Boardman Park & Recreation District replaced a portion of the rental dock in the marina. The old dock, which was installed in 1970 was falling apart with age -- the dock was supposed to last 30 years, and it has been 50! The new dock, installed by Cascade Dive of Pasco, is 150 feet long by 6 feet wide and has encapsulated floats and non-skid fiberglass grated deck. A galvanized steel railing around the edge will make boat mooring easy. The configuration of the new dock does not include “fingers” where boats formerly tied up. District Manager Ted Lieurance says “As money becomes available for the Park District, we plan to install side finger docks, which will give more slips and stabilize the new dock.” He estimated the cost of this new dock at between $160 - $165,000. The new dock will have water available on it, but no electricity as was on the previous dock. The new, grated dock complies with Corps of Engineers’ requirements to create no shade where predator fish can attach salmon smolts.
