Northumbria University has two campuses in Newcastle – City Campus and Coach Lane Campus. Please make sure you check which Campus the subjects that you are interested in are held at. If the subjects that you are interested in are at City Campus, you are on the correct side of the Programme. If you are interested in any of the following subject areas, these are at Coach Lane Campus, so please turn the Programme over for further information on your Subject, General Sessions and Tours.
There is lots on offer at both campuses so you won’t miss out. There is also a free shuttle bus between City Campus and Coach Lane Campus running on the day if you would like to see both campuses (see page 7).

How to Make the Most of Your Day Check-in * Register and collect your Open Day programme on arrival, then take a look around the Central Exhibition. As there is so much to see we recommend that you arrive early, Registration and the Central Exhibition are open from 09.00. * You can register at either our City or Coach Lane Campus – check which is most relevant to the subjects you are interested in.

Subject Information Discover more about the course you are interested in and talk to academics on the Department stand in the Central Exhibition. Accommodation All students are guaranteed a room in our student accommodation; speak to our Accommodation Team in the Central Exhibition to find out more. Chat to Students Talk to our Event Reps about what it is like to be a current student living and studying here. They are on hand to guide you around the Campus and answer your questions; they are in black t-shirts with Ask Me on the front.
Take a Break Have a bite to eat in one of our catering outlets (see page 13), or there is complimentary tea and coffee available in the Central Exhibition at City Campus, or Reception at Coach Lane Campus. Facilities Check out our fantastic facilities with tours of the Campus, Clinical Skills Centre, Sport Central and Students’ Union. Support Services Speak to our specialist staff who offer a range of support services to our students, including student funding and disability support, all situated in the Central Exhibition.
More than a Degree See what activities you can take part in outside of your studies, including volunteering, placements, part-time work, clubs and societies. Advice Come along to our General Sessions for advice on topics like Student Finance. See the City City Campus is a 5-minute walk from the city centre, take a walk in to town after you have attended the Open Day.
We are committed to keeping all staff, students and visitors as safe as possible whilst on campus and continue to follow the Government and DfE Covid-19 advice and guidance. The University therefore encourages staff, students and visitors to: • Be respectful of others’ personal space. • Wear face coverings inside buildings when moving around and when in close proximity to others. • Follow the one-way systems. • Regularly wash and sanitise your hands. Hand sanitising stations are available in the entrance to buildings and enhanced cleaning measures remain in place.

Getting Here South, Scotland and other major routes across the country. The A69 heads west to Carlisle, the Lake District and, via the M6, Wales and the West of England. City Campus is situated in the heart of Newcastle city centre, follow the signs for City Centre and A167. Coach Lane Campus is approximately 3.5 miles from the city centre via the A1058 Coast Road and Red Hall Drive. Newcastle has excellent transport links from across the UK and globally, by road, rail, air and sea. Once in Newcastle we have an extensive public transport system, which includes the Metro, Tyneside’s urban light railway system. Travelling by Road The A1 passes through Newcastle, linking the area to London and the 6
Parking City Campus – on Saturday we have access to the University car parks free of charge, the main one being City Campus East, postcode NE1 2SU. Alternatively we have Camden Street – NE2 1XE, Day Street – NE1 8SU or Sport Central – NE1 8QD.
City Centre pay and display car parks close by include: • John Dobson Street – NE1 8HL – validate your ticket at our Security stand in the Central Exhibition in Sport Central for a discounted rate. • MEA House – NE1 8SX • College Street – NE1 8JG • Civic Centre – NE2 1DF • Manors – NE1 2LA Coach Lane Campus – on Saturday we have access to the car park at Coach Lane Campus East free of charge. The nearest postcode is NE7 7TR, but this will guide you to a nearby housing estate, so as you get close please follow the signs to the University.
Four Lane Ends Metro, postcode NE7 7TG, also has a large car park and is a 10-minute walk to the Campus. Alternatively you could park in the city centre and take our free shuttle bus from City Campus to Coach Lane Campus. Travelling by Rail Newcastle Central Station is on a number of main rail lines, including LNER, TransPennine, Cross Country and Northern. To reach City Campus by foot will take approximately 15-minutes, alternatively we have a shuttle bus between 08.30 and 11.00 from Central Station to City Campus, or you can take the Metro to Haymarket. To reach Coach Lane Campus take the Metro to Four Lane Ends which is then a 10-minute walk to the Campus.
Travelling by Air Newcastle International Airport is 7 miles from the city centre, and connected via the Metro from Airport to Haymarket for City Campus, or to Four Lane Ends (changing at South Gosforth) for Coach Lane Campus.
Shuttle Buses You can travel between City Campus and Coach Lane Campus free of charge on our shuttle bus on the day. Buses depart from City Campus East (see on the map on page 9) between 08.30 and 15.30 every 20‑30 minutes. The last bus back to City Campus East from Coach Lane Campus East leaves at 15.30. Please allow up to 25 minutes for your journey.
