Bermuda makes a beautiful wedding day backdrop, that much is for certain. Whether you’re planning a destination wedding or you’re a Bermudian preparing for your big day on your home island, here is some need-to-know info.

• File a Notice of Intended Marriage form with the Registrar General at least 15 days and no more than three months prior to the wedding day. If you download the form, it must be printed on legal-size paper — 8.5" x 14". Fill out the form and mail it to The Registrar

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT YOUR SPECIAL DAY IS ABOUT YOU AND YOUR BETROTHED.

• Civil ceremonies are performed by the Registrar General in a special marriage room at the Registry General Office on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Civil ceremonies require an additional fee of $260. Two witnesses are required for every ceremony. Registry General staff are available to act as witnesses on weekdays, but you must inform the office of your need for witnesses when you confirm your marriage appointment. For Saturday ceremonies, you must bring your own witnesses.
