FANTASTIC FILM FESTIVAL

Northern Lights - Fantastic Film Festival is a short film festival based in Akureyri in the North East region of Iceland. The festival selects and showcases around 40 international fantastic films, including horror and sci-fi, being narrative, animated, or documentaries.

The goal is to bring something fantastic to the cinema for all age groups of fantasy film lovers, award filmmakers who make fantasy films, and encourage filmmakers to be inspired by the treasure of Icelandic folklore. The festival also hosts many other local and collaborative fantastic events!

The goal is to have an intimate but fantastic weekend in the beautiful North!

Combined with their shared love for films, culture, history, and folklore, they make up a superteam - perfect for curating and coordinating a fantastic film festival under the northern lights at the edge of the arctic circle.

HONORARY AWARD 2023 CHRISTOPHER NEWMAN

Northern Lights - Fantastic Film Festival Is truly honored and quite ecstatic to give producer Christopher Newman our first honorary award for his contribution to fantastic film works.

Mr. Newman will be attending our amazing festival in October to participate and serve as a jury member. Christopher is a highly acclaimed film producer and assistant director, known for Games of Thrones, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Love Actually, The Remains of the Day, and many more. Christopher has won many awards for his work in films including 6 Primetime Emmy Awards and received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the Indie Short Fest and IndieX Film Festival. Christoper is well familiar with producing projects of the fantastic genre and we couldn't be more excited to have him on board!
