The Northeast Arc Recreation Department runs on a fiscal year calendar starting July 1 and ending June 30. We run our programs in 6 different sessions throughout the fiscal year; all are open enrollment and offer new and exciting programs! Each session runs for 8 weeks at a time. Our schedule is below (approximate dates): Summer Session: July - August Session 1: August - October Session 2: October - December Session 3: January - February Session 4: February - April Session 5: April - June Program descriptions, pricing, and staffing ratios can all be found online by visiting RecDesk at nearcrec.recdesk.com. The purpose of creating an account is to gather information about the client interested in attending, gather emergency contact information, and ensure Recreation can meet the client’s needs. • Wait 5-7 days to receive an email from recreation@ne-arc.org to your email address listed on your account. • Make sure to check your spam folder. • The email will be requesting an intake via Teams or in person. • Intakes take 30-45 minutes to complete. • Choose the best time and day for you and the client (must be present during intake). • The account will not be approved until you have completed an intake with the Recreation Department to ensure Recreation can meet the client’s needs. *A strict staffing ratio for each program is maintained; that ratio is included in the program description which can be located on Rec Desk. Please consider the ratios when determining if a program is an appropriate fit. Registration is required to attend programming and no drop in/off are allowed at this time. Registration closes after one week; however, if you miss the open window, contact us at recreation@ne-arc.org or add your client to the wait list for that specific program. **Adding clients to the wait list allows us to determine program needs. The team will do their best to accommodate all clients when possible. Please note you may be removed from the waitlist as late as 48 hours prior to the start of a Friday Night Happenings or Saturday Community Activity due to cancellations.

Cancellation Policy
For Monday - Friday Recreation Programming, a 24-hour cancellation notice via email to Recreation@ne-arc.org or phone call to 978-924-5353 is required for a credit on your account if paid in full. • If you have not paid in full your invoice will be adjusted accordingly. • If you do not notify the Recreation Department about your cancellation; you will be charged for the program missed. For Saturday Recreation Programming, 48 – 72 hours cancellation notice via email to Recreation@ne-arc.org or phone call to 978-924-5353 is required for a credit on your account if paid in full. • If you have not paid in full, your invoice will be adjusted accordingly. • If you do not notify the Recreation Department about your cancellation; you will be charged for the program missed.
Inclement Weather Cancellations
If the Recreation Department must cancel programming due to inclement weather, staffing or any other unforeseeable event the following will occur: • An email from recreation@ne-arc.org will be sent providing all applicable information. • Your account will be adjusted accordingly.
Approved DDS Funded Clients
Allocation for DDS funding are accepted through: • Adult Autism Support Center • Family Resource Center Payment Process • Select fee type ‘DDS’. • Go to check out. • Select Invoice Me (Pay Later).
Flex Funding Form By selecting invoice me later; you are agreeing to submit a Flex Funding Form to be kept on file for the remainder of the fiscal year. Flex Funding Forms can be found in the FORMS tab at the top of the RecDesk website. • Select the form that matches your funding source (listed above). • The Recreation Department will submit your signed flex funding form to the appropriate Northeast Arc allocation center.
Transportation Information
Transportation drop-off and pick up is required for all recreation programming, including Friday Night Happenings and Saturday Community Activities. To help us provide safe, quality programs, participants are to be escorted into program sites. It’s very important that you do not leave anyone at a program site without confirming that program staff has arrived. Before leaving the building, please ensure that the participant is checked in with a member of the Recreation staff. Participants should not arrive more than 15 minutes early nor be picked up more than 15 minutes after the program ends. If your family member will be utilizing The Ride or any other transportation service, please schedule drop-off as close to the program time as possible. The safety of our participants is paramount.
Emergency Protocol
Northeast Arc Recreation staff will not utilize restraints in any situation. In the event of an emergency or severe behavioral occurrence, the supervising employee will call 911, safely secure the area, and notify the parent/guardian immediately. In the event of minor injuries — bumps, bruises, scrapes — first aid will be administered on-site.
Special Olympics of Massachusetts Northeast Arc has partnered with Special Olympics Massachusetts to provide free sports training and the ability to participate in various competitions. We offer 15 different sports throughout four sport seasons. Through sports we are able to teach the importance of exercise and teamwork as well as build strength, confidence, and achieve new goals. Weights & Wellness 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Cost: $165 Location: Liberty Tree Mall Weights & Wellness is about more than exercise. It’s about creating opportunities for individuals to feel successful, connected, empowered and healthy. Whether someone is lifting weights, moving to the music, following the rhythm through vibration, participating from a seated position or simply enjoying the positive group atmosphere, every participant is an important part of the experience. • Improve muscular strength and endurance • Increase balance, stability and body awareness • Enhance core strength for everyday activities • Foster the positive effects of movement on mood and emotional well-being **6 Weeks** Yoga with Kat 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Cost: $165 Location: Liberty Tree Mall Kat is the owner of Cherry on Top Yoga + Wellness, a 200‑hour Registered Yoga Teacher, and a Reiki Master. Yoga inspires her to live and cherish her moments freely, and that perspective shapes the way she shares her practice with others. Cherry On Top Yoga + Wellness offers regular group classes, 1:1 sessions, corporate wellness programs, workshops, events, and team‑building experiences. Kat guides students through a variety of practices, including Vinyasa, Slow Flow, Yin, and Restorative yoga, and works with children, adults, seniors, and individuals with diverse abilities. She creates sessions that are welcoming and adaptable, offering gentle assists, a steady presence, and sprinkles of humor. When she’s not leading sessions, Kat enjoys time with her family, traveling, being outdoors, and sharing playful moments with their chocolate lab, Riley. She encourages each person to honor themselves for showing up, helping yoga feel approachable and rooted in real‑life experience. **6 Weeks**
Cooking 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Cost: $175 Ratio: 4:1 Location: Liberty Tree Mall Discover the joy of cooking during this 8-week hands-on culinary program! Whether you’re a beginner or looking to sharpen your skills, you’ll learn about essential kitchen techniques, food and knife safety, and cook all different types of recipes. Come hungry and leave full, as you will get to enjoy a delicious meal and yummy dessert that you and your friends prepare. All clients will be given a folder with all the information introduced, along with copies of all recipes. To enroll in this program participants must complete an online kitchen preparedness survey. An email with this survey will be delivered ahead of the first day of class. Registration will not be confirmed without completing this form. *Reminder to all participants: Closed toed shoes in the kitchen are a must during this program. Please do not wear flip flops, sandals, or crocs (with the holes, solid crocs are fine) to cooking class. **Registration for the entire 6 weeks is required. **

Recreation Juniors (11-16 Years old) 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. Cost: $175 Ratio: 6:1 2 Weeks of each: Social, Art, Drums, Gaming Not sure what activity to choose? Try them all! Recreation Juniors gives teens the chance to explore a different Northeast Arc Recreation program each session. From sports and fitness to arts, games, cooking, and social activities, participants will discover new interests, build friendships, and have fun in a supportive and inclusive environment. Come ready to try something new and find your next favorite activity! The first week will focus on introductions and working together to plan our session. The following six weeks will explore recreation programs. Recreation programs we will explore are Art, Drums, and Gaming. We will focus on each program for two weeks at a time. The final week will be spent reflecting on the session, hanging out with friends, and revisiting the cohorts’ favorite program. Zumba Cost: $145 Time: 4:30 p.m - 5:30 p.m. Ratio: 6:1 Location: Liberty Tree Mall Get ready to dance, sweat, and smile in this high-energy 45-minute Zumba class - led by Recreation’s Becca!! Designed
for all fitness levels, Zumba combines Latin and today’s hit music with easy-to-follow dance moves that create a fun and effective cardio workout. Expect a full-body workout that improves cardiovascular health, boosts energy, and burns calories - all while having a blast. Whether you’re a beginner or a dancing pro this class will keep you moving, motivated, and coming back for more! What to bring: Water bottle, towel, and your best dance attitude! Wear: Comfortable workout clothes and supportive sneakers. Studio Art @ the Arc 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Cost: $175 Ratio: 6:1 Location: Liberty Tree Mall Join Recreation for 8 weeks of Art with the Arc. Tap into your creativity when you join us at the Liberty Tree Mall for our Studio Arts program, on Tuesday evenings! During this 8-week program you will participate in a variety of creative endeavors including: crafting, painting, drawing, sculpting and much more. This is a beginner level class that strives to accommodate all abilities. ***Registration for the 8-week series is required.*** Boxing at TITLE Boxing 4:15 p.m. - 5 p.m. Cost: $175 Ratio: 6:1 Location: 29 Andover St, Danvers, MA 01923 Train like a boxer and feel like a champion with our 45-minute classes. Once you get in your zone (this doesn’t take long), the class will fly by and you won’t even believe it’s over once the final bell rings. Your 45-Minute Class will consist of: 7 minutes
of ramp-up + 8 bag rounds/active recovery + 7 minutes of core and strength. This class is just boxing! IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR NEW TITLE BOXING MEMBERS: Boxing gloves and wraps must be purchased before attending class and are not included in the 8-week series cost. One can purchase this equipment at Title Boxing on the first day of class. **Registration for the 8-week series is required.**
Wednesday Pickleball @ The Picklr 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Cost: $200 Ratio: 6:1 Location: The Picklr Danvers Pickleball has been the fastest growing sport in the country, and Recreation has been lucky enough to start a brand-new partnership with The Picklr, right across the street from us! This program is designed to be about getting active, building skills, and having fun. We will be learning the pickleball fundamentals, doing guided drills, learning the rules, scores, and basically everything you need to know to play the sport. Recreation will provide the necessary equipment (paddles and balls). Clients will need to wear clothes to be active in, bring water, a good attitude, and a willingness to try something new! Bowling at Sunnyside Bowladrome 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Cost: $175 Ratio: 8:1 Location: 176 Water St, Danvers, MA 01923 Join us at Sunnyside Bowladrome in Danvers for an exciting afternoon of bowling with friends. Please arrive at this program as close to 4 pm as possible. The first game begins no later than 4:10pm, with the program ending between 5-5:30pm. Each player bowls 2 games. In this program we focus on turn taking skills, social skills, and good sportsmanship. ***Registration for the 8-week series is required. ***
Drums Alive Fitness 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. Cost: $145 Ratio: 6:1 Location: Liberty Tree Mall Drums Alive is a program that fosters a healthy balance physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. Thursday Golf @ Sun N Air Cost: $175 Time: 4 p.m - 5 p.m. Ratio: 6:1 Location: Sun N Air Golf Center Join us for a relaxing afternoon at Sun N Air Golf Center in Danvers, MA. We spend our time during this program on the driving range, practicing form and socializing with our peers. This program begins at 4 pm and concludes at 5 pm. Gaming Club 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Cost: $160 Ratio: 6:1 Location: Liberty Tree Mall Come to the Liberty Tree mall every Thursday and experience something with the “Gaming Club!” We will offer all sorts of activities for a variety of participation levels- casual, social, and competitive. The program will focus on teaching new games and building current skills to better enjoy these games. We also encourage participants to bring their own handheld console, or Nintendo switch games to share, if they desire.

Friday Night Happenings 9/4 Rainforest Reptile Show Cost: $25 Ratio: 6:1 Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Location: 6SS For over 32 years, Rainforest Reptile Shows has been bringing the wild to you by providing hands-on, immersive reptile experiences that educate, inspire, and entertain. We work with law enforcement, first responders, and educators to offer expert training and interactive learning, all while promoting ethical conservation with 100% rescued reptiles. 9/11 Guided Paint Night Cost: $25 Ratio: 6:1 Time: 6:00 – 8:00 PM Location: LTM Summer is winding down, but we do like to welcome fall! Join us for a guided paint night at the Liberty Tree Mall as our resident staff artists lead us through a fall themed painting. We’ll walk through the orchard with friends, pick all the best apples, hop on a hayride, say hi to the animals, and have just enough time for a cider donut! Honestly, it sounds like the perfect autumn afternoon. 9/19 Saturday Transportation: Lowell Kinetic Sculpture Race Cost: $60 Ratio: 5:1 Time: 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Location: LTM to Lowell, MA Meet us at the Liberty Tree Mall where we’ll load up on our Northeast Arc transportation for a trip to Lowell! We’ll spend the afternoon spectating the Kinetic Sculpture Race! Our plan is to arrive in Lowell just in time to watch the sculptures take on the Maddening Mud Pit! After the mud pit we’ll check out the live music and everything else the celebration has to offer. 9/26 Franklin Park Zoo Lights - Transportation Cost: $90 Ratio: 4:1 Time: 11:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. Location: LTM to Franklin Park Zoo Recreation is taking a night out on the town! We’re loading up and heading to Franklin Park Zoo for the Boston Lights: A Lantern Experience. This delicious menu includes gently roasted chicken, homemade broth, fresh veggies, a perfectly soft boiled egg, and of course lots of handmade ramen noodles. 10/24 Treats and Totes Cost: $50 Ratio: 4:1 Time: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Location: LTM We’re celebrating the fall vibes as we customize tote bags and make some yummy treats during this afternoon hang at the Liberty Tree Mall. We’ll have iron on patches, stamps, fabric markers, and so much more to customize your tote! When we’re not crafting we’ll take turns in the kitchen making snacks to take home and share.
The Northeast Arc was founded in 1954 by families of children with developmental disabilities—families who wanted to raise their sons and daughters as full members of their communities, mostly in cities and towns north of Boston. Those families were truly pioneers. They, and their successors over the decades, challenged the conventional wisdom that said their children could not be educated, would not live to become adults and could not lead satisfying lives. Working together, these families created support systems—from nursery schools to employment programs—that enabled their children to attend public schools, develop friendships, live where they wanted to live, and earn a paycheck. Gradually, those support systems expanded to include a broader range of disabilities. Today, through the joint efforts of a skilled professional staff and a large volunteer corps, we positively impact the lives of more than 10,000 people with disabilties and their families in nearly 200 Massachusetts communities.
