Boardman to host 7th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner The 7th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner will be held November 26, 2015 in Boardman Senior Center on 100 Tatone Street from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. This dinner is open for all community members and their families for a free Thanksgiving dinner. This event was started as a thank you to all the blessings the community of Boardman has throughout the year. The community churches work to plan and execute the event held annually at the Senior Center. A group of community volunteer shop and prepare the turkeys and trimmings to be served during the meal. The local pastors present a service at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate the Lord’s blessings in the community. Volunteers are called to help serve meals at the Boardman Senior Center and to deliver meals to shut-ins during the times of 2:00

p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on November 26, 2015. They organize meals to go for those workers who are serving needs in the community during the holiday. Calls for a pickup of takeout meals can be made to the Senior Center at 541-481-3257. Among the many blessings to Boardman are the food industry, who donate food products for the meals and other businesses that donate money for the event. With volunteers to help with the event; from set up, to preparing and serving dinner, to clean up, you can sign up at your local church or contact Penny Jurney at 541-481-7612 or Jane Akers at 541-481-5511. The group looks forward to sharing the blessings of the Lord with the community of Boardman. Remember all members and family in the community are welcome to share this Thanksgiving.

Oregon State Pharmacy Association honors local pharmacist, Ray Michael Raymond Michael, of Boardman, was honored by Oregon Veterans In Pharmacy for his 50 year commitment to the practice of pharmacy. Michael, a graduate of OSU School of Pharmacy, was licensed in 1965, and practiced at pharmacies in the Portland area for 14 years. He moved his family to Eastern Oregon and built an independent pharmacy in Boardman, in 1978. At the October, 2015, Oregon State Pharmacy Association Annual Convention, Ray was honored for 50 years in pharmacy. A fellow OSU School of Pharmacy graduate, Robert Mullay of Hermiston, licensed in 1980, was honored for 35 years in pharmacy.

“The Board and staff are meeting at least weekly with Wenaha, Robertson & Sherwood and Absher Construction to draw up a plan for a beautiful facility that will fit within our budget. We have also been working with Blue Mountain Community College and the Port of Morrow on the layout of the campus, parking, water and sewer supply.” The Park expects to solicit for bids in February, 2016 and break ground by the first of April. You will notice the Port of Morrow has taken down the former Lew Schwab building, and say the old mobile home will be removed soon.
