Re -Story
Re -Story Re-Story is Retold’s first collection using reclaimed fabric, created in partnership with sustainability consultancy Layer, with the shared goal of reducing waste and ensuring every garments’ story gets told. Upcycling designer Bethany Williams helped to bring Retold’s reworked vision to life, transforming vintage pieces which Clare, Retold’s Founder, carefully sourced and curated into a limited collection of day-to-night, unique yet functional wardrobe staples. Each garment from the collection previously belonged to Retold’s customers, with cherished memories detailed in the following pages. The drive behind the collection was Clare’s desire to work towards a more thoughtful fashion industry and promote sustainable shopping habits. Inspired by natural beauty, the collection demonstrates that embracing imperfection creates perfection. Re-Story represents opportunity, giving discarded materials and pre-loved garments a new lease of life, after being forgotten about in the depths of a warehouse, hidden away like the fashion industry’s untold secret. Sophisticated upcycling embodies the fruits of Retold and Layer’s labour, demonstrating that wearing waste doesn’t compromise style. The rich red and gold tones of the reclaimed fabrics compliment the neutral palette of beige and white, elevating the look and providing a vintage refresh. The collection features statement pieces which will easily transcend through seasons. The reclaimed fabric accentuates the detail and style features of the original garments, clean lines blurred by a 1950s selvedge edge. Contemporary styles with a nostalgic nod to the past, the relaxed tailoring and crisp silhouettes set the perfect canvas for the texture and drape of the reclaimed fabric.
