There will be a new parade route for the 2023 fall fair parade – to help avoid crossing 8th Street.

Rotary Club of Dawson Creek’s Joe Judge was on hand at city hall this morning – proposing a new route for the fall fair parade.

Judge and more noted the key issue – avoiding crossing the highway – 8th Street.

Traditionally starting at the DC Co-op – the proposal this year will see the parade begin between the Library and O’Brien school. It will then work its way through the downtown core, including passing city hall before heading south at the Mile Zero Flags on 10th Street, making its way south to the Library, across the Dawson editor@dcdn.ca

Creek m to NLC for the parade’s traditional conclusion.

“There are some really good pros to move to this location,” said Judge about the larger muster/gathering area between O’Brien School and the DC Public Library. The less congested nature compared to gathering along 8th Street - a provincial highway - was also noted.

Council noted letting the public know about the change will be key.

“We will be starting this week, and will have people at the Co-op the day-of as well,” added Judge.
