We are pleased to make this offering to everyone who prefers credit card usage over other means of payment. Want to be a rock star or a classical phenom. You have to start somewhere and you may as well begin with good practices. Learn to tune your guitar, how to hold your guitar, how to hold your pick, how to read notes and play with a metronome. By the end of class you’ll know a few chords, be able to play a few melodies and have more fun with your guitar.

Space, often called “the last frontier”, has inspired scientist, star-gazers and adventurers for generations. Get inspired to go on your own adventure and join us on a Mission 2 Space. Discover some incredible structures at Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39, travel the surface of the moon as a lunar rover, and explore Mars on board the “Curiosity”. Our tour would not be complete without a visit to the International Space Station. We’ll provide the bricks; all you need to bring for this adventure is your imagination.

YOUTH KENPO KARATE

Join Masters Sam and Kate Middleton for this introductory program to Kenpo Karate. In this introductory program you will learn the basics of punching and kicking, personal safety (Self Defense) and Katas along with some great physical conditioning. Kenpo has a focus on stand-up self -defense and fighting basics, allowing students to find what best suits them both mentally and physically. After this program, if you wish, you may enroll and continue in Kenpo martial arts, learn even more and participate in belt advancement. Master Sam Middleton started training in 1979 and has over 20 years of experience in teaching martial arts.

North Kansas City Parks & Recreation youth sports programs are a non competitive league. The programs emphasizes skill development; learn the rules of the game, team work, sportsmanship, and most important to have FUN! All practices and games are held at Macken Park. Keep an eye out for more information on our Youth leagues and registration in our Spring 2014 Enrichment
Children may register “with one buddy” for youth team sports. BOTH registration forms must be received along with the registration fee for each child at the same time. If you are new to the NKC sports program, you will be placed on a team by the NKC Parks & Recreation staff.

T-ball is the first step in the baseball/ softball progression. Emphasis is placed on having fun and playing together as a team. Our goal is for the child to learn the correct techniques for batting, throwing, and catching, as well as developing an understanding of the basics of the game.

8+ | Magician & Illusionist T. A. Hamilton
This class is parent/child interaction. This course provides a basic knowledge concerning the performance of magic and will give the student an opportunity to learn and correctly present magic of many genres. The course will require practice to achieve maximum results, but the illusions taught are selected to provide an ease of learning while giving the student a background which will provide enjoyment and pleasure for many years to come. Students will learn a different Illusion each week culminating in a magic presentation by the students for their family and friends. Taught my Master Magician and Illusionist T.A. Hamilton, an expert in magic and allied arts. This professional program/ workshop is a wonderful introduction to the World of Magic. Included in this class: Illusion/magic prop each week and a bound book of tricks to take home to practice your magic!

LITTLE WING MUSIC SCHOOL OF ROCK 3-6YRS | Little Wing
Little Wing is all about enabling creativity and confidence. Music is that magical avenue into a little soul with untapped ideas, images, and movement. We aim to unearth that potential. Set in our innovative classrooms infused with rock music, these little artists explore rhythm patterns, tonal processing, basic music syntax, and make emotional connections to great music. Confidence emerges leading them down their own little creative journey. We are looking to contribute to the full development of confident, imaginative, young children, who go out and inspire their world. We have a weekly special consisting of an introduction to guitar, bass, drums, piano, and vocals. We also play a gross motor game every week, learn about pitch and melody, and we work on rhythm. Students also do a jam session each class consisting of several percussion instruments. Lastly, the students will create their own instruments.

It’s a zoo in here! This is a unit sure to delight kids who love creatures. We’ll be building models of snakes, insects, mammals and more. Each week we’ll discuss fascinating facts about the animals we build, from the chameleon that changes color to the seal model that waddles across the table. Students will love these moving models that celebrate the wonders of the animal kingdom.

During this mini camp riders will learn the basics of horse handling and safety. After each child learns the basics they will have plenty of saddle time to where they really get to know their equine friend. Each child must be accompanied with an adult 18 years or older the entire time. Please wear pants and close toed shoes preferably boots. Helmets will be provided and must be worn at all time you are with your equestrian friend. A liability waiver will need to be signed prior to the first session. Please arrive 15 minutes early.

Located at 716 East 23rd Avenue adjacent to the North Kansas City High School. The park is defined by a street meridian and contains several features commemorating the history of wars fought involving American citizens. A replica of the Statue of Liberty is located in Memorial Park.
Located at the corners of Clark Ferguson Drive and Howell Street is home to many varied park activities. This 60-acre park is utilized for sports leagues, walking, picnicking and several forms of recreation. Located at 715 East 21st Avenue just east of North Kansas City City Hall. This five-acre park provides a setting for family gatherings and passive activities. Park Amenities • Wading pool is open noon-6 p.m. daily starting the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend - the second Saturday in August; and then weekends only through Labor Day. Dagg Park will be closed Memorial Day & 4th of July. Please note that this wading pool is for children under 48” tall. The wading pool will be closed if the following conditions exist: 1.
