Dear College Families,
May the peace and hope of Christ fill your homes.
As we come to the close of this school year, I have been reflecting with deep gratitude on my first year as Principal. What a year it has been - a year strongly marked by connection. We have grown together in our connection with God, our understanding of ourselves, and our care and service toward others. This has not simply been a theme; it has become a lived experience across our College community.
In many special ways, this year has been shaped by the words of Jesus in Mark 12:30–31: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength… and love your neighbour as yourself.” This Scripture has anchored and guided us within our community.
Throughout the year, we have witnessed significant achievements - academically, spiritually, culturally, and organisationally. This term in particular has been filled with moments that reveal the heart of our College: students leaning into challenge and growth, particularly those completing exams; staff stepping up with dedication and grace; families supporting their children and partnering with us in such meaningful ways. These milestones are not just accomplishments - they are signs of God’s favour and the fruit of our community working together.
I am especially thankful for our Parents and Friends group, the many parent volunteers, and our faithful Prayer Group, all of whom serve with such care and generosity. Your contribution is seen and deeply appreciated. To our staff, thank you for rising to every situation placed before you this year. Your commitment to our students and to one another has been a cornerstone of our shared success. And to our students, thank you for your enthusiasm, resilience, effort, and the joy you bring to our College daily.
We also take a moment to commend and farewell our Year 12 Graduates. We are incredibly proud of the way they have led, served, and represented our College this year. Their perseverance, character, and sense of community have been an inspiration. As they step into new pathways and opportunities, our prayer is that they carry with them strong foundations in faith, integrity, and purpose. We bless them as they go, confident that God will continue to guide their steps.
One of the most significant spiritual moments of our year was our three-week season of One Heart and One Spirit - a time of prayer and fasting that brought us together with humility and expectancy before God. Throughout these weeks it has been particularly special to see the students praying and engaging together and we have experienced His leading, His unity, and His strengthening of our spiritual culture. We have already begun to see the outcomes of this time: a renewed sense of purpose, deeper alignment, and a fresh openness to what God is shaping in and through us. As we look ahead to 2026, we are doing so with excitement and clarity. Next year marks the launch of our refreshed two-sub-school structure - Primary and Secondary - which will strengthen continuity for students, deepen pastoral and academic support, and create clearer pathways for growth. This structure positions us for the next season of flourishing, ensuring our College continues to be a place where students thrive and Christ is honoured.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to our College Committee of Management (CoM) and to Ps Raff Marcucci for his leadership, wisdom, and encouragement throughout this year. Their support has been instrumental in guiding our mission and stewarding our vision with integrity.
To our families: thank you for trusting us and believing in the heart and mission of our College. It is a privilege to partner and walk this journey with you.
As we enter the Christmas season, may the peace and hope of Christ fill your homes. I pray that the break ahead is refreshing, joy-filled, and restorative for every family.
With much gratitude and blessing,
Ms Jacqui Munro Principal

The Preps had a lot to say about our visiting fire fighters!
Noah: I liked spraying the water.
Elle: We sprayed the water.
Samuel: I sprayed the water and it made a rainbow.

Gabriella: I liked playing in the truck. I like the fire people now because they put out house fires.
Tumi: I liked the hoses.

On 13th November the Year 5 classes went on an excursion to the Old Melbourne Gaol! As soon as I stepped out of the bus, a breeze hit my face, the lights from buildings were shining and we all seemed like ants next to them. That’s how I know, we are in the city. When everyone came out of the bus, our teachers led us to some big stairs to sit on. While sitting, group by group, we all got to go to 7-11 to get slurpees!
We saw a bunch of shops while walking to the Old Melbourne Gaol. We even passed an area which I like to call ‘Rich People Alley’. We passed Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Mecca, Uggs and so much more! Passing through ‘Rich People Alley’ was really fun, but as soon as we stepped in the Old Melbourne Gaol, I knew that there was no messing around here. I mean, we were stepping on the ground where thousands of men and women were dying or suffering on THIS ground. Our instructor led us to the jail room. We saw Ned Kelly’s armour and he told us, when a prisoner dies, they mould his head and keep it on display and we saw Ned Kelly’s ACTUAL mould!
It was very interesting to see and kind of creepy. Then after, the teachers let us explore on our own and we decided to go to the most haunted floor in the entire jail. The 2nd floor. . . As soon as we stepped into one of the cells, I could tell there was a smell. And NOT a good one. We saw the beds that they would be sleeping in, which isn’t an actual bed. It was a particularly thin mattress with a bunch of holes and stains, which didn’t look very. . . good.
At the end, we learnt so much knowledge and details about the Old Melbourne Gaol. There were so many interesting facts that we didn’t know about and I think I could actually put myself in the prisoner ’s shoes!

We had an incredible time at our Year 3 camp! Students took part in exciting activities including the flying fox, low ropes, bush cooking and rock climbing. One of the highlights was our beach visit, where everyone enjoyed making amazing sand sculptures of animals. To finish off our fun-filled days, we watched a great movie together and had a good night’s sleep after all the adventures.
Ms Melissa Schepis Primary School Teacher

Students visited the Melbourne Zoo to explore connections between our class novel, The One and Only Ivan, and our History unit on how technology has changed over time. During the excursion, they considered how enclosures, animal care and zoo practices have evolved, helping them deepen their understanding of both the text and the technological developments that shape modern zoos.

The 2025 Year 6 Graduation was a joyful and deeply meaningful evening for all students. Once everyone had arrived, the Year 6 cohort spent time signing each other’s graduation koalas and reflecting on how quickly the year had passed, all while sharing cake and conversation.
At Encompass Church, the ceremony began with students walking in together and taking their seats on stage. As a united group, they sang with one heart, praising God and celebrating the journey He has led them on throughout their primary years.
Students cheered enthusiastically as their peers received awards, celebrating one another ’s achievements. Smiles filled the room as each student shook hands with Mr Drowley for their graduation photo. Laughter followed as past photos were shared on screen, reminding everyone of how far they had come and ensuring that every student felt seen and valued on this special night.
The cohort listened respectfully as teachers and Pastor Raff prayed over them, offering words of wisdom grounded in faith, courage and trust in God’s plan for their future. There were moments of joyful tears as students recognised both their growth and the exciting journey that still lies ahead.
It was a memorable, hope-filled, and truly unforgettable evening — a celebration of God’s goodness and the remarkable milestone reached by the 2025 Year 6 students.

On Monday 20th October, Year 6CV students participated in the Cybermarvel 2025 | Rise Up: Showing Responsibility & Integrity Online webinar, hosted by Sam from the Cyber Safety Project. Throughout the webinar, Sam taught us multiple ways and methods to keep ourselves and others in our community safe when interacting with the Internet. He also taught us how to act and respond in practical situations, giving us multiple examples to enhance our thinking. We were taught some essential settings to activate and deactivate when playing video games, how to stand up for what was right and what we believe. The acronym R.I.S.K was explained and has been designed to align with values that we must display when online and interacting with friends, our community, etc. Students were also asked questions to entice our thoughts around our technology use and how to stay safe online. This was a valuable session for all students and one we are thankful to continue to discuss and unpack together
Aaron - Year 6 Student
The Year 6CV class have been doing a few different things to help us grow in our faith this year, while also learning how to share this with others. We have been taking time to be still in God’s presence, reading His word and applying His truth to our lives. In the past few weeks we have seen nine people from our class make either first time decisions for Christ or rededicate their lives to Him, with some students speaking with their parents about getting baptised.
To be equipped to share our faith with others we have been learning a method of evangelism called the “Three Circles.” We have even had a go and practised this in the school yard during our breaks, which has been so exciting. On Fridays, we spend time praying for our leaders — people like Anthony Albanese, Jacinta Allen, Ms Munro, Mrs Eng and Mr Drowley. We pray that they will come to know Jesus, and if they already know Him, that they would grow even closer to Him and walk in wisdom with Him.
Emmanuel - Year 6 Student
From Monday 17th – Thursday 20th November, our Year 6 students travelled to Canberra for their annual camp. This was a historic moment for Northside, as it was the first time a Year 6 cohort travelled by plane—bringing an extra layer of excitement and adventure for all.
The purpose of this camp is to deepen students’ understanding of Australia’s history, politics and economics—areas that help us appreciate the blessings and responsibilities of living in this nation. Alongside rich academic learning, the camp also nurtured teamwork, independence and servant-hearted leadership as students stepped beyond their normal routines and embraced life in community.
Throughout the week, students visited Parliament House, the High Court of Australia, the Australian War Memorial, Mt Stromlo Observatory, and several other significant locations that tell the story of our nation. At each site, students were encouraged to reflect on what it means to lead with humility, courage and compassion, grounded in Jesus’ instruction to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength—and to love your neighbour as yourself” (Mark 12:30–31).
Our students engaged earnestly, asked thoughtful questions, and represented our College with grace and kindness. Their reflections speak for themselves:
“My highlight was visiting Parliament House because we learnt all about the Senate and the Upper House. Not many people get to see these parts of our nation—it was a unique opportunity.”
— Darren, Year 6CV
“I loved Mt Stromlo. It was amazing seeing all the scientific inventions and actually standing at an observatory—not just hearing about one.”
— Anaia, Year 6JL
We are deeply grateful for God’s protection, provision, and the growth we witnessed as students learned, served, and encouraged one another throughout the week.
Ms Christie Vaughn Primary School Teacher

Students from our College have recently undertaken an education tour of the national capital. During this tour, students participated in a variety of educational programs focused on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government provided funding of $45.00 per student to our school under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program. This rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

Years 7 and 8 students participated in an engaging Kung Fu incursion led by the instructors Sifu Damien and Sifu Leon from Empower Tactical, as part of their Chinese Language and Culture program.
The session was designed purely as a physical experience, focusing on discipline, respect and focus. Many students commented that it was exciting to experience a different aspect of Chinese culture through movement and physical activity. Students especially liked the fun experience of feeling like Kung Fu Panda as they practised punches, kicks and coordination drills. The incursion helped them connect classroom learning with real-world cultural experiences in an enjoyable and memorable way.

The Vocational Major students from the Personal Development Skills class planned a lunchtime event where they sold Zooper Doopers and chips for $1 each. Students could also dress as their favourite toy from childhood or wear a bright colour and donate a gold coin to help kids who don’t have toys to play with. The fundraiser raised almost $700, which the class then used to buy toys to donate to the Encompass Care Christmas Drive, helping families and children in need.

On Friday 21st November, our graduating class of 2025 and their families gathered together for a wonderful evening celebrating the achievements of these amazing students. It was a lovely time of thanksgiving for our Northside community, and the staff very much enjoyed seeing the students relaxed and happy once all their final exams were completed! We were blessed to hear from select students about their journeys at Northside, as well as reminisce with families about the experience of supporting their child completing VCE. We give thanks to God for His blessing on our school, and for the young people He has led here over the years. While it is bittersweet to say goodbye, we wish our graduating students all the best for their futures and can’t wait to hear what God has in store for them!

Bandanna Day was on Thursday 30th October, and personally, it was such a pleasure to see so many people from Prep to Year 12 wearing bandannas and showing their support. The whole day was a wonderful success, and together we raised $1067. This money goes to canteen, a organisation who raise money for treatment for cancer. It was wonderful for everyone who bought a bandanna to have such enthusiasm while donating. It was also so amazing to see everyone full of life celebrating Bandanna Day.
Student leaders want to express a huge thank you to everyone who participated in Bandanna Day and thank you to anyone who donated, too. Another big thank you to the student leadership team that made this initiative come alive and for available to sell bandannas and being flexible. As the project leader, it is always a pleasure to see the whole student leadership team be so dedicated to the initiatives that we run throughout the year. We hope that the students really enjoyed the day!

What an amazing day Light Day was! Our whole school came together to support the Church Missionary Society (CMS), and we did it in style. Students rocked up in their brightest outfits, raising money to help people around the world hear about God’s love. The day kicked off with a special Devotion for our Primary School students, followed by a powerful Worship session at lunchtime, where everyone joined in singing and celebrating together.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated and took part, and an even bigger shoutout to our incredible Student Leadership Team for running the day so smoothly. We couldn’t have done it without you!

On Friday 18th November, students from Northside visited residents from Ian Brand Aged Care Facility at Bundoora Aged Care. Seeing the Years 5 and 6 Community Service group perform different songs and dances, showing their God-given talents, was great. Senior Captains then assisted in spreading Jesus’ love, using the gift of communication to talk with the elderly and helping them decorate Christmas trees for their rooms. All the students who were there worked together to help residents, and it made the day feel really special.
I personally had great chats with multiple residents and got to learn about their pasts, their families, and memorable moments in their lives. Being able to hear their stories gave me a greater appreciation for this experience and reminded me how valuable it is to spend time with others who may not have a lot during times of giving and love. Overall, the day was full of joy, connection, creativity and love. It was a morning I’m grateful to have been part of, and being able to plan the morning and see how happy the residents were is something I will cherish for a long time.

I, along with my co-Deputy College Captain Lyvia, recently had the honour of representing the College at the Mission Aviation Fellowship’s 80th Anniversary Gala Dinner. The evening was a celebration of MAF’s long history of using aviation to deliver aid, hope and God’s love to over 1000 isolated communities worldwide.
Throughout the night, there was a strong sense of purpose and gratitude. Colin Buchanan entertained with several crowd favourites.
The stories shared by MAF teams showed the dedication required to continue their mission over eight decades, all beginning with a few Christian pilots at the end of World War 2. It was inspiring to see how the vision and faith of a small group of individuals, guided by God, could grow into a global organisation that continues to change lives today. It was a privilege to represent the College at such a meaningful event.
Laurence - Deputy College Captain, Year 11

This year at the Lamont Book Fair we sold $3,333 of books earning the College $999.90 worth of free books. Thank you to parents and students for all your support - happy reading!

This year, Northside Christian College participated for the fourth time in the Victorian School Music Festival. Our students had the opportunity to play at the beautiful Hawthorn Town Hall and receive expert feedback on their erformance skills. This year we took our biggest concert band yet, 35 students, performing in the novice concert band section of this wonderful festival. The students received high-quality feedback from the adjudicator panel, and also experienced a workshop with a professional adjudicator and conductor while they were on stage. Students also participated as audience members, learning valuable skills while listening to other school feedback and performances on this day. We thank Mrs Anne Rassool for her tireless work with this ensemble throughout the year and preparing them for this event.
Mr Andrew Horneman Music Co-ordinator

This semester, we had an incredible season representing Northside Christian College in the CSEN Years 7/8 B Division for CSEN Semester Sport. We went undefeated in Pool A, showing great teamwork, determination and encouragement in every game.
Our hard work paid off in the grand final against Waverley Christian College, where we came away with a 22–10 victory to claim the B Division championship. It was such an exciting game and a great way to finish the season. We’re proud of how far we’ve come and grateful for the support from our coach, Mr Zammit, and teammates. We’re thankful for the encouragement, effort and teamwork that made this season such a success.
A group of athletes recently competed in the Bundoora District Athletics Meet. From this event, two students progressed through to the SSV Whittlesea Division Athletics Competition: Teresa W and Michael H. Both students demonstrated determination, resilience and excellence in their chosen events. Michael delivered a strong performance in the 1500m, securing fourth place against a highly competitive field. Teresa also excelled, achieving third place in the Triple Jump and fifth place in the High Jump, showcasing her versatility across both track and field events.
We congratulate Teresa and Michael on these outstanding achievements and thank them for representing the College with commitment and integrity. Their efforts highlight the spirit of perseverance and teamwork that we value at Northside, and we look forward to seeing how they continue to develop and thrive in future sporting opportunities.
Mrs Anna Venegas Sports Co-ordinator

Our Prep to Year 2 students had a fantastic time at the Swimming Carnival held at Splash in Craigieburn! The event was filled with excitement, laughter, and lots of smiles as students participated in a range of fun water-based activities. Students rotated through four engaging stations: aerobics, games, the water playground, and races, showcasing their confidence and enjoyment in the water. It was wonderful to see everyone encouraging one another and celebrating each success throughout the day. Congratulations to the Conquerors, who were crowned the overall winners of the carnival! A huge thank you to all staff, students and supporters who helped make the day such a joyful and memorable event.
Mrs Anna Venegas Sports Co-ordinator

This term saw the final SafeTalk workshop delivered to our Year 10 students. The program allows students to become suicide alert and therefore equipped to know how to asist a peer in need to seek help.
After the program, the students said:

“Training was great in general and provided lessons on how to deal with realistic situations”
“Abi & Bear spoke well & confidently - they were calm and patient.”
“Was useful, good info, good layout and preparation”
“Loved both Sam and Ash great trainers extremely fun to watch.”
90% would tell others they would benefit from this training
82% feel highly prepared to talk directly and openly to a person about their thoughts of suicide
85% would be able to recognise the signs that someone may be having thoughts of suicide
And here’s what they believe is the most important thing for young people to know before supporting themselves or someone else who may be having thoughts of suicide:
“The most important thing is to be comfortable and being not afraid to speak up about it”
“To make sure they know how to be patient and non judgmental”
“You should never have to do or go through it alone. Always seek help or be the help.”
“Using the TALK structure”
80% can now support a friend
48% will reach out to a professional service if they need to*
*only 1 in 4 young Aussies will reach out for support, so this number is good to see.
72% feel confident in supporting someone with thoughts of suicide
64% feel confident connecting someone with thoughts of suicide to support services
It’s here again! The end of another school year, the last few days of 2025 and we can see 2026 on the horizon. The festive season is here and it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!
Christmas is also referred to as another type of season… the ‘silly’ season. I don’t know about you, but the weather feels a little warmer, the shops feel a little busier, and the cars on the road seem faster and a little crazier than usual! But although Christmas is often filled with busyness and pressures, in this season, the LORD gently invites us to pause and receive His rest.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” God’s rest is something He gives us freely, not something we have to earn. I don’t give my kids gifts at Christmas because they’re good or do what they are told, but, because I love them. I love seeing them tear open their gifts and be excited at the contents. I find enjoyment in seeing theirs, I mean ‘tis the season of joy as well.
At Christmas we find true rest in remembering that God is with us. As we read in Matthew 1:21-23, “She (Mary) will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
So, while this season is busy, silly, festive, jolly, all the works, remember it is also a good season to rest in the knowledge that Immanuel is with us. So slow down, take a deep breath and be still.

We are excited to share that the building works for the new Senior School toilets, lift replacement, and stairwell improvements are progressing well. KEMATCH Constructions, our builders, are working hard on this project, which will provide ten new toilets for student use. The current Level 1 toilets will be converted into staff toilets, ensuring better access to amenities for both students and staff.
The existing lift will be replaced with a disability-compliant lift, improving ease of access throughout the building. Additionally, a new automatic door is being installed, and the walls in the stairwell and foyer areas are being upgraded, greatly improving the look, feel, and functionality of the space.
We thank all staff and students for their patience during the minor disturbances caused by this project and look forward to the entire upgrade being completed by the end of February 2026.

College families can purchase new uniforms from Academy Uniforms.

Second-hand uniforms may be bought and sold via the Facebook group “Northside Christian College - Second Hand Uniform & Textbooks - Buy & Sell” . All sales from the Facebook group are between the buyer and seller.
Beginning in 2026, the colour of the boy’s shorts will change from light grey to dark grey, making it consistent with the colour of the boy’s dark grey trousers.
Families who have already purchased light grey shorts may continue to use them until the end of Term 2, 2026. From Term 3 onwards, students who wear shorts as part of their academic uniform must wear dark grey shorts.
The approved dark grey shorts are now available at Academy Uniforms in Thomastown. It is our preference that shorts are purchased from Academy Uniforms for continuity of style and colour.
From Term 1 2026: all students may only wear uniforms that bear the 2016 logo and/or the 2022 logo. This includes school bags for Primary School and Secondary School students.
From Term 1 2028: all Primary School and Secondary School students may only wear uniforms that bear the 2022 logo. This excludes the school bag and hat for Primary School students.
From Term 1 2029: all items of uniform including the College bag and hat must bear the 2022 logo.
Further information regarding this change is available on the College website
