North Morrow Volume XVIIII Number 1 August 5, 2011 The Housing Authority of the County of Umatilla is holding a ground breaking ceremony on August 24th at 3:00pm to celebrate Castle Rock Apartments, a 40-unit affordable housing complex to be built in Boardman, Oregon. The site is located off Main and Wilson Streets and is within walking distance of nearby schools, shopping centers, social service providers and state offices. The project is funded by LIHTC, USDA Rural Development Section 514, HOME, and Trust Funds. The complex will consist of; one, two, three and four bedrooms that will be available to house both small and large families. Castle Rock Apartments will include 10 residential buildings, and a Community Building housing a management office with regular access to the resident manager, a meeting space for classes, meetings and social events, computers, a laundry room and storage for maintenance equipment. There will be a tot-lot for small children, a play ground for older children, a basketball half-court for all residents and plenty of open space for children to run and play. Sustainable construction will be employed including the use of solar energy. Construction will begin in October 2011 and is expected to be complete in 2012.

Housing Authority to break ground on Castle Rock Apartments in Boardman

Artist’s rendering of Castle Rock Apartments, which will be constructed between Wilson and Willowfork Streets, bounded by Main and Tatone Streets. The location is nearby Columbia River Community Health Services’ new clinic under construction. The 40-unit project will have ten residential building with one, two, three and four bedroom residences. Groundbreaking is set for August 24th.
