SAGE Center opens doors to public Over 2,500 people have toured the SAGE Center in Boardman in a little over a week! A Tuesday night preview for the construction workers brought nearly 100 people; the following evening over 150 people who assisted with the filming of the Morrow County video toured the facility; the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, May 31st brought 400 people (by invitation only); June 1st (Saturday) brought 637 people and Sunday 616 people for the free weekend introduction to the public. Three groups of schools have toured 550 Kindergarten to high school students. At the Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Riley Bushue from Congressman Walden’s office spoke, Kathleen Cathey with U. S. Senator Wyden’s office spoke as well as Oregon State Senator Bill Hansell and State of Oregon Representative Greg Smith. The Port of Morrow Commissioners: Jerry Healy, Marv Padberg, Joe Taylor, Don Russell and Larry Lindsey were thanked by Port of Morrow Manager Gary Neal for their vision and support for the SAGE Center. The interactive displays brings lots of “ooohs and aaaahs” while the simulated hot air balloon ride and tractor are favorites of the youngsters. The Store carries thousands of
Four hundred people attended the Dedication and were treated to a dinner of pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, potatoes, desserts, punch and wine & beer for those over 21.

There’s coffee from Arlington, beef jerkey from Fossil, pastas, candies, pottery and wooden items from local artists, homemade jewelry, cupcake candles, lavender items, Tshirts, scarves, jackets and hats, jams, and lots of educational kits for
kids, such as “How to make a Hot Air Balloon”. Home decor items are hot sellers, too. The SAGE Center is open 9:00 am to 6:00 pm daily, with entrance fees of 5.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors and students, and kids under 5 are free. There is a $20.00 maximum for families.
