About Northern Light School

Northern Light School is an independent, coeducational school serving students in Preschool to 8th grade. Our mission is to provide an empowering education for children from all cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Our small class sizes (capped at 20) ensure that students have the opportunity to practice problem solving, collaboration, and inquiry-based learning, while expressing their knowledge in creative and critical ways.

Northern Light is deeply committed to social justice, and the importance of developing engaged citizens who, in the words of Paolo Freire, “participate in the transformation of their worlds.”

Middle School Program Grades 6 - 8

About the Middle School The Middle School Program is made up of Math, English, Language Arts, History, Science, Spanish, Visual Arts, Physical Education, Technology and Service Learning. Each course is part of a larger departmental continuum that spans grades 6-8, however, teachers may adapt their learning style. Our goals are to challenge and support students as they learn content and practice the particular skills for each discipline. Our Middle School faculty provides the means for students to be successful in each of their courses and create opportunities for students to assume greater responsibility for their education.

Our Legacy Since 1995, Northern Light School has graduated over 300 young people who have pursued, or are currently pursuing secondary academic careers at prestigious, private, parochial, and boarding schools nationwide.
