OUR STORY Our founder, Jen Sensenig, was doing her errands on Route 30 when she observed human trafficking taking place in our community. Instead of turning a blind eye, she got involved, helping authorities to shut down a trafficking ring operating in Lancaster County. Jen quickly realized survivors had nowhere in the area where they could access healing services. This is how North Star began. The Harbor Home opened to survivors in 2017. It is a long-term restoration home with capacity to serve 8-10 residents. The Harbor Home provides the extensive, holistic, and Jesus-centered care and services that survivors need to heal from complex trauma. In January of 2023, we opened the Survivor Center, a dedicated office space for staff, as well as a place where survivors receive therapy, counseling and other services. We provide awareness, advocacy and education to the surrounding community regarding human trafficking and how people can get involved to stop this horrendous crime. In 2024, we are launching new programming to expand the continuum of care for survivors at every stage on the journey towards healing.
