She’s planning cultural events, such as traditional basket weaving, tortilla making, ceramics, traditional Mexican dancing and other activities which will include the many Hispanics in our area. She also is looking for senior citizen activities such as “Sit and Be Fit” for senior-themed exercise classes. She wants the Rec Center to be “more inclusive” (in her words). sive Interval Training (HIIT) is a training technique in which you give all-out, 100% effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time! LOW IMPACT AEROBICS: Tuesday 5:30pm-6:30pm. This workout is a form of body conditioning and resistance training using light weights and a series of stations that will target strength building or muscular endurance needed for a healthier body and mind. These classes are held in the Aerobics Room and Cardio/ Weights Room. MEDIUM IMPACT WATER AEROBICS: Monday and Wednesday 10am-11am. Designed to increase flexibility, joint stability, balance, coordination, agility, muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming required. This class uses dumbbells, pool noodles and water balls (all supplied by the pool). SWIM LESSONS: Beginning February 1 through 24th, there’s still room in these classes for additional participation. For all levels, $35 for the class and scholarships are available for attendance. JUNIOR SWIM CLUB: This is an ongoing activity to teach the different strokes and ready the swimmer for competition. VALENTINES CRAFT: For ages 5 and up, February 11th from 2 to 4 pm and $10 will allow you to be creative with Valentines ideas. DADDY/DAUGHTER DANCE: Scheduled for March 5th, this popular activity creates a special time for dad and daughter to enjoy the Rec Center.
