Boardman welcomes new Chamber of Commerce leader A breath of fresh air recently joined Boardman Chamber of Commerce as Executive Director, Keri Heideman. A Hermiston High graduate who lives in Cecil, Keri comes packed with enthusiasm and lots of ideas on how to reinvigorate the Chamber. “I just LOVE Boardman,” she exclaims when asked why

she wants to commute to her job. Keri and husband Nathan live on a dryland wheat farm at Cecil (near Ione) and have two girls, Mackenzie, age 16 and Hailey, age 14. She previously had a four year career with the US Coast Guard, owned a coffee shop in Ione, was the Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Boardman, and most recently, worked part-time as a lifeguard at Boardman Pool & Recreation Center. Heideman has been a reserve officer (now a sargeant) for 10 years with sev-

eral agencies, including Umatilla and Morrow County Sheriff’s Office and now Boardman Police Department. Heideman says she likes to “burn the candle at both ends” when asked about her energy and ideas. She shared some her thoughts about bringing new events to Boardman, including live musical concerts, which is a hobby for her. She has attended over 20 live concerts this summer alone! An active person, Keri loves stand-up paddleboarding and swimming, and

would like to see more “family friendly” events at Boardman Marina where residents could try out various water sports such as kayaking, canoeing, and yes, paddleboarding! With three weeks on the job under her belt, Keri is concentrating on finding an assistant at the Chamber to assist her. Anyone with interest can contact Keri at her Email: keri@boardmanchamber.org.or by phone: 541/481-3014.
