OBED LASTICK Hey North Garland Key Club members, I hope everyone is doing well in school and their extracurricular in the midst of this new social environment. I just wanted to congratulate everyone for being so caught up on their hours. As I've updated the Master Hours sheet, I noticed that many of you have gotten 10 or more hours and some have even surpassed the 20 hour requirement for the year.

I wanted to congratulate all of you for being so proactive and continually working hard to obtain your community service obligations as a member of Key Club. Keep up the good work and stay safe!

AI DO Happy November and Happy Thanksgiving! We, officers, are thankful to every one of you for being a part of Key Club. Grateful o have amazing and lovely members this year! the weather is getting cold, so dress warmly. As always, stay safe and healthy!

In the winter of 2018, I attended a marathon called Run the Lights. The wind was cold, the evening was dark, and my fellow freshmen friends were dumped at a running checkpoint on the side of a road along with some upperclassmen who were also in Key Club. Our little group was tasked with cheering on the runners and passing out cups of water. As we were waiting for runners to arrive at our checkpoint with tables lined with full cups, the upperclassmen started playing some Christmas music to lighten the mood.

It was difficult for my group of friends to interact with the others since we were just a bunch of awkward and quiet freshmen, but the loose nature of the seniors really allowed us to become comfortable.

In a matter of minutes, the group was suddenly huddled in a circle, swinging side to side, and belting out “Jingle Bells” and chanting “KCC”, an acronym for the short-lived but incredibly talented musical group named “Key Club Choir.” I remember laughing so hard that I could barely chant along with them. Whether their actions to create a warm atmosphere were intentional or not, I still very

much appreciated them.

After 2 years of remaining a proud member of Key Club, that specific event continues to be one of the most memorable and favorite of all. I sympathize with new members, especially underclassmen, who find it troublesome to put themselves out there and be included in the fun. I believe inclusiveness, one of Key Club’s core values, is a crucial part to creating the bond between your fellow peers who sometimes feel like strangers. The upperclassmen’s actions that helped my friends and I feel included is a big reason as to why I love the organization. Because of them, I felt and still feel that the club is somewhere that I belong and that anyone, without discrimination, can be a part of. It’s a place where grade level is disregarded and members can come together and create long-lasting friendships.

Although opportunities to make new friends is currently limited when everyone is behind a screen, I hope current and future members can finally meet in person soon and create their own Key Club Choir.

When I first joined Key Club, I was looking for an experience to remember from my high school years. I wanted it to be something worthwhile and positive, so I picked Key Club, a club dedicated to making a positive impact on both our members and community through service, hoping that Key Club would be something I could look fondly back on. Ever since I had taken an officer position, my motivation for joining became my goal for others: to give members a memorable experience from which they can fondly back upon.

Many can attest that experience is the most important indicator as to whether someone is good at something. Our club's core values are leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness, traits that we would like to inspire in all of our members and even to our community. Therefore, I believe the best way to encourage these core values is to have members experience it themselves through service. Whether I see members come to an event, I hope that it provides opportunities for them to positively grow and bring back memories. I hope that there aretimes where our members display heartwarming compassion for others. I hope that

there are times where ourmembers can laugh and really make great social connections. Most importantly, I hope that there are times that positively change our members. Even if they do not remember the exact details of what they did, I want members to recognize that, looking back through their action and service in Key Club and in their everyday life, they have the ability to influence the world around them. Though not written in the history books for eons to come, their impact stays eternal in the flow of time.

In these few years in Key Club, there is something I want every member to take. Every person coming into Key Club should leave knowing that they did something special. They could have made someone's gloomy day bright or someone's struggles a bit more bearable. To a friend, to a complete stranger or even to themselves, they were a silver lining in the midst of hardship, a hope in spite of despair. Whatever they did, whatever the impact of their service to others, I want members to remember that Key Club was something special, a Club of Memories. I want them to look back with a smile and say, "Hey! Remember that time when..."

works to protect children and their rights, ensuring protection for children suffering from war, poverty, disabilities, exploitation, and violence. UNICEF also advocates for the equal rights of women and girls and are working to accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals, which are set to attain a sustainable future and leave no one behind.

March of Dimes

strives to prevent birth defects and infant deaths by conducting research on infant health. They are committed to preventing premature births and have launched campaigns to promote the importance of prenatal care.

Children's Miracle Network

raises funds for children’s hospitals, medical research and awareness for children’s health issues. They have raised funds for 170 children’s hospitals across North America.
