Boardman Ace Hardware opens doors Senior Center to Reopen “It’s only taken six or seven years to put it together, but we’re almost ready to open,” says Randy Smith, third generation of the Smiths to feature hardware for sale. Starting in 1948 on Main Street in Hermiston, grandpa Smith opened his doors as Marshall Wells, which later became Coast to Coast and finally in 1993 Ace Hardware Store. Randy and Tammy Smith took over in 2009, the third generation, and also have the fourth generation on tap with their two kids, who help in the stores. The Smiths added on to the former Boardman Hardware Store, and had extensive remodeling costs due to some termite damage they found. They Randy and Tammy Smith opened their doors on May 28th to welcome the installed new roof, plumbing, Boardman community to their new store located at 202 1st Street NW. Monday through Saturday, and 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Sunday. They will only close for four holidays each year: Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and New Year’s Day.

Ace Hardware in Boardman had a soft opening May 28th, They were busy with excited customers stopping by to check out the new store electrical and HVAC systems. Known for their expansive inventory and helpful clerks, Ace Hardware has been the goto place for many. Besides the usual hardware, screws, nuts, bolts and nails, the Boardman Ace will have an expanded RV and fishing section, along with a pet section. All your barbecue needs featuring Weber, Traeger and Blackstone products plus plenty of rubs for you to try. They will sell hunting and

fishing licenses, and carry pellet and bb guns. For guns and ammunition, they refer their customers to their Smitty’s Outpost in Hermiston. If you need keys, they can make them or rekey your locks for you. They are a full service Stihl dealer and handle repairs. Their paint section is expansive, and they will match an existing color for you if you’d like. Ace will be open seven days each week: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm

Ace Store Manager, Kisha Lomen and store clerk , David Boor look up specialty wrap for Doug Pope, who bundles wood and sells it around town for the Kiwanis Club of Boardman. He uses the wrap to secure the wood bundles.

The Boardman Senior Center will be opening again starting with Breakfast on Saturday, June 12th from 7:30 to 10:30 am and opening for lunches again starting Tuesday June 15th from 12 to 1. They will also continue the home delivery for seniors who can’t drive. They are very excited to be open again because they miss everyone so much! The lunch meals are provided Tuesdays and Thursday. The cost is $4 per meal for those over 55 and $5 per meal for those under 55 “kids”. Everyone is welcome to attend. If you would like to have the seniors cater your event they

are able to provide catering; if you have a need to have a small event catered, please call the Senior Center for more information at 541-481-3257.
