Mike Nunez was the moderator for the forum; each candidate began with a three minute opening statement, followed by questions from the audience. ZeaChem to update public at Chamber Luncheon May 19 Find out the latest on the Port’s newest tenant. ZeaChem’s Carrie Atiyeh, Director of Public Affairs, and George Stegner, Project Manager, will speak about ZeaChem’s demonstration scale cellulosic biorefinery that is being built at the Port of Morrow during the May 19th Boardman Chamber of Commerce Luncheon. ZeaChem’s facility will use poplar trees from GreenWood Resources and also additional local renewable biomass to produce fuels and chemicals. The project will create up to 75 construction jobs
and 20-25 full-time operations jobs. ZeaChem has raised $40MM to date and the project is also assisted by a $25 million grant from the US Department of Energy and a Business Energy Tax Credit (BETC) from the Oregon Department of Energy. The lunch will be held at the Port of Morrow’s Riverfront Center and is catered by Boardman Select Market. Serving begins about 11:45 am. Lunch is $10.00 per person; please RSVP by Monday, May 17 to 481-3014.

Bank of Eastern Oregon, Ione Branch, Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and until 8:00 pm May 18th. * Morrow County Courthouse, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and until 8:00 pm May 18th. Your ballot allows you to vote in this Primary Election for US Senator, US Representative in Congress, Governor, State Treasurer, State Representative for your Dis-
trict, County Commissioner, Precinct Committeepersons and non-
partisan state elections for Superintendent of Public Instruction and non-partisan State Judiciary. Also on the ballot are State Measures 68 and 69 and local Measures 30-83 which would allow the formation of a Umatilla Morrow Radio & Data District and Measure 30-84, which would set the permanent rate limit for taxing and chooses five directors should the formation of the District pass.
