TABLE OF CONTENTS North Kansas City Parks and Recreation has settled into our temporary home in the lower level of the North Kansas City Public Library. The City Council has agreed to move forward with the process of building a new facility for Parks and Recreation that will provide space for staff offices, program classrooms, meeting spaces, a catering kitchen and a multipurpose room. The new facility will be located on the south side of Macken Park and immediately west of the Wheel Park. The department and the city are in the very early stages of planning for the new facility. I will be sure to keep the community informed as progress is made. For more than a year, we have watched changes take place at Dagg Park in preparation for the new spray ground and play ground system. The wait will be over soon! We’ll celebrate with a Grand Opening ceremony on Saturday, May 28th from 10:00am – 1:00pm. Please see page 8 for more information about the Grand Opening and page 12 for the spray ground rules. The addition of this one-of-a-kind play system and spray ground in the Northland makes this a very exciting time for the Parks and Recreation Department and for our community. This project would not have been possible without the City Council’s support. The Parks and Recreation Board and staff thank them tremendously for their support to improve the park system in North Kansas City. Textcaster NKC Parks and Recreation is now offering Textcaster as a way to communicate with our participants about sports rainout/make-up games, special events and other programs we offer.
