Emily Waite welcomed as Boardman Chamber Director Emily Waite was born and raised in Carlsbad, NM, graduated from Clovis High School in NM, but is now proud to call Oregon home. Most recently, Emily was Region Manager for the Texas Association of Business (The Texas State Chamber of Commerce). She became Vice President - Chamber Services at the Wichita Falls, TX Chamber of Commerce in October 2001, and was Senior Vice President from 2010 to 2014. She started her Chamber career with the Lawton, OK Chamber in May, 1991 as Membership Services Director. Prior to her Chamber career, she was in the education field for more
than 10 years. She worked for 7 different universities in both administrative and teaching positions. She worked with American College, Big Bend Community College, Boston University, Central Texas College, City Colleges of Chicago, Georgia Military College, and the University of Maryland in positions ranging from Field Representative to Executive Director, from Administrative Assistant to Lecturer and Teacher. She taught subjects as varied as communication skills and English to math and social science. The reason she worked so many places was not because she couldn’t keep a job! Her hus-
band, Ted, was in the U.S. Army for 20 years and she went where he went, including 6 years living in Europe. She has an Associate degree from Georgia Military College, a business Bachelor’s degree from Paine College, and worked on a second degree in Counseling Psychology. She is a graduate of the OCCE (OK Chamber of Commerce Executives) Executive Leadership Class, a 1997 Institute for Organization Management (IOM) graduate, and a 2006 graduate of Community Development Institute. Emily feels that one of her biggest accomplishments is staying
married to the same guy for more than 40 years. She is also most proud of her children!—Michael is an Air Force Academy graduate and pilot. He is presently in Afghanistan, but his family lives in Boise. Tamara, a Baylor University graduate, most recently worked for Whole Foods Corporation in Oakland, CA, but recently married and moved to Peoria, IL . One activity she and her husband, Ted, have discovered is Cruising. They’ve taken more than a dozen cruises, including Alaska, Hawaii, and one that left them stranded in the Gulf of Mexico after Hurricane Ike!
Emily Waite, CCM, IOM, CCA recently took over the reins as Executive Director at Boardman Chamber.

During the second week of February, the final inspections were completed at Pierce and the sixstate trip started to Boardman by Chief Rogelstad, Assistant Chief Ellis, Lt. Adam Cole and Lt. The 1974 Pierce 85 foot ladder truck in the Boardman fleet for 16 years was traded to Hughes Fire as it no longer met certification standards. Upon completion of
training for all firefighters in early April, the 2015 Pierce 100’ platform Truck 824 will be put into service. The new fire truck is needed for the taller structures in the Boardman area, the new housing
and additional industries. It is designed to work with minimal personnel. The addition of this truck will help with insurance ratings for area business and residences. There are 8 paid and 25 active
volunteers in the District. There are four stations: Boardman, Three-Mile Farms, PGE and Station 7 at Buttercreek junction. The new truck will be available to assist all stations.
