Where I live: I’ve lived in North Sydney for 15 years
I start my day…taking my two dogs for a walk either to Waverton Park or to Sawmillers Reserve in McMahons Point. I’ll grab a coffee on my way to work from Piato or Breadworks on Blues Point Road if I catch the ferry or the Two Good Kiosk at Victoria Cross if I get the Metro. Leible is also a great local coffee spot.
My top brunch spot is…Charlie and Franks on Walker Street. I love that it’s open on Sundays. I’ll order their sweetcorn fritters which come with avo, herbs, a poached egg and delicious zataar roasted tomatoes.
If I’m heading for a drink I’ll go to…RAFI on Mount Street for a negroni or a fragola fizz or Sol Bread and Wine on Walker Street for a Thomas shiraz and a plate of their seared bonito with shiso. The fried olives at Poetica deserve a special mention for outstanding bar snacks.
My fave place for dinner is… RAFI. The South Coast tuna and the toothfish are always exceptional and the service is excellent. They have a great group menu as well.
A hidden gem locally is… the Royal Art Society in Lavender Bay for its free exhibitions.
On the weekend…I’ll go for a run around Balls Head Reserve and The Coal Loader then grab a croissant and coffee from Toiture de Boulangerie on Union Street and head to the Northside Produce Market in Ted Mack Civic Park.
My fave local takeaway is… Glorietta. We’ll order a Verdure pizza topped with tomato, capsicum, olives, asparagus, artichoke and ricotta and get their tiramisu for dessert. St Honore’s butter chicken pie is pretty special too!
