Boardman City Manager Karen Pettigrew announced during the March 1st City Council meeting, she had promoted Lieutenant Loren Dieter to Interim Police Chief. Interim Chief Dieter has worked for the Boardman Police Department for six years, serving three years as Sergeant and the past three years as the departments’ Lieutenant. He will maintain the duties of the Chief until a permanent replacement is hired. In other City business, the Council approved a candy cane decoration project sponsored by the Boardman Chamber of Commerce. Councilors heard the City’s

grant application made the first round of cuts for the transportation grant for South Main Street; thirty other projects around the state will be competing for the grant. After much discussion regarding the future of the Boardman Police Department, the Council scheduled a Town Hall Meeting on the subject for March 16, 2011, at 6pm at the Port of Morrow’s Riverfront Center. The next meeting of the Boardman City Council will be Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Boardman City Hall Council and will begin at 7pm.

Chamber lunch honors Administrative Assistants The April Chamber lunch will feature Woody Biomass, the Triple Win! The guest speaker will be Nathan Putnam, Operations Forester, Hancock Forest Management, who is responsible for roads, engineering and property related issues at the Klickitat operations in Glenwood, Washington. The presentation will give us great information on this alternative fuel. Come learn more and help us celebrate Administrative Assistants Day at the lunch on Wednesday, April 20 at the Port of Morrow. Judy Scott’s Chuck Wagon will be the caterer, serving begins at 11:45 am and the cost is $10.00 per person. RSVP is required by Monday April 18. Call the Chamber at 541481-3014.

In all the years the Chamber has purchased insurance to pay off on a hole-in-one on two holes during the Frostbite Open Tournament, Gordon Lienau is the first to collect. He won a 30inch Shart flat screen TV. He’s just made he didn’t make the Photo contributed hole-in-one on the other hole...it paid $10,000!
