Park teams up with school district for summer recreation programs Events for summertime fun added as COVID-19 rules loosen Boardman Park and Recreation District is joining forces with Morrow County School District to provide their popu-

lar summer recreation programs to all youth in the Boardman and Irrigon areas. The School District had been providing lunches to the Boardman participants in prior

years, and asked if the Park would include Irrigon kids if the School District paid for their costs. The Park was very enthusiastic about including the Irrigon kids. Funtastic Kidz is the program for youth ages 5 to 12, and the program runs 8:30 am to 11:30 am June 21st through July 22nd. Summer Teen Program is for youth ages 12 to 17. The program runs 1:15 pm to 4:00 pm June 21st to July 22nd. Both programs are free of charge, and include free bus-

sing and free lunches for all children. Bus schedules and stops information will be provided soon. Pre-registration is

required for the programs. The Park asks that each participant fill out their online interest form on their website: h t t p s : / / boardmanparkandrec.com/ funtastic-kidz/ The Recreation and Pool continue to ramp up their classes offered to the public as our COVID-19 rules allow. Fitness classes include: Yoga, Monday and Wednesday, 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Zumba, Monday and Thursday, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Water Classes include: Medium Impact Water Aerobics, Monday and Wednesday, 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Aqua Fit, Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 am to 9:30 am. A Dodgeball league is being formed beginning May 12th and will continue on We d n e s d a y s

for those ages 16 and older. This is a free league -- be prepared for “old school dodgeball!” Check at the Rec Center for time and details. A Water Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 15th. This family event is geared towards children ages 4 to 12 and is free for members. Events include swimming with a mermaid, lifejacket fit and a boat ride, a rescue demonstration, a swim level test, parent/guardian water safety and a chance to visit with the Morrow County Sheriff Office Marine Patrol. Two sessions are being offered: Session One: 10:00 am to 11:30 am, Session Two: 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Pre-registration is required before May 14th. Call 541/616-1050 or email recinfo@boardmanmarinapark.com. Their Kidsscape After School Program has been successful. The program hours run Monday through Thursday 4:00 to 6:30 pm. They engage your children with fun craft projects and physical activities that they can get the socialization and interaction they are craving. A pool day has been added on Thursdays for this program, which will run until school is out for the summer.

On June 8th the Cascaders with their GMC vintage motorhomes will be arriving at the Boardman Marina & RV Park. These beauties were made between 1973 and stopped production in 1978. The GMC Motorhome was built with front wheel drive and a 455 Olds engine. Air bag suspension rounds off the luxury of these RVs. The Cascaders will be leaving Boardman on June 10, so if you are interested in vintage vehicles, drive by the Boardman Marina and RV Park. You won’t miss them, they come in all colors with interior to match! (On a personal note, Co-Editor Lynn Prag spotted the Cascaders rallied at the Port of Newport RV Park last month.
