State of the art fish cleaning station added Boardman Park & Recreation District Manager Ted Lieurance announced that the Park has completed construction of a new fish cleaning station this week. “The Park has been saving money to purchase the equipment we needed to complete this amenity,” says Lieurance. “The total cost of the building, specialized equipment, plumbing and electrical is nearly $33,000,” he added. The four-station stainless steel cleaning station includes a macerator (think BIG garbage disposal!) that will dispose of all the remnants of cleaning those walleye, bass and other fish caught nearby. The previous cleaning station, which will be torn down, provided a garbage

can for disposal of refuse, and during the summer, the dumpster used could become quite odiferous! Construction of the building was done by the Oregon Youth Conservation Corps, the concrete and siding completed by Park staff, with professional electrical and plumbing installations complimenting the structure. “Although we need to winterize the equipment so it won’t be damaged by freezing weather,” Lieurance says, “We know our many friends who enjoy fishing here in the spring and summer will take full advantage of this new cleaning station. The staff will enjoy not dealing with the previous fish gut dumpster, too!”
