publisher’s note
The 3rd Annual
ESPE Awards ARE HERE! On November 15th from 6pm – 10pm at the Irving Convention Center, DFW Real Producers is hosting its 3rd Annual Black-Tie Awards Gala known as The ESPE Awards! With last year having 700 in attendance, we know that this year is going to be another incredibly special event. I truly feel it will be the most elite and sought-after real estate event in all of DFW. The goal of this event is to create an opportunity for the top 2,000 agents and RP Vetted Business to celebrate, not only the success that they have earned, but the success of their team/organization. Many RP Top Agents will be showing up in party buses and limos with their team, pouring love on them for all the hard work they have put in, and celebrating them for all their incredible successes throughout the year. At Real Producers, we love celebrating the journey and attributes it takes to become a high achiever. That is what the ESPE Awards, and Real Producers as a whole, is about. We will be handing out 8 ESPE Awards, which are awarded to individuals who stood out this year. At Real Producers, we meet hundreds of top agents every single year, and so many of you
realproducersmag.com
stand out to us. It really makes it a challenge when it comes to narrowing it down to the top 5 for each award. These nominees represent what it means to be a “Real Producer”, however, many of you are equally as worthy for these nominations. This year we are especially excited because for the first time, we will also be giving out the “2023 RP Top Agent Awards” at check-in, to every 2023 Top 500 Agent who registers and comes to this event. So, even if you were not nominated for an ESPE Award, you can still get your RP Top Agent Award at this event. The award turned out super cool! We only have 800 seats for this event, by the time this issue is hitting mailboxes we will likely be already sold out. So, hopefully, you got our text and email reminders about RSVP’ing for this event. I sure hope to see you on the red carpet! Cheers, JORDAN ESPESETH Founder/Co-Owner

LINK KARLEN A REALTOR® WITH AN ABUNDANCE MINDSET
Written by: Katherine H. Fondren Photos by: Katharine Gann, DayDream Photography
From the winding roads of Colorado to the expansive oilfields of North Dakota to the real estate scene in DFW, Link Karlen’s journey has been anything but ordinary. Growing up amid the majestic landscapes of Colorado, Link’s spirit of adventure led him to enlist In the Army straight out of high school. The Army taught him discipline, resilience, and the true essence of teamwork. During his service, he explored various locations, including El Paso, Atlanta and the Middle East before being beckoned by the Oil and Gas industry in Western Colorado. North Dakota eventually became his home, until destiny brought him to Ft. Worth in 2019. Though he officially dived into real estate only in 2020, Link’s unique past gave him an edge over many. From his perspective, it’s not the years in the business that count but the experience garnered from them. Reflecting on his prior career, Link candidly mentions, “The Army and the oilfield have given me a perspective and work history that’s often not found in this industry.” Today, Link’s passion lies in collaborating with other agents. He understands the immense value that comes from sharing knowledge and experiences. “More conversations lead to more success,” he advises budding Real Producers. But his journey hasn’t been without challenges. The shifting market dynamics often pose a hurdle. Yet, his abundance mindset ensures he views them not as obstacles but opportunities for growth. “All achievements are a direct result of effort. No ceilings,” he remarks about his favorite aspect of being a REALTOR®. An embodiment of his limitless approach towards both life and his profession.

ALL ACHIEVEMENTS ARE A DIRECT RESULT OF EFFORT.
Link’s definition of success is both simple and profound – “More available time to spend as I choose.” It’s not about the accolades or the commissions, but the freedom to enjoy the fruits of one’s labor and being in the best position to do so. “Real estate puts me in a place I want to be, to own and control real estate.” A testament to his hard work and dedication, Link achieved a staggering $20 million+ in career volume as a REALTOR®. Last year alone, he crossed the $10 million mark. But for him, the most rewarding facet of his business is the appreciation from families that value the service he provides. As he says, “All achievements are a direct result of effort,” emphasizing his belief in the ageold mantra of hard work. Outside the real estate realm, Link has a penchant for the fast and the furious. Cars and bikes rev up his heart, while golf and bicycles help him unwind. His varied interests reflect a life lived to the fullest, one pedal or gearshift at a time. And what does the future hold for this dynamic REALTOR®? Link is enthusiastic about the potential of DFW. “DFW will continue to grow, leading to many opportunities. The business climate here will attract even more people to this metroplex,” he predicts. As the world constantly changes, Link aims to “thrive through this shift.” His goals are simple yet profound. To contribute to success, to be remembered for making a difference, and most importantly, to constantly evolve. In a world filled with agents, Link Karlen stands out, not just for his achievements but for his approach. With an abundance mindset, he is a testament to what’s possible when one believes in the infinite potential within and around them.

DOUBLING DOWN ON SUCCESS For Danny Leverett, there’s only one speed: LIGHT. “Most people don’t grow up and say they want to be a roofer,” Leverett muses. “Doctor, lawyer, policeman, okay, but roofer? Come on!” Leverett himself never dreamt of becoming a roofer either. Yet, he’s spent a significant portion of his life in the roofing industry. At a mere 10 years old, he was hauling bundles of shingles up a ladder for his father, a roofer in Fort Worth during the 70s. “Back then, we were just wired differently. We worked hard, supported our families, and did whatever it took to make ends meet,” he recalls. Leverett admits school wasn’t his forte, but his desire for self-improvement has been a driving force throughout
his life. Those who know him recognize that his personality is single-mindedly focused on success. Ever since his childhood, Leverett knew he was wired differently. Being the middle of three boys, he was always competitive. “Hit me, I hit harder. Solve a problem, and I’ll find a quicker solution,” he says. His relentless drive wasn’t just limited to childhood games; it carried over into his ventures. Throughout his life, he dabbled in various businesses. “In my 20s, I started a telemarketing company. By my 30s, I was deeply involved in the car business and even ascended to the position of General Manager,” Leverett recounts. But true satisfaction eluded him until he returned to roofing in his 40s.

LEVERETT OF
TARRANT ROOFING

Fort Worth Real Producers • 21
“By Christmas of 2011, I stood at a crossroads: either reach my potential or face another year of unmet goals,” Leverett recalls. At 45, an epiphany struck him: the blueprint for the most successful Roofing and General Contracting Company in Texas. Leverett took a leap of faith, founding Tarrant Roofing in his garage more than a decade ago. He says with conviction, “The word ‘quit’ never resonated with me. Losing was an alien concept. For me, success was a mindset, not just an outcome.”
Looking ahead, Leverett is optimistic. “There are two types of business owners: those content with limited success and those who relentlessly push boundaries. I definitely belong to the latter,” he chuckles. He believes that complacency is the enemy of progress. After witnessing staggering growth, Leverett made a pact to always stay passionate about his work. “It’s not an obligation; it’s a privilege to come to work,” he believes. This mindset has played a pivotal role in Tarrant Roofing’s expansion.
So, why Tarrant Roofing? “Our customers are the core of our business,” he emphasizes. From the outset, the company has built strong ties with a vast network of Realtors, Home Inspectors, Insurance Agencies, and Property Management companies in Texas. But the advent of COVID threw a curveball. But after 48 hours, I realized that retreating wasn’t an option,” says Leverett. A shift in strategy was the answer. The company transitioned from being a transactional entity to aiming to be the roofer of choice in Texas. They lead with a “Quality First, Profit Second” ethos. Leverett candidly states, “Yes, even we make mistakes occasionally. But when we do, we ensure it’s rectified. If we have to redo an entire roof, we do. That’s our commitment.”
22 • November 2023
From branching out to commercial sectors, integrating a home warranty division, and even launching an in-house metal fabrication department, Leverett has continued to drive success. “And come July 2023, we’re entering the Solar business, a brand new division. By the end of 2023, Tarrant Roofing will span three states and several major markets,” Leverett shares with evident pride. As the sun shines over a myriad of roofs in Texas, those touched by Tarrant Roofing stand a little taller, protected by a legacy of dedication, excellence, and an unwavering commitment to the customer. With Danny Leverett at the helm, the sky’s the limit.

cover story
Jonathan Cook, a seasoned real estate steward, stands out in the DFW real estate industry as a beacon of servant leadership. His personal faith in Jesus Christ forms the foundation of his life, and his second priority is navigating life as a single dad to his three treasured kids. “Burleson will always be home to me,” begins Jonathan. “I was born here, and I absolutely love all of DFW. I went to Burleson ISD schools from kindergarten through high school. After graduating from Burleson HS, I attended Northwood College and received my degree from Dallas Baptist University, where I was privileged to play on the golf team.” Jonathan has a love

He spent the next nine years traveling all over the world and to all 50 states performing. This time helped him build the foundation for his next challenging chapter, real estate.
love for sales, people, and the artof-the-deal led him to real estate. He says, “Placing each customer’s needs first while pursuing the best deal for both buyer and seller is a challenge I love. The principles of fairness, ethics, marketing and leadership that are foundational traits at Keller Williams inspires our entire team. This is my arena and passion!”
In 2013, he transitioned to his new career, joining Keller Williams Arlington. This allowed Jonathan normalcy in his life while exploring his entrepreneurial interests. This was something he always enjoyed from his earliest childhood memories, selling anything he could to make money. His

for each transaction. “It is heartwarming that we have so many repeat customers,” said Cook. His interests and ambitions go far beyond real estate. His most important title is Dad. He strives every day to be a Christian example to the loves of his life, his three kids, Gates, Shepherd, and Larkin. He says, “Daddy time is the BEST time.” His church life is a non-negotiable priority to him. He still loves golf and all the DFW pro sports franchises (especially the Cowboys and Rangers). He has just earned his pilot’s license, achieving a longtime personal goal. But at the end of the day, it’s all about family. “My kids are my greatest joy!” he says proudly.
The advice he would give to an upcoming real estate producer? “The grass is not greener on the other side, it’s greenest where you water it. Nothing beats honest hard work for your customers.” What is the legacy he hopes to leave behind someday? “In all I do, I hope I can show the love of Jesus and grow God’s kingdom,” he says with conviction. In Jonathan Cook’s story, one discerns a confluence of commitment, innovation, and an indomitable spirit. His journey is a testament to the transformative power of passion when combined with purpose. Jonathan Cook and his team are not only building the real estate market, more importantly, they are striving to build and grow God’s kingdom.

RISING ABOVE:
LISA S. ELLIS T H E H E A RT B E AT O F T E XAS R E A LT Y Among the vast Texan landscape stands a powerhouse in real estate - Lisa S. Ellis. A REALTOR® with Keller Williams, Lisa’s journey through Texas’s real estate terrain is as vast and profound as the state itself. But there’s more to Lisa than just her accolades; her story is one of tenacity, love, and an innate ability to connect. Born right here in Fort Worth, Lisa’s roots run deep into the Texan soil. A proud graduate of Bryson High School in Bryson, TX (1991), her academic journey then took her from Tarleton State University in Stephenville to attaining a master’s degree from Lamar University in 2011. “I grew up in a small town. My parents worked tirelessly, always instilling in us the value of hard work,” she reminisces. “They taught me that when you give someone your word, you are making a promise that comes with commitment and integrity.” These foundations laid the groundwork for what would become a sterling career. Before entering the real estate domain in 2013, Lisa championed roles as a coach and teacher. This

foundation of guiding and mentoring seamlessly transitioned into her real estate career. “Educating my clients on the buying and selling process isn’t just a task; it’s a passion,” she quips. And while her passion lies in the intricacies of real estate transactions, Lisa’s heart truly beats for the relationships she forms. “The bonds I create, the trust I earn – that’s the true reward,” she adds, a glint of emotion in her eyes. Lisa’s accolades paint an illustrious picture: from the 2021 360 West Magazine Best Real Estate Agent & Producer to a staggering $20 million in sales in 2021 and over $18 million in 2022. But beneath these titles and figures, her journey hasn’t been without its set of challenges. Balancing the demands of a thriving career and family took its toll. “Time management between family and work was my Everest,” she shares candidly. Yet, amidst these challenges, her tenacity and commitment to her clients never wavered. “Success in real estate isn’t just about closing deals; it’s about networking, relationships, and achieving that delicate balance between work and life,” she emphasizes.

Real Estate also provides Lisa with an opportunity to provide financial stability and seek out other avenues of business. With her deep-seated connection to real estate, Lisa has channeled her expertise into her own investment company. What began as flipping their first home led to lending a helping hand to her neighbors in need in Johnson County. “Sometimes we help families who think they have no other option,” elaborates Lisa. “We help them afford the cost of moving out and moving on while offering them a fair price for their home.” Her acumen isn’t limited to residential sales; she has carved a niche in farm and ranch properties. “Many of my transactions involve land,” she says. This love for land goes back to
her childhood, growing up on acreage, showing animals, and gardening. This expansion of her business outside the traditional realm has enabled Lisa to give back to causes that are close to her heart, such as JDRF and St. Jude’s. Delving deeper, Lisa’s personal life is as vibrant as her professional trajectory. One chapter of Lisa’s life that stands out involves her husband, Kyle Ellis, a military veteran. Married for 21 years, their journey has seen its shares of storms and rainbows. “When Kyle was part of the initial invasion in Iraq, I was grappling with the news of our first pregnancy,” she recounts. Lisa spent months not hearing from Kyle or knowing whether he was alive or dead.
This personal connection makes her work with military families all the more special. Together, they’ve nurtured their family – with Abby, a marketing major at Tarleton State University, and their young sports enthusiast, Benjamin. Outside of work, Lisa enjoys traveling, reading, camping, sports, and entertaining. So, what sets Lisa apart in the bustling world of DFW real estate? “I genuinely care,” she says with conviction. From professional photos of properties to assisting in the staging process, Lisa’s meticulous approach ensures her clients always feel valued. “My absolute favorite part of this business is the relationships that I form with my clients. I love educating them on all aspects of real estate. I handle all transactions as if they were my own and no less,” Lisa continues. But above all, it’s her love for Texas and its rich history that truly stands out. “DFW will continue to grow and diversify, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this evolution,” she asserts. To upcoming real estate professionals, her advice is astute: “Build your network, stay professional, and never stop learning.” And the best counsel she’s ever received? “You need the other agents!” she laughs. A reminder that in an industry often seen as competitive, collaboration remains key. It is clear that Lisa’s legacy is multifaceted. Not just as a top-tier realtor, but as a beacon of positivity, a loving family member, and a pillar of integrity. “I want to be remembered for my character and the positive impact I have on others,” she says with a gentle smile. Stepping out into the Texan sun, one can’t help but reflect on Lisa S. Ellis’s journey – a narrative that’s intrinsically intertwined with the spirit of Texas. With her relentless energy, passion for her clients, and profound love for the real estate profession, Lisa isn’t just building and selling homes; she’s crafting legacies.

North FW and FW
MASTERCLASS Dob Hobbs On September 27th, North Fort Worth and Fort Worth Real Producers hosted a Masterclass event in the Fort Worth Stockyard at Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall. Such a great venue! Our speaker, Don Hobbs, provided some powerful information on “How to Become a Market Dominator” and absolutely blew it out of the water. Everyone loved him and his message. We also raised thousands of dollars for Love Justice International, a powerful organization that is making a huge impact in the fight against human trafficking. We are so grateful to be a part of a community that gives back in big ways. After the message, we had a beautiful time of high-level networking with some light bites and drinks. We want to give a big shout-out to everyone who came out, all our RP Vetted Businesses who are the backbone of this community, and a special thank you to our evening’s event sponsors: Black Tie Moving, Titan Lending, Tarrant Roofing, The JunkLuggers and Shaddock Homes. Thanks again, and see you all at the ESPE Awards on November 15th!

MARIA MASON the
story
In a real estate world often characterized by familiar faces, Maria Saucedo Mason stands out as a remarkable trailblazer. As the founder of Camino Real Estate and a passionate advocate for her community, her journey from humble beginnings to becoming a prominent Latina REALTOR® is both inspiring and impactful.
A JOURNEY FROM MEXICO TO THE AMERICAN DREAM
Maria’s story begins in Mexico, where she was born, but it’s her journey to the USA that encapsulates the essence of her character. “My parents brough me to the United States at a very young age,” Maria begins. “I lived in extreme poverty while helping my parents work as migrant farm workers and searching for the American Dream. I understand the value of persistence as I watched my parents work hard and eventually own businesses of their own.” This became a pivotal inspiration for her. “I utilize these experiences and challenges from my upbringing to better myself and my business,” she adds. Life took her to Fort Worth, Texas, where a school field trip to Texas Christian University (TCU) would change her life

forever. “I fell in love with the campus and knew that higher education was my ticket to achieve the American Dream, but my poverty made this dream seem unattainable.” Despite the odds stacked against her, Maria graduated from TCU in 2002, becoming the first college graduate in her family’s history. FROM EDUCATION TO REAL ESTATE ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Maria’s journey post-graduation was a testament to her determination. With over 15 years of experience in marketing, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to national non-profits, she honed her skills and knowledge. In 2017, Maria transitioned into real estate, obtaining her license and launching Camino Real Estate. Her mission was clear: to provide every person with a path to real estate ownership.
COMMUNITY ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION
What sets Maria apart is her unwavering commitment to her community. At Camino Real Estate, Maria and her husband, Sam Mason, offer free community workshops that educate the public on buying and selling homes. These workshops, co-authored by Maria, have reached thousands of participants at no cost. Partnering with organizations like the TCU Alumni Association, Hispanic Women’s Network, and LVT Rise, Maria ensures that knowledge about the home buying process is accessible to all. A PASSION FOR GENERATIONAL WEALTH
Maria’s current passion in her business revolves around helping her clients build generational wealth through real estate. “I believe every person deserves a

path to real estate ownership,” Maria says with conviction. “I am a top producing real estate agent in Dallas/Fort Worth (5th largest market in the US) and committed to providing a luxury service to all clients.” Her commitment to providing a luxury service to all clients, regardless of whether they are buying or selling a home, is unwavering. She understands that real estate plays a crucial role in creating a lasting financial legacy for families. THE REWARDS OF CHANGING LIVES
The most rewarding aspect of Maria’s business is its profound impact on her community and the real estate industry. She has helped countless clients achieve the American Dream of homeownership and has transformed the real estate experience for many. Success, according to Maria, is about finding joy in one’s activities and having a genuine passion for them. For her, success isn’t just achieving numerical goals or team objectives; it’s about deriving immense satisfaction and happiness from the journey. AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
Maria’s dedication and excellence have earned her numerous awards and recognition. She has been named the Best REALTOR® by 360 West Magazine

from 2018 to 2023 and a Top Producer by the same magazine in 2021 to 2023. Fort Worth Magazine recognized her as a Top REALTOR® and Top Producer in 2022 and 2023. The Rotary Club of Fort Worth awarded her a Minority Business Award in 2023, and she was selected for the 2023 Hispanic Business Salute Award by the Dallas Cowboys, UPS, Telemundo/NBC5.
Maria Saucedo Mason is not just a REALTOR®; she’s a history-maker. As a Latina REALTOR® who founded her own real estate company, she is breaking barriers and inspiring others to do the same. Her commitment to her community, her advocacy for education, and her passion for real estate make her a true role model. In the world of real estate, Maria Mason is a shining example of what can be achieved with determination, hard work, and a deep desire to make a difference.
FAMILY AND BEYOND
Beyond her successful career, Maria is a loving wife and mother. She’s been married for nearly a decade to her husband, Sam Mason, and together they have two red-headed boys, aged 8 and 5. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Maria’s dedication to her community is reflected in her involvement in various organizations, including her role as a TCU National Alumni Board Member and President of the TCU Hispanic
