care program for K – 5 students. Students may utilize the Elementary Library from 3:00 to 4:00 each day. Elementary students must be accompanied by a parents, secondary sibling or identified adult while in the library after school. This time is dedicated for AR testing, tutoring, studying and research. The Elementary Library closes at 4:00 daily.
Secondary: Before and After School Before School: Secondary Students can utilize the Teen Space before school Tuesdays through Friday from 7:00 to 7:45. The Teen Space is located in Room 120 and is staffed by an NCS staff member. The Teen Space is available for studying, research, tutoring and homework. WAYS YOU CAN AFFORD A CHRISTIAN EDUCATION 2021-2022 PRIVATE SCHOOL TUITION TAX CREDITS (Individual and Switcher Programs) An Arizona resident for 2021, may donate up to $2,435 (for married taxpayers filing a joint tax return) or $1,219 (for single taxpayers and married couples filing separately) to a private school tuition tax credit organization or STO (up to their Arizona State tax liability). Many STO’s allow donors to recommend a student for STO consideration of an award by listing a student name and anticipated school on the application. Donors can take a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on their Arizona state tax return for that tax year. All donations must be received before April 15th in order to receive a tax credit for the previous year. You cannot recommend your own child, and you must re-apply every year by the organization’s stated deadline. The guidelines and prerequisites of awards are based on several factors. Review the “STO Tax Credits At A Glance” handout to determine your eligibility. It may be possible for both new and current NCS families to qualify for “switcher” funding (also known as PLUS or Overflow) in certain circumstances. Additional verification paperwork may be required to verify eligibility for “switcher” funding. Out of state donors are welcome to make a donation to an STO, but they will not receive a tax credit. Although there are 80+ individual Arizona tax credit organizations in Arizona, NCS works with a specific group of STO’s and the list changes annually. Each STO has their own timeline and application process. Families seeking tuition assistance may apply to more than one organization. Several are listed below. CORPORATE TAX DOLLARS (Low Income Student Program) Families may apply for corporate tax dollars if your student is entering kindergarten at NCS or is a 1st-12th grade student transferring to NCS from an AZ school (public, charter, or Arizona funded on-line program), or is a child of an active military guardian, or received a prior corporate or individual tax credit scholarship in the prior school year while being continually enrolled at a private school. Your income must not exceed 185% of the income limit to qualify a child for reduced lunches under the National School Lunch and School Act (see chart on reverse; right hand column). The majority of Arizona families, approximately 58%, qualify by income for this program. Applying early is advantageous as most applications are due in mid-late spring prior to the school year that begins in August. NCS families who are connected with an Arizona C-Corp. or S-Corp. are invited to learn more about making a corporate tax credit donation. There are 80+ Arizona Tax Credit Organizations that process corporate tuition scholarships and families are encouraged to seek out the various organizations below to learn more about corporate scholarship opportunities. Current NCS families that meet the financial “means test” AND receive a corporate scholarship, may become eligible for Switcher/Overflow/PLUS individual tax credits in the following school-year. Current NCS families that have received a prior tuition assistance award in any current year, and have been consistently enrolled in an AZ private school, may qualify for corporate tuition assistance if income meets the income guidelines. KINDERGARTEN - Tax credits may be “banked” for an upcoming kindergarten student up to 8-12 months prior to the start of kindergarten, depending on the policies of the STO. There are more scholarship opportunities for incoming kindergarten students than at any other point. Receiving a tuition assistance award in ANY amount during the kindergarten school year is critical in securing a “switcher” status through 12th grade and in gaining eligibility for low-income corporate scholarships in a future year. Scheduling a personal consultation with the NCS admissions department before March of your student’s PreK year is advised.
SHOP WITH SCRIP – SWS There is a one-time fee of $10 to register for this program at the main school office. Families shop on-line and choose from hundreds of gift cards with rebates of 1.5%-15%, depending on retailer. Based on historical data and other factors, SWS reports a national average rebate of 5%. On-line orders for gift cards are placed by Monday morning and are available for pick-up in the main office on Fridays. Many of the cards are reloadable making it more convenient for frequent users. There is also a “Scrip NOW” option that allows many gift cards to be ordered as e-gift cards that are available for immediate use by printing or scanning of your mobile device. Families use gift cards like cash at local stores, restaurants, and on-line websites. Rebates are applied twice per year to tuition accounts.
ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION “EMPOWERMENT SCHOLARSHIP ACCOUNT (ESA) This scholarship is designed for qualifying preschool through 12th grade students. (IEP/504/MET, former wards of the State/Foster Care, active military/hearing or vision-impaired parents/guardians, or D/F rated public school transfer, etc.) Recipients of the ESA cannot combine their award with any other type of tuition support, including tax credits.. REFERRAL PROGRAM Current NCS families that refer a new family may be eligible to receive a $500 (new K-12 family) or $100 (new preschool family) referral tuition credit for each new family successfully referred and enrolled per confirmation from the financial department. The number of new families a current family can refer is unlimited. Qualifying referral tuition credits are applied to the referring family in the second semester of which the new family is enrolled. The finance department considers several qualifying factors when considering the authenticity of a new family referral.

Since 2004, AZTO has issued over $30 Million in tuition awards to students attending our partner schools through Arizona’s Private School Tuition Tax Credit Program. How it Works • The tax credit law allows you to promote this program to benefit your student’s tuition to your network of family and friends, anyone who pays Arizona income taxes.

• You can create a custom Student Landing Page on AZTO’s Student Portal that can be shared via social media or email. More resources, a recorded tax credit workshop, brochures, a whiteboard animation video, and a Facebook link may also be found at azto.org. • The taxpayer may make a recommended donation to AZTO, suggesting your student for a tuition award. Donations are accepted online at azto.org or by mail with a Donation Form. • As AZTO receives tax credit contributions recommending your Pre-K student, the pending award will be held at AZTO for your student’s kindergarten school year. • Once AZTO approves the recommended award, it will be issued to your student’s school at the first award cycle for your child’s kindergarten school year. Your student must have an approved 2022-2023 AZTO Application on file. Then, the award is typically issued in July.
Eligibility and Restrictions • Kindergarten students are eligible for both the Original and PLUS/Overflow Credit Programs. • Restrictions apply to kindergarten students that are NOT age 5 by January 1st of their kindergarten year, high income households, and ESA recipients. • Donation Swapping is strictly prohibited. Also, parents may not make a recommended donation on behalf of their own student.

Contribution Information • Arizona allows taxpayers to make dollar-for-dollar tax credit donations to AZTO to benefit students. • AZTO accepts donor recommendations. However, AZTO maintains complete and sole discretion in allocating awards. All tax credit donations are confidential. • Donors use their AZTO receipt to claim the credit when filing their annual Arizona income taxes. • For tax year 2021, the giving deadline is April 15th, 2022.

Registration Refund Policy Registration and re-registration fees are non refundable.
Tuition Payment Policy The Early Education program runs from August-May (10 months); however, the tuition for Early Education students is divided into eleven monthly payments. The first payment is due on August 1 and the last payment is due on or before June 1. Any payment received after the seventh of the month will be considered late and the account will be assessed a $25 late charge. If account becomes more than 60 days past due, student may not be allowed to attend class until account is current. There is a $25 charge on all checks returned by the bank. If annual tuition is paid in full by the first day of school, the family will receive a three percent discount. Revised 1/10/22
