In order to make training available throughout our service region and beyond, we have face-to-face offerings in many locations, and utilize technology to offer NLC LIVE Online™ and Anytime, Anywhere training. We truly strive to provide training where and when it’s needed.

DELIVERY METHODS We offer various delivery methods to make our training convenient and accessible for you. We offer face-to-face, NLC LIVE Online™, and NLC Anytime, Anywhere deliveries:

Face-to-face The traditional mode of course delivery, face-to-face courses allow you to participate in the same room as your classmates.

NLC LIVE Online™ You can be anywhere (e.g., at work, at home, in camp, on vacation) and still take training with others at the same time.

All you need is: • Desktop or laptop computer • High speed internet • Speakers and microphone, preferably a headset (if you do not have a microphone you can still use the chat function to ask questions or make comments) Important Information about NLC LIVE Online™ training: • All courses take place during Canadian Mountain Standard Time.

• Courses are recorded and are made available to participants for 180 days or more.

• Course attendance verification or course certification is only granted for those who participate as individuals. If you miss the class and view the recording, attendance verification and/or certification will not be granted (there are exceptions, contact CE&CT for more information).

AMP/MMP Information Session (MM01)

This free course provides an informational overview of the Asset Maintenance Management Professional and Maintenance Management Professional Certificate to help you decide if the program is for you.

Course 1: Asset Management Principles and Strategic Development (AMP001) In this course, you will gain an overview of the essentials of asset management in the context of ISO 5500x and identify opportunities for application of asset management concepts in your organization to realize value. Begin to discover asset management decision-making tools.

Course 2: Asset Management Capabilities Development (AMP002)

In this course, you will learn how to develop the organizational capability for engaging the workforce to achieve excellent asset management performance. Topics include organizational structure analysis to identify changes needed for a holistic asset management approach, change management, project management, systems thinking, training needs assessment, customer supplier relationships, adaptive organizations, and cultural discipline.

Prerequisite: Course 1: Asset Management Principles and Strategic Development (AMP001)

Course 3: Risk Management and Performance Improvement (AMP003) In this course, you will obtain an overview of risk management tools and techniques and how these techniques can be used to drive performance improvement through the planning, decision-making and operational phases of any corporate objective. See risk management in the context of holistic asset management in which all classes of assets are included: physical assets/equipment, knowledge/information assets, human resources, and strategy assets.

Prerequisite: Course 1: Asset Management Principles and Strategic Development (AMP001)

Course 4: Developing and Implementing Asset Lifecycle Delivery Activities (AMP004) In this course, you will gain an understanding of different characteristics and requirements for managing assets through the asset life cycle delivery stages from asset acquisition, through asset operations and maintenance, to asset disposal. Learn when to use various strategies and tactics and practice applying them to real-world examples.

Prerequisite: Course 1: Asset Management Principles and Strategic Development (AMP001)

Course 5: Asset Knowledge Management (AMP005) In this course, you will study asset information and knowledge management across the full asset life cycle from the front-end engineering design through to the “operate and maintain� phase and eventually to asset retirement. Referring to ISO 14224, the course provides a strategic level view of the important role that information and knowledge management play in an asset dependent organization.

Course 6: Asset Management Capstone (AMP006) In this course, you will review the elements of the previous courses and take the opportunity to bring the concepts together in an applied project. The project requires the development of an Asset Management Policy and Strategy for an organization as well as the development and implementation of an Asset Management Plan for a particular class of assets.

Prerequisite: Courses 1 - 5: AMP001-AMP005

Module 1: An Integrated Strategy for Maintenance Management (MMP001) This course introduces students to an integrated and holistic approach to maintenance and asset management.

Module 2: Production and Operations Management for the Maintenance Manager (MMP002)

In this course, learn how maintenance strategies are linked with operational needs.

Module 3: Human Resource Management for the Maintenance Manager (MMP003)

In this course, you will look at how human resources practices relate to the maintenance environment.

Module 4: Financial Management for the Maintenance Manager (MMP004) In this course, you will focus on the application of accounting and finance principles as it pertains to the maintenance management role.

Module 5: Developing and Implementing Maintenance Tactics (MMP005) This module focuses on maintenance efforts with the goal to ensure that physical assets safely, capably, reliably, and repeatedly perform to their designed specifications.

The focus is on techniques to develop maintenance tactics that will address how the assets are used, how they are likely to fail, the consequences of failure, and identifying maintenance tactics that are both feasible and worth doing.

Module 6: Maintenance Work Management (MMP006)

In this course, you will study the fundamentals of the work management processes, look at the key steps in the process, and get a more detailed overview of the basics of planning, scheduling, and work coordination methods.

Module 7: Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

(MMP007) In this course you will study the features, benefits, and effective use of a computerized maintenance management system or EAM computerized maintenance work management process.

Module 8: Maintenance Management Capstone Project (MMP008) In this course, you will select a project that will audit, assess, and improve your current maintenance department or develop a new maintenance strategy in your company.

Assisting Students with Learning Barriers (ESI004) In this course, you will get an overview of policies and procedures related to accommodating students. You will see how to identify potential issues and address them before they affect your students. Using Universal Design for Learning concepts and strategies, you will practice adapting your course to make it more accessible for all learners.

Certified Asset Management Assessor Preparation

(CAMA01) The Certified Asset Management Assessor (CAMA) certification establishes an individual’s credentials in asset management knowledge and comprehension globally. Developed and authorized by PEMAC, the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada, this course prepares asset management professionals who are considering writing the Certified Asset Management Assessor Exam.

Prerequisites: -must have a minimum 5 years of working experience in asset management -should have working knowledge of ISO 5500x Standards and understand the GFMAM Competency Specification for an ISO 55001 Asset Management System Auditor/Assessor

Creating a Positive Learning Environment (ESI001)

In this course, you will identify strategies to create and maintain an inclusive classroom climate and to maintain and reinforce rapport throughout the learning situation.

Effective Online Instruction (ESI005)

In this online course, you will enhance your teaching with innovative and engaging online strategies, including online discussions. You will see how to keep students involved with you, the course materials, and each other.

Planning Instruction (ESI002)

In this course, you will explore learning theories that will help in designing instruction.

You will develop your skills in writing measurable and achievable learning objectives, and then develop effective learning activities and assessments that align with these objectives.

Welding - B Pressure or CWB Exam Preparation (TT055-TT059) This workshop will provide you with seven hours per registered day of instructional support and testing of completed coupons by bend testing. Training will be set up specific to desired welding process and test positions. All materials and tools will be provided. Students can chose from one to five days. This training is located in Slave Lake and the training is ongoing so you can register anytime!

Bookkeeper and Financial Clerk/Assistant Training (BU349)

This course prepares people who are interested in writing the Institute of Professional Bookkeepers of Canada exam. This course is comprised of two modules taken consecutively as one course. The first module will show students what is actually happening behind the entry screens on their computer, providing students with a better overall understanding of accounting processes. The second module teaches students how to enter financial transactions such as accounts receivable/payable, payroll, GST/HST, and bank/cash accounts into QuickBooks (a popular accounting software program).

(AA002) This course focuses on writing style, tone, clarity, conciseness, and results while exploring time-saving approaches.

Delivering Exceptional Customer Service (AA001) This course examines the key to exceptional customer service by emphasizing the importance of first impressions, positive service image, and customer-focused approaches for service.

Minute Taking (AA003)

This course includes agenda preparation, minute taking formats for different types of meetings, Rules of Order, how to make a motion, and more.

MS Excel 2016: Level 1 (CC165)

This six-hour session will introduce students to the capabilities of the MS Excel program.

Learn how to create a basic spreadsheet using common formulas and functions. You will also learn how to format your worksheet to make it visually appealing and easier to read.

MS Excel 2016: Level 2 (CC166) This six-hour session is for people who are intermediate to advanced users of MS Excel.

Learn how to create and use charts and tables, as well as how to analyze your data using pivot tables. You will also explore other features that make it easier to find and organize data, especially when working with large spreadsheets.

This course gives you the opportunity to collaborate with others sharing similar advocacy interests. Equipment Maintenance and Service – Introduction

(WOLF0004) This course will provide the equipment operator with a general understanding of basic service, maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of heavy equipment used in forestry applications.

Safety aspects of servicing equipment are presented in detail.

Equipment Maintenance and Service – Machine Electrical Systems (WOLF0025) This course is intended to provide the participant with the knowledge to be able to troubleshoot electrical system problems and either repair minor problems or relate the nature of the problem to a qualified technician.

Equipment Maintenance and Service – Machine Hydraulics (WOLF0024) This course includes basic knowledge which will enable an employee to troubleshoot hydraulic system problems and either repair or relate the nature of the problem to a qualified technician.

Equipment Maintenance and Service – Measuring Systems (WOLF0026)

This course will teach you how to identify different measuring systems and their components, explain the logistics with calibrating, the differences between scaling methods, basic troubleshooting, and list the effects of routine maintenance.

Healthy Landscapes (AFS003) This course introduces the Boreal Forest, describes how both natural and human-caused disturbance affects ecology, connects habitat to the species present, and explains the concepts of natural, current, and future ranges of variation to provide a basis for planning for healthy landscapes.

Innovative Pipeline Strategies (WOLF0059) This course will prepare operators to build small gas-gathering pipelines in forested ecosystems, while understanding the factors affecting forest health and the strategies to minimize the impact of pipeline construction on the forest.

Integrated Resource Management (FS003)

This course will appeal to a broad range of forest workers at all education levels. The goal of this course is to increase understanding of the broader environmental, social, and economic impacts of resource development in Alberta, and the manner in which the Government of Alberta and industrial partners are addressing those impacts.

Introduction to Forest Management

(WOLF0076) This course aims to introduce the key elements of forest management in Alberta to forest workers at all education levels. It will introduce the concepts of forestry management (including a historical context), the importance of the forest industry in Alberta, and forest management trends.

Plant Identification and Introduction to Site Classification

(AFS001) In this course you will learn to identify a variety of Boreal plants through knowledge of the plants, characteristic parts, life cycles, site, soils and moisture preferences, and associations with other plant types, in a variety of seasonal life stages. These plant associations are the basis for an understanding of Boreal ecosystems.

Water and Wastewater Operator Preparation Level 1 (WTR01)

In this course, you will become proficient in the support systems and technical aspects of water and wastewater treatment, water distribution, and wastewater collection.

This training is designed to prepare existing operators or new incumbents to learn more about the roles and responsibilities of water and wastewater operators, and to write the Level 1 Water and Wastewater Operator provincial certification exam with Alberta Environment and Parks.

Woodland Business Reporting

(WOLF0032) This course is intended to provide business owners and managers with the tools necessary to manage business reporting.

Woodland Contract Management (WOLF0094) This course will appeal to woodlands personnel, contractors, and consultants involved in negotiating, supervising, or planning woodlands contracts. The course will focus on a collaborative approach to contract negotiation, and serve as an introduction to project management.

Woodland Dispositions (WOLF0092) This course is designed for operators and woodland field personnel working in industries responsible for managing Alberta’s forests, including forestry, oil, and gas. This course will give participants a basic understanding of the regulations guiding practice in the forest and when they are applicable.

Woodland Environmental Management Systems, Certification, and Compliance (AFS004)

This course is designed for operators and woodland field personnel, and provides an overview of certification, EMS, legislation, and regulation in use today.

Woodland GPS/SIS (WOLF0091) This course will describe the fundamentals behind both GPS and GIS and will allow the organization holding the course to customize an exercise using their equipment.

Woodland Harvest Block and Road Layout (WOLF0048) This course is designed to prepare forestry workers and planners who have been charged with the task of developing or implementing operating plans. Layout crews will be better equipped to apply sound decision making principles when making plan modifications in the field, and will understand the importance of documentation, data integrity, and quality assurance.

Woodland Harvest Strategies in Alberta: Level 1 (WOLF0018) This course is designed to familiarize the participant with some of the forces that shape the forest harvesting industry, and provide a detailed guide to harvest equipment and how it is used for maximum productivity and safety.

Woodland Historical Resources

(FS004) This course will appeal to a broad range of forest workers at all education levels.

The course goal is to increase awareness and understanding of the importance of historic sites in Alberta, with an aim of having forest workers identify and protect new and existing sites.

Woodland Insects, Diseases, and Weeds in Alberta

(WOLF0011) This course is designed for anyone working in the resource development industries, and is especially applicable to those who work in the woods and depend on healthy forests for their livelihood.

Woodland Machines Costing (WOLF0030) This course will familiarize the participant with the costs associated with owning and/or operating forestry equipment. The participant will be able to understand the factors affecting the forestry equipment profitability, identify the components of ownership costs, define and list overhead costs associated with forestry equipment, identify and describe the components of operating costs, and demonstrate the impacts of four operating scenarios using a cost structure worksheet.

Woodland Mapping and AVI (WOLF0090) This course is designed for operators and woodland field personnel using a wide variety of maps for different forest activities.

Woodland Operations Business Plans

(WOLF0031) This course will help you develop a business plan. This plan will help with everything from marketing, competitive advantages, business goals, to business type. The plan is a reference document that will help you benchmark your progress in your business and that can introduce your business to financiers and potential customers.

Woodland Operations Fire Prevention

Woodland Road Construction

(WOLF0021) This course is meant for those new to the operational side of resource road building. It is an introductory overview of the development of forest roads in Alberta and is meant to work alongside other WOLF courses, including Woodland Water Quality, Erosion Control, and Crossing Construction; Woodland Soils; Woodland Road Reclamation; and Woodland Road Maintenance.

Woodland Road Maintenance

(WOLF0045) This course is designed to give solid reasons for being smart with our roads, especially where they cross streams. The outcome we are hoping for is that participants will be able to construct road crossings that are safe and environmentally effective.

Woodland Road Reclamation (WOLF0044) This course is meant for those new to the operational side of woodland reclamation.

It is an introductory overview of the development of forest reclamation in Alberta.

Woodland Soils (FS006)

This course will provide practical ideas to forestry contractors, equipment operators, and field supervisors, so that together, they can minimize the damage to forest soils during forest operations. The opportunity to protect forest soil occurs at each step of the forest-management process, from harvest planning, to field layout, to harvesting, and reforestation activities.

Woodland Species at Risk

(WOLF0073) This course will appeal to contractors, supervisors, and harvest planning staff. The goal is to increase awareness of the legislation and strategies in place in Alberta that are designed to protect species at risk.

Woodland Stewardship (WOLF0010)

This course is designed for a wide range of people with an interest in the forest sector. Participants will not need a background in forest management to understand the concepts that are presented.

Woodland Stewardship and Introduction to Forest Management (FS001)

(WOLF0038) This course presents what is currently the most widely accepted system of monitoring stream crossings in Alberta. As inspectors become more highly skilled at identifying problems with bridges and culverts, they will be better prepared to generate solutions and reduce liability. The course will provide the industrial user with a standard approach to crossing inspection and risk assessment.

Woodland Water Hydrology

(WOLF0034) This course will provide the industrial user with an understanding of hydrological factors that affect the crossing design. This will improve communication between the engineers and reduce crossing failures.

Woodland Water Legislation (WOLF0098)

This course presents the intent of water legislation standards and its key features.

As people learn what the requirements are for specific watercourse types, they will be better prepared to choose the correct crossings, install them competently, and ultimately reduce legal liability.

Woodland Water Quality, Erosion Control, and Crossing Construction (FS005)

This course is intended to provide information about the fundamentals of water quality and develop competency in watercourse crossing construction. By learning the fundamentals, industrial construction personnel will create less sedimentation, reduce losses to aquatic habitats, and reduce construction and maintenance costs.

The company will also be exposed to less risk contravening existing provincial and federal legislation.

Woodland Wildfire Awareness

(AFS002) This course will show the severity of the risk to ecosystems, infrastructure, and to human life. The course will describe the contributing factors and identify trends in risk. There will be a discussion of some mitigation strategies to reduce risks.

Woodland Wildlife and Biodiversity and Woodland Species at Risk (FS002)

This course is designed for forest managers in Alberta who apply wildlife conservation principles in all phases of harvest planning. The people who carry out those plans will benefit by knowing when specific practices are required, and why it makes a difference. Anyone who reads the Annual Operating Plan, or is given a harvest plan map and must operate according to the ground rules, will benefit from this course.

Air Brakes

(DT006) This course is ideal for drivers who want to know how to operate vehicles equipped with air brakes. This course prepares learners to write the Alberta Air Brake test at their local registry office.

All-Terrain Vehicle Safety (SA005) This course will certify you as an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) rider by the Alberta Safety Council, which is a requirement of many employers in both the forest and petroleum industries. Students must supply their own registered and insured ATV, safety gear, and weather-appropriate clothing.

Confined Space Entry / Rescue (SA006)

This course combines theory, demonstrations, and practice of entry into confined/restricted workspaces.

Construction Safety Training System (CSTS-09) (SA003-OL)

This course gives a basic overview of various health and safety topics, and students are tested for 100% mastery of content. This program has become a pre-entry requirement for many construction industry work sites. It is certified by the Alberta Construction Safety Association.

Defensive Driving

(DT005-OL) This course covers the theory behind safe driving practices. A driver’s license is not required. Completers are eligible for a three demerit reduction on their Alberta driving record.

Fall Protection (SA073)

This course focuses on how to identify fall hazards and on a fall protection plan, protecting those that work at heights of three metres or greater.

Ground Disturbance: Level II

(SA004) This course covers the physical properties and health hazards of H2S, how to protect yourself, and basic rescue techniques.

Professional Driver Improvement Course – 3 Demerit Reduction Program (Alberta Only) (DT004-OL)

This course is specifically for drivers involved in the transportation field, including buses and vehicles designated for Class 3 and Class 1. Completers are eligible for a three demerit reduction on their Alberta driving record.

Power Mobile Equipment (PME): Awareness (PME100) This course provides an educational overview to those who have a relationship in Power Mobile Equipment (PME) use, discussed from a safety perspective. Topics presented include what is PME, operator competency and responsibilities, plus the obligation of the employer. Legislation relating to PME, hazard identification, and what to do if an incident occurs, will be reviewed.

Power Mobile Equipment (PME): Risk Management (PME102) This course provides information aimed at owners, managers, and safety personnel, as it relates to Power Mobile Equipment (PME). Topics include what is PME, the worker’s rights, and details occupational health and safety offences and penalties.

Operator competency, responsibilities and training, plus the obligations of the employer are discussed.

Power Mobile Equipment (PME): Safe Operation

(PME101) This course is designed for operators of Power Mobile Equipment (PME). Standard First Aid - Level C CPR / AED

(FA001) This course includes treatment for choking, control of bleeding, treatment and prevention of shock, child and infant resuscitation, one adult and two-rescuer CPR and AED use. Fractures of the limbs, head and spinal injuries, eye injuries, burns, medical conditions, environmental injuries, wound care, and secondary survey are also covered. This course requires that you be physically fit for the practical exercises.

Standard First Aid - Level C CPR / AED Recertification

(FA012) This course is intended for those who have a current Standard First Aid – Level C certificate and includes a review of essential skills with a focus on theoretical and practical skills testing. Includes Level C CPR recertification and AED recertification.

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) - Clear Language (SA001-OL) This online course includes a thorough exam and printable certificate to meet Transport Canada’s training requirements for all employees involved in the transportation of dangerous goods.

Utility-Terrain Vehicle (UTV) Safety (SA1102) This course will certify you as an All-Terrain Vehicle (UTV) rider by the Alberta Safety Council. Students must supply their own registered and insured UTV, safety gear, and weather appropriate clothing. Two riders may share one machine. All machines will undergo a pre-trip safety inspection.

Northern Lakes College launched the Power Mobile Equipment course series at the Rural Utilities Safety Association’s 45th Annual Health, Safety, & Utility Conference & Trade Show in Red Deer in December 2018. The course series aims to reduce injuries, accidents, damage, and improve overall safe operation and work conditions for powered mobile equipment. The cost of course development, administration, and offerings is covered by funds administered through the provinces Occupational Health & Safety Act. The funds are the result of a creative sentencing decision after a workplace accident ended in a fatality in the province of Alberta. NLC was awarded the funds with the aim of developing power mobile equipment training that will increase workplace safety and decrease the risk of injuries or deaths in the future.

The training has a wide target audience including employers with work sites using powered mobile equipment, powered mobile equipment operators, individuals working around powered mobile equipment, management, leadership, supervisors, and youth entering the workforce.

The Power Mobile Equipment (PME) course series includes: • PME100: Awareness (1 hour) • PME101: Safe Operation (3 hours) • PME102: Risk Management (3 hours) • PME103: Safe Operation and Risk Management (6 hours) “We are always trying to find a cure for the cause. This course increases awareness and training regarding the safe use of powered mobile equipment, with the aim to prevent any further injuries or fatalities. Northern Lakes College has been fabulous to work with. It is encouraging to see NLC deliver this type of course, as it will reach multiple industries in the province. Canada Alberta Job Grant

The Canada-Alberta Job Grant is an employerdriver training program. Employers decide who gets training and what type of training is needed for new and existing employees.

To qualify for funding, training must: • be a minimum of 21 hours in length • be completed within one year of the training start date • be provided by a third party • not replace prior training investments • result in a record of completion, a mark, a certificate or an industry- recognized credential Training can be completed online, on-site, and in the classroom, part-time or full-time. Northern Lakes College has established Community Adult Learning Programs in five communities within the NLC service region.

Northern Lakes College is able to enhance the entire adult learning continuum, bringing, or Basic Education Level (BEL) programming and employability skills classes to residents in these communities.

Students are able to access the local NLC campus to take the online courses, use the computer labs, and access other resources onsite. The cost of books and tuition for the BEL courses in these communities is covered by the CALP funding. Programming is available to both full-time and part-time students.

1. Is there a registration deadline for CE&CT courses?

No, unless otherwise stated. However, we encourage you to register at least one week in advance, and we offer a discount for some courses if you do. There is also an extra shipping fee that may apply for any courses with books or material if you register after this time.

2. Is there a cancellation fee?

Yes. Some course have a withhold fee for any changes or cancellations so please read the policy associated with your course.

3. Can I reschedule a course?

You can reschedule most of our courses if needed. Just contact us prior to the refund policy date. Most courses require three business days, others require more. There are some asynchronous courses that are non-refundable so please check each course for details.

4. Are all books and supplies included with my course?

No. The Asset Management Program requires students to order and purchase their own materials, for which we provide the list. For most other courses the costs and materials are included.

5. Are materials and books refundable?

No. Books and resources are non-refundable. If there is a special circumstance or error in the registration, contact us immediately and we may be able to reverse the fees prior to sending out resources.

6. Can I take a NLC LIVE Online™ course using a tablet or phone?

We recommend that all courses be taken using a desktop or laptop computer as there are limitations with other devices. We do suggest that you use a phone/tablet as a backup device only.

7. Do I have to have a headset for NLC LIVE Online™ training?

Yes, it is highly recommended to make the class more collaborative. However, we do have a chat box communication feature as well.

8. What if I miss a NLC LIVE Online™ class?

All LIVE Online courses are recorded. If you have to miss a class, notify the instructor and watch the recording. Note: Some courses have a maximum number of classes you can miss, so please read your course information carefully.

9. How will I be notified of course cancellations and changes?

We do our best to give notice to students by phone. However, we highly recommend checking your emails as we always send updates by email.

10. Where can I see a program-specific schedule with costs and dates?

Visit our website www.northernlakescollege.ca/cect. Under each program you will find program resources to save or print. This is certificate specific. Go to our website to sign up for our newsletter and to get schedules and the “month at a glance” sent right to your email. You can unsubscribe anytime!

11. What if I don’t see dates for the course that I want in the Lifelong Learning Guide schedule?

Check the website for the most up-to-date information. Call if you would like to put your name on our course interest list, or if you would like to arrange for a private or custom offering at your location.

12. What is Blue Seal- and what courses do you offer that qualify?

Blue Seal Certification in Alberta is a recognition of development of business competencies for Journeymen from Alberta Industry Training. 13. How robust is the training associated with MMP relative to other offerings out there?

Besides attendance at instructor-led LIVE Online sessions, MMP participants have reading assignments from course textbooks, homework assignments to apply concepts and exams.

Modules 1 - 7 each have a 3 hour exam and Module 8 is a 30 hour Capstone Project, which requires the participants to apply the learning outcomes of Modules 1 - 7 to a relevant project at their place of employment.

14. Will I receive a T2202 if I was sponsored to take training?

Yes, you will still get the T2202, and your employer should issue a corresponding T4A for the amount paid on your behalf. You cannot claim the tuition amounts if they were paid or reimbursed by your employer. 15. How long does it take to complete the Essential Skills Certificate Programs?

These programs are comprised of two day modules offered throughout the year in various northern Alberta locations. It will usually take about 2.5 years to complete a program depending on your location and availability to take the scheduled training.

16. How long do I have to complete a program offered through CE&CT?

You will have 5 years from the start date of a program to complete the courses in the series.

If you need an extension, contact us to review your request.

17. When will I get my Certificate if I have completed a CE&CT program?

Twice a year (December and June) CE&CT staff will review the records to determine who qualifies for certification. We will send a letter of congratulations along with a Certificate of Completion in January and July.

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for all Continuing Education & Corporate Training courses. Some courses fill quickly. In most cases you can be added to a waiting list and contacted if a space becomes available or if there are enough students for a second class.

There is no application process required - just find your courses and add them to your shopping cart to register online. From there you can create an account if you are a new student. If you are a returning student all you have to do is enter your student ID and password, and update your contact information if necessary. Register! It’s easy as 1-2-3!

Continuing Education Portal:

The online Continuing Education portal is a secure portal where you can register and make payment online for your Continuing Education & Corporate Training course www.northernlakescollege.ca/online-registration.

1. Log in using your student ID and password if you are a returning student.

2. Create an account if you are a new student or if you have forgotten your student ID and password.

3. Employers who wish to sponsor individuals can provide them with a Purchase Order or Sponsor Letter that lists the following: course name, date, location, person you wish to sponsor, and the company address for invoicing purposes. The employee can register by selecting Purchase Order / Sponsor Letter as the form of payment and upload the document.

Cancellation

Northern Lakes College reserves the right to reschedule or cancel a course that lacks sufficient registrations to provide a satisfactory learning atmosphere. In this event, your registration will be refunded in full or applied to the rescheduled course. You will be notified by email if changes or cancellations are made.

Payments and Fees

Fees are due at the time of registration. We accept the following methods of payment: Cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Cheque, Money Order, Debit, Purchase Order, or Gift Card.

Prerequisites

All course prerequisites are listed on our website if applicable. If you register without the required courses, you will receive an email requesting proof of completion. If they are not submitted by the deadline, you will be withdrawn from the course.

Books, Materials, and Shipping Fees

Books, materials, and shipping fees are non-refundable.

Refunds, Withdrawals, and Transfers

Refund, withdrawal, and transfer policies are listed with each course, visit our website for complete details. They are also outlined on the Confirmation of Registration you receive by email after enrolling in your course. Exceptions to the policies can be arranged by contacting our office for approval.

If a refund or transfer is approved, reimbursement will be made via the original payment method. Fees paid by Credit Card will be refunded to the same Credit Card with proof of payment. Cheques will be issued for all other forms of payment and may take up to two weeks or more to process. They will be sent to the address on the student’s account unless payment was made by a company.

Failure to attend does not constitute a withdrawal. It is the student’s responsibility to take note of the Continuing Education Refund, Withdrawal, and Transfer policy. To withdraw or Transfer from a course, the student enrolled in the course must contact our office via email work@northernlakescollege.ca or phone the Continuing Education office 780-849-8623 during regular business hours 8:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The effective date of the withdrawal is the date you contact our office by phone or email and the email or call is received by the Continuing Education office.
