FaceBook isn’t the whole answer! Equipment at the Shell station in Boardman is tearing down the structure on Monday, March 1st. We’re wondering what will replace the long-time Main Street feature. No new plans have been submitted to the City of Boardman Planning Department, just a demolition permit. What’s your guess for a replacement?

So you’ve posted your business’s hours of operation on FaceBook and think you have the whole community covered, right? Or you sent the information to the Chamber of Commerce to be included in their weekly email update. Why haven’t your customers started to come into your business like they did before this COVID-19 pandemic? You may be surprised to know that not everybody is tied to social media, with updates coming to their smart phone so they can see their email and FaceBook posts immediately! Most older adults do not participate in social media. Many young adults are too darned busy with their jobs and kids and LIFE to be tuned into social media constantly. If you’re counting on your message getting out to these (previous?) customers, you’re missing out! We are going to toot our own horns here: The North Morrow Times is mailed free each month to everyone with a 97818 zip code, with another 1,500 papers delivered to the local area, and if you are so inclined, you can always read all editions of it online at http://issuu.com/ northmorrowtimes Too expensive to advertise? A 2 column wide by 5-inch ad like the Chamber’s (to your left) would cost $100; classified ads are 5 lines for $7.50 plus $0.20 per word thereafter; short press releases are run free of cost, if space permits. One other benefit: The North Morrow Times has been continuously printed by Jane Pope & Lynn Prag since 1994. We are a local small business, and we are also struggling during these tough times!

Adventure Club Kids collect food for the pantry during a Scavenger Hunt On February 14th, the Adventure Club (a program of First Baptist Church) sent 20 kids on a scavenger hunt around town. They collected food items that they delivered to the Food Pantry. They had a great time and will likely do this again in the future! Lots of volunteers helped with this - thank you! On Saturday, February 13, the Boardman Adventure Club (a program of First Baptist Church) hosted a scavenger hunt for local children and families. Parents and children came to the church in order to pick up a scavenger hunt list. They were handed a bag and a can of food. Each can of food had a hint attached, directing each group to their next location. At each location the children learned something about that business. For instance, at the Farmer’s Cup, they learned the steps for making a cup of coffee. At the Sage Center, they answered a question about irrigation. The final of six destinations was the Boardman Food Pantry. The groups had collected food items at each loand they turned in their bags when they arrived at the pantry. Volunteers were stationed at each scavenger hunt stop, ready with the food items and hints. Twenty local children participated in the scavenger hunt along with their parents or grandparents. The goal was to engage the children in a fun activity while implementing an

educational and charitable aspect. Upon leaving the pantry, the children were given a final tip that led them back to the Baptist Church for prize bags and snacks. A special thanks goes to Shannon Carl, of the Columbia River Health Clinic and First Baptist Church, who implemented the details of this scavenger hunt. The Boardman Adventure Club is a program of the First Baptist Church. They provide activities for Boardman children every second Saturday of the month (weather permitting). Prior activities have included a self-defense class, a painting lesson, kickball at the Marina, an indoor game day, and a Valentine’s craft day. In the future they hope to offer a chalk art class, disc golf, fishing outings, paintball, picnics, and more, as funds allow. All community children are welcome to be involved in the Adventure Club. Ages may vary depending on the activity. Please contact the First Baptist Church for additional information: 541-481-9437
