Internships

Staff and faculty will support you with a personalized career development plan, including courses for credit, résumé and interview training, assessment, and 150 hours of professional development experiences. Danielle came to North Park unsure of what she wanted to major in, but an accounting class made up her mind. As a business and economics major with concentrations in accounting and finance, Danielle worked with her academic advisor to secure an internship, and later, a job, at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Emmanuel Patrick Palma, RN Class of 2009

As a registered nurse and implementation manager at NorthShore University HealthSystem’s Glenbrook Hospital, Emmanuel has served in the emergency department and led the integration of medical communication software. He credits North Park’s nursing faculty as being a primary reason for his career success.

Michelle Howard Class of 2012

When Michelle decided that she wanted to pursue graduate school, her physics professors connected her to career and research development activities that made her a competitive applicant. Today, Michelle is a graduate student at the Mayo Clinic, where she is pursuing a PhD in biomedical engineering.

Dr. Sean Welander Class of 2008

In North Park’s pre-dentistry track, faculty helped prepare Sean for the Dental Admission Test and to succeed in graduate school. He passed his boards and became licensed to be a dentist after dental school graduation, opting for a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Karen Kelly Class of 2012

A global studies major, Karen received a Fulbright U.S. Student Program award to teach in Andorra upon graduating. North Park has a tradition of developing Fulbright awardees, and Karen was encouraged by her professors to apply. That experience led Karen to her position as an outreach officer for Latin America and the Caribbean with New York University Abu Dhabi.

Bryan Tran Class of 2012

Bryan came to North Park because we offer the only accredited undergraduate athletic training program in the city of Chicago. The hands-on classroom and clinical experience Bryan got prepared him for his position with the NFL as a certified athletic trainer for the Cincinatti Bengals.

Athletics North Park is a member of Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). The CCIW is recognized as the premier private college conference in the NCAA’s Division III, with 46 national championships. North Park teams regularly produce All-American and All-Conference athletes and compete in post-season play.

Students can access a full range of top-quality athletic facilities on campus, including Helwig Recreation Center, Holmgren Athletic Complex, and athletic training resources.

The ARTS

On campus and throughout Chicago, North Park students have extensive opportunities to discover or enhance their creative talents. You’ll benefit from learning from faculty who are working professionals in the city, and you don’t have to declare a major in the arts to get involved in music, theatre, or art programs.

From orchestral to choral, Gospel to opera, chamber to jazz, School of Music ensembles feature student performers on campus and around the city, and many tour domestically and internationally.

Students receive hands-on training in acting and production skills from University performances and partnerships with Chicago’s prestigious and varied theatre companies.

More than 95 percent of students receive some form of financial assistance, which may include grants, campus jobs, and student and parent loans. Grants are need-based awards funded by the federal government, state, or North Park University.
