Recent Respites

Salem Salem

In the begining of August we had a wonderful group stay overnight in the dorms at Salem State. We also enjoyed a fun cruise around Salem Harbor.

Medford

At the end of September we stayed at an Airbnb in Medford. We took the train to the Museum of Science where we enjoyed the sloth, artic, and dinosaur exhibits.

Sensory-Friendly Days at Halloween

on the Hill

Long Hill - Beverly

October 18 & 25 4pm-5pm

This offers a dedicated hour with a reduced number of guests and a quieter sensory-sensitive environment in the midst of our Halloween on the Hill event. This earlier timeframe on select dates is ideal for those who might have little ones, need to make it home early, have a family member with sensory sensitivities, or need accessibility assistance.

Yenn Purkis, Autistic and ADHD advocate, author and consultant

Yenn Purkis will talk about their experiences of employment as a multiply neurodivergent person. Yenn was employed by the Australian Public Service for 17 years and is now self-employed. Yenn will cover how employers can support and benefit from hiring neurodivergent staff and how to promote inclusion and advocacy at work.

Yenn Purkis is an autistic and ADHD advocate and author. Yenn is the author of 17 published books and has presented all over the world including for TEDx Canberra (twice - in 2013 and 2023). Yenn has received many awards over the years including the 2016 ACT Volunteer of the year award and the 2019 ACT Chief Minister’s Inclusion Award. Yenn is passionate about advocacy and loves their work. Yenn also has a Masters degree in Fine Art. Yenn lives in Canberra, Australia with their kitty, Sunflower.

A virtual event for adult siblings of those with disabilities

The Sharing Space is a monthly participant-directed event for adult siblings of people with disabilities to share resources with each other and lend support. Join them on Zoom to meet other siblings, hear about their experiences, and learn from one another. * This event is free to participate in.
