Eve Henry realtor® on the rise

A Light for the Path Ahead Clients who are beginning their journey through the real estate process face what can be a dark and unfamiliar path.

Your steady leadership and calm demeanor make all the difference in those moments.

“Steve was in the restaurant business and was a vice president with a large national chain. As part of his work, he traveled to Dallas every week. Because of that, we really were only able to see him on the weekends,” Eve says.

That’s an area where Eve Henry excels, as well.

As a Broker Associate with Monument Realty and Designated Broker with Eve Henry Homes, Eve serves as a light for her clients on their path ahead.

“In everything I do, I hope people see my faith,” she says. “I hope my Christian faith comes through with my loyalty and sincere desire to protect them on their journey.”

Made for This

As Eve admits, real estate was a destined path.

“I was born into the business. My parents lived in Atlanta, and they are both real estate brokers. They owned a firm there for 40 years.

I grew up in the business, helping them when I was little,” Eve says.

“I remember that we had big MLS books that had to be delivered during that time. I had helped them as a teenager and then got my license.”

“So, my kids and I moved here to Dallas in 2016. He ended up leaving the restaurant business to get his real estate license to work with me.

We are a true team.”

Passion for the Profession

The passion that Eve has for her role in real estate is easy to see.

“I’m a social person, and I really enjoy helping people find their perfect home. But that’s just the start. I really enjoy the friendships that go on long afterward,” Eve points out.

“It means a lot to me that I’m able to remain good long-term friends with most of my clients.”

There have been plenty of signs of success for Eve through time.

Real Producers magazine started in Indianapolis in 2015 and is now in over 100 markets across the nation and continues to spread rapidly. Real Producers first launched in DFW in August of 2018 with North DFW Real Producers (now called “North Dallas”). In May 2019 Dallas Real Producers launched and then Tarrant Real Producers in March of 2021.

In 2022 Tarrant Real Producers split into two publications, North Fort Worth and Fort Worth Real Producers. Fort Worth Real Producers will go to print later this year.

Q: WHO RECEIVES REAL PRODUCERS MAGAZINE? A: The top 500 real estate agents in each of the four markets in DFW based on their annual residential MLS sales volume for the previous year. If a deal is not recorded in the MLS we are unable to pull that data. Most agents produce 10-30% more than what the MLS shows. Refer to the map in this publication for the exact territories. If your broker address is within that given territory and you are in the top 500, then you will receive that publication for the year. There are approximately 60,000 licensed real estate agents in DFW. The list will reset at the end of every year and will continue to update annually.

Q: WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THIS MAGAZINE? A: We believe that we are better together. When we surround ourselves with other successful, like-minded people, we grow to new heights. Real Producers is a platform the brings together the most elite individuals in DFW Real Estate.

In every market, we take the Top 500 real estate agents, and RP Vetted Businesses, and we build an exclusive community around that group. We share their stories, successes, market trends, upcoming events — really, anything that will connect, inform and inspire, we put in our monthly publication.

Q: DOES REAL PRODUCERS HAVE EVENTS? A: Yes! Each community will have two main events a year, and then we do a combined event at the end of the year, which is an awards gala called The ESPE’s. For these events, we invite the Top 500 real estate agents and our RP Vetted Businesses. Top 500 agents are allowed to invite members on their team as well. The Drive to Serve with Excellence

One of the drivers for Michael getting into the industry years ago was a direct result of his own experience in buying a house.

“Michael had a bad experience when he bought a house. He is a 100-percent disabled veteran, and the deal fell through because the mortgage company he was working with didn’t know what to do,” she explains. “He got into mortgage because he didn’t want other vets to struggle.”

“My mom passed in early December. But before that, she got to see me sober for 17 years and see the way I worked to undo all the wreckage of my past. A lot of folks don’t get that, or get to really do that, or have the opportunity. This is my way of doing what I can to help people who are in a challenging spot in their lives. We help these ladies and let them know that they aren’t alone in this. Plus, I love making the content and working with agents and brokers to develop their individual brands and helping people grow in their careers.”

Despite low interest rates and strong employment, home affordability declined in 2021, and economists see no signs of it stopping – a phenomenon that has prompted some local governments to search for innovative balanced housing solutions.

The Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M reports that while inflation was initially expected to be temporary, it is now anticipated to be more long-term and further decrease home affordability. “Inflation pushes up home prices, diminishes a household’s purchasing power, and may prompt a rate hike by the Federal Reserve Bank, resulting in marginal increases in the mortgage interest rate. All three factors reduce affordability when it comes to either purchasing a home or repaying a mortgage.”[1] Decreased affordability was felt close to home as housing affordability declined 16.2% throughout Collin County between November 2020 and November 2021. During the same time period, the region had an average Affordability Index of 97—meaning the median household income is 97% of what is 48 • March 2022

necessary to qualify for the median-priced home under prevailing interest rates.

Nationally, economists at the Texas Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M anticipate price appreciation to slow, but do not foresee current home prices to decline. However, they are quick to note that “the story may bear out differently for Texas than most other states thanks to the state’s strong population growth and increasing demand for homeownership.”[2] As one of the fastest-growing counties in Texas, Collin County is familiar with population growth, welcoming approximately 80 new residents a day.

Employment opportunity will remain a strong draw for the area, as jobs growth outpaced population growth by 26% from 2010 to 2019. In December 2019, The Texas Workforce Commission reported a 2.7% unemployment rate for Collin County, almost a full point lower than the state’s number for that time period.[4]

CCAR supports planning and zoning ordinances that encourage the private sector to offer innovative solutions and products to satisfy housing demands. While businesses are integral to a community, the market cannot flourish without a diverse and adequate housing supply.

However, many residents find it difficult to purchase a home despite impressive employment opportunities and a median income of $96,134, 28.53% more than the national average.[5] A phenomenon the McKinney Chamber of Commerce hopes to address with a recent Balanced Housing initiative.

“Balanced housing means being inclusive to everyone at all stages of life and income levels,” said 2021 CCAR President Ron Leach. “A lack of housing at various price points affects other issues, such as school funding.

A shortage of single-family homes across the city can mean declining school attendance and populations, which would result in less funding.”

The Balanced Housing initiative created by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce promotes private market solutions, encourages innovative planning and zoning, and seeks to address the housing demands and potential options offered within the city.

While the need for city standards is a necessity, the use of overburdening standards affects a city’s growth, due to increased housing costs and lack of diversified options to meet demand. Allocating land for more single-family communities,

repurposing existing buildings, prevention programs for eviction and foreclosure, and innovative zoning changes and replating are all great steps to offer diversified housing options and meet the market demand in and around Collin County.

There is no better time than the present to make the necessary changes that will positively impact the future of McKinney and the county.

CCAR believes that McKinney is setting the way for other cities to soon follow.

Hannah

Gigley INSPIRING IMPACT The most difficult starts in life don’t predict the future for an individual who is motivated to help others.

A perfect example of that is Hannah Gigley.

As an experienced real estate agent and Team Lead with The Luxe Global Group with RE/MAX Four Corners, Hannah makes an inspiring impact on those around her.

“I believe that each of us are given our story to help others who are going through a similar situation in life,” Hannah emphasizes. “My heart is there to be an inspiration for others.”

Rising Above

Hannah’s early life was turbulent. Her parents divorced when she and her brother were young. Things declined from there.

“When I was six, my abusive birth dad abducted my brother and me. As a result, we didn’t see our mom for nearly two years. He told us that she didn’t love us, didn’t want us, and wasn’t coming back. The abuse escalated, resulting in a medical emergency, putting my brother in the hospital.”

while her brother was given care and nursed back to health over time.

“Eventually, my mom received an anonymous call to let her know that I was in foster care and my brother was in the hospital,” she says.

“Months later, after getting through the legal red tape, we were reunited with my mom, though I was involved in court trials until I was a teenager.”

After years of going to court, her birth dad’s rights were taken away.

Hannah’s mom married Hannah’s stepdad, who taught them what a father was supposed to be like and finally was able to formally adopt Hannah and her brother as teenagers.

That early chapter was obviously a pivotal time in her life.

“Due to my experiences, I have a heart for foster kids, those that are abused, and for young adults who age out of the foster system, knowing what a rough system that is,” she explains.

“Your life is torn apart within a matter of minutes, with literally no control.”

Starting a New Chapter

Hannah’s birth dad was arrested, and she was taken away and began a long journey through multiple California foster homes,

At the age of 18, she met her husband, Aaron, and married at 20. She and her new family faced another trying chapter.

“I got pregnant three months after we were married, after almost dying of meningitis. My son, Aaron Jr., had a lot of medical issues and that led to debt. He was born with the bones of his feet fused together and had several surgeries to fix the issues.

At age two, he had seizures and had to learn to walk and talk again, then almost cut his left hand off (he was left-handed) at eight years old with an electric hedge trimmer. People ask why I got my real estate license, it was to pay off those debts,” she explains.

“I set out to be a stay-at-home mom to homeschool my children – not to be a career woman. I had my own decorating company from home at that time, which turned out to fit nicely with real estate. Not only were we able to pay off those debts in the first year of selling real estate, but I found out that there was more to me than being a great mom and wife – I was made for this. I was Rookie of the Year that first year and haven’t slowed down since.” Today, Aaron Jr. is a college graduate, who got his license at 18 and is one of Hannah’s buyer’s agents.

Building a Team and Success

Hannah earned her real estate license almost 17 years ago, and also started her company, Luxe Staging and Decorating, Co., that does everything from staging to full renovations, starting a very successful new chapter.

“

I have lived my life wanting my kids to see that when you go through hard things, you don’t give up … that you complete what you set out to do – you FINISH … and try to have balance and keep your joy in the middle of it all.”

Hannah’s sense of resilience is powerful.

“We were told by multiple psychologists that my brother and I would basically never amount to much and that we were broken. Even if you’re told by ‘professionals’ that you will not amount to anything because of your past, you still have the power to choose,” she says.

“Through a lot of work, the love of my adopted dad, and the prayers of my mother, we chose differently and are both very successful entrepreneurs.”

“Don’t ever let anyone put a label on you because of what you’ve gone through. It’s ultimately a choice. I was told I wouldn’t amount to anything.

But, if you tell me I can’t do something, well, I’m going to show you AND myself, that I can. Our past made my brother and I fighters, and honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing about it for that reason alone.”

Family Strength

One of the most rewarding parts of life for Hannah is her family.

She and Aaron have been married for 25 years and have four children. In addition to Aaron Jr., who is 24, they have 23-year-old Alyssa; 20-year-old Alaina, and 17-year-old Isaac.

Over the course of time, she also discovered that she has a half-brother, named Abraham, on her birth dad’s side; she met him eight years ago. “He has changed my life for the better, and I adore him. He has been through so much and has taught me even more about how powerful the human spirit is, no matter what we all go through.”

Giving back is a central part of Hannah’s life.

Volunteering with her kids is one of her greatest joys. After everything her son endured, when Aaron was 16 years old, he formed Aaron’s Race and Roll. During two years of events in McKinney, over $56,000 was raised for nonprofits in a race that was designed to give people of all abilities an event they could take part in and feel a real sense of accomplishment. More than 500 people attended and took part in both events.

Hannah loves to support organizations such as Especially Needed, an organization that supports those with special needs in a way where they are valued, respected, and included, as well as Direction 61:3, a group that provides stability, life skills, and a place to thrive for children who age out of foster care.

In her free time, Hannah reads, plays the piano, and has a passion for physical fitness, having done multiple marathons and triathlons. In 2011, she competed in Ironman Cozumel, successfully completing 140.6 miles in 13:24.53. While her triathlon days are over, she finds plenty of ways to stay active.

Leading by Example

Those who have the opportunity to know and work with Hannah see her as a powerful inspiration.

“I have a different perspective on life due to my past. It may sound crazy, but I saw my guardian angel in my closet while hiding from my birth dad at six years old, and I have never doubted God’s existence or His love for me since. He told me I would be okay … that I would see my mom soon and that I was loved – right before I was taken away. I was obsessed with angels after that.”

“That experience gave me my faith, my life was forever changed, and honestly, I believe that being told I wouldn’t amount to much gave me the tenacity to overcome and achieve. It made me a better mom for my kids,” she says. “I have lived my life wanting my kids to see that when you go through hard things, you don’t give up … that you complete what you set out to do – you FINISH … and try to have balance and keep your joy in the middle of it all.”

Laurie loves warm weather and sunshine. After college, she moved to Phoenix, where she worked several years in direct door-to-door and referral-based sales. Still finding her way, she also worked in the

December 16, 1990, was a moment in time that has remained crystal clear in Laurie’s mind. “After my mom suffered a serious accident back home in Wisconsin, I was very upset and praying for my mom’s life and recovery. A dear friend invited me to their church in Alexandria, Virginia. While attending, there was something different. I really felt God’s presence and His tugging at my aching heart. I put my faith in Jesus Christ, and on December 16, 1990, was baptized as an adult.

My life was forever changed,” she gratefully smiles.

In 1991, her prior sales manager from her direct sales role in Phoenix asked her to relocate for a new opportunity in the Dallas area, also in direct sales, selling Rainbow hydrocleaning-vacuum systems. He made an offer she could not refuse and moved to Dallas. She thrived from referral to referral, paid off all her debt, and opened up her own franchise as 28 years old.

“It was through that position and many amazing customers, who became dear friends, many in the title business, which led me into real estate. I entered real estate as a business development/sales representative for a title company, working nine years in title in the Park Cities market,” she recalls, until Haiti happened.

Ever since she moved to Dallas, Laurie attended a bible-based church, growing in her Christian faith, and felt her heart being drawn to missions, hearing amazing experiences.

She remembers sitting at fellowship of professional women luncheon. She was seated next to a businesswoman who was about to co-lead a short-term mission trip to Haiti.

Laurie’s heart pumped through her chest, and in faith, accepted the invitation to join the mission team with no idea how she could be used on this team.

“People talked about how they were called

by God. I went to Haiti in June 2000 and I stood face-to-face with a voodoo priest, outside a voodoo temple. I listened and shared.

I saw how people and children were living this very challenging, desperate existence, in such poor, unhealthy conditions. Then, I saw lives transformed, I saw this voodoo priest’s life changed before my eyes. I experienced being used by God to share His love and hope. This trip changed my life, yet left me unsettled, yearning to do more,” Laurie says.

“I remember coming back to Dallas and sitting in a meeting with high-end custom home builders and 62 • March 2022

REALTORS®, engaged in an intense conversation about high-tech kitchens and $10,000 ice-cube makers, debating over demands for big cubes, little cubes, round or square cubes.

Ugh … I had just come from a place where they didn’t even have ice cubes. I knew I needed to find my path and purpose to make a greater impact in peoples’ lives, locally and globally.”

Meeting the Need

Laurie experienced a passion for missions and used her vacation weeks at Republic Title to travel to several remote third-world villages overseas. After Haiti came Romania and then Brazil, serving the beautiful people along the river basin of the Amazon rainforest.

“I lost my heart to the Brazilian people during my first mission trip with Amazon Outreach.

I knew I would be back, God willing, many times. So, I enrolled in evening and weekend Portuguese classes, which led me to a Brazilian church here in the Dallas area. Eventually, after several more trips with Amazon Outreach, I was asked to start a mission department and serve as the Mission Leader, traveling with teams to the dry, desolate area of Sertao, Brazil, with the highest suicide rate with teenagers and youth,” she says. “Countless lives were impacted on both continents. Then, God pulled me out of title. I was using three to four weeks of time off

a year, and yet it wasn’t enough to help and serve as much as I felt led to. So, on a leap of faith, I resigned from the title job I loved. I didn’t quite understand. God prospered me, and I was able to give back financially more than I ever had in my life to communities and ministries locally and abroad. I then heard God clearly say, ‘Laurie, I don’t need your money. I need your time.’”

In 2004, Laurie got her real estate license and has been a fulltime “missionary disguised as a REALTOR®” for 17-plus years and loves it! Through time, she has recorded 19 overseas mission trips, mostly to the Amazon, along with trips to Rwanda, Romania, and Africa.

Enriching Environment

As she says, her many years with Keller Williams is a perfect fit.

“I love Keller Williams because of our core values … and the emphasis here on God, family, and work in that order. That and our incredible KW culture of giving back coincided with the core of who I was,” she says. “When I started plugging into Keller Williams’ incredible coaching, my business soared. In particular, BOLD-Business Objective, a Life by Design, focused much on mindset. In that class, the limiting beliefs I had were totally stripped away. I realized I had been to such poor countries, I didn’t believe I deserved to make a lot of money. Then, the idea of “poor people cannot help poor people” set in. Here I was, in the most blessed country, in an industry where one can really prosper, and in a company that had values that matched mine.

The more one can earn, the more one can give. By putting God first, by serving my incredible clients who I love and cherish, I believe integrity is everything. By ‘doing the right thing, without compromise,’ my business has grown in supernatural ways, above my own abilities. And I am so grateful.”

Transforming Lives

That sense of passionate purpose has worked through Laurie to transform the lives of people around her. God gets people through the most incredible challenges, and miracles happen. He just lets me help Him,” she smiles.

“As REALTORS®, we don’t know what people are really going through until we are invited into their lives and homes. Life is hard, no doubt. These past two years, brutally hard everywhere we turn. Yet, God uses us in the middle of their painful, delicate circumstances as He does in their happiest moments. When people’s lives are shattered and distraught, absolutely they need our professional skills and fiduciary role always. Yet over and above, offering encouragement and confidently shining a bright light of hope, love, and solutions into their life when they need it most, that’s something not to take lightly. God puts us in these situations,” Laurie says. “I take it to heart to be that person for others … for them to know they have someone in their corner 100 percent from beginning to end.”

Away from work, Laurie loves to travel and explore new cultures. As she says, “It’s amazing to see and learn how many similarities between people exist in on the planet between different people.”

Most of all, Laurie has a passion for horses. Some of her favorite memories are from her earlier horseback riding and competitive horse show days like barrel racings, pole bending, trail rides, and riding just for fun!

Perhaps it’s time for her heart’s desire

of building a barndominium in the country, owning horses, riding again, and meeting the “cowboy husband” of her dreams to take come true!

Giving back is part of Laurie’s DNA. She has been deeply involved with a number of organizations and nonprofits over the years, especially Right Road Kids, positive encouragement to inner-city kids, students, and teachers across the country; Victims Relief Ministries as a crisis responder, delivering relief and spiritual support

in emergency and disaster situations; Amazon Outreach, bringing muchneeded physical care – medical, dental, and vision – and spiritual care to the region.

She also attends Northplace Church, serving alongside her church family.

She is actively engaged in marketplace ministry and community outreach, and the vision and God-sized “Unfinished” projects being built to serve and impact all people in our local and far-reaching communities.

Heart of a Servant

Truly, those who know Laurie understand that she has the heart of a servant … one who is proudly working on behalf of God and out of her love for others.

“Everything I have is God’s. It doesn’t belong to me. He just tells me what to do with it. I have been abundantly blessed and love to serve. At the same time, we all know that joy is contagious. I love to bring joy, inspire hope, and make others smile, seeing opportunity to be a light in life’s moments with others,” Laurie says.

“I don’t believe in keeping my work, personal life, and faith separate. It’s all part of me and inseparable. We are given an incredible responsibility for guiding our clients, caring for their biggest investment as if it was our own, and always making their best interests our highest priority through our actions over our words.”

“I’ve always treated my business as a ministry. My job is to serve and love on people, whether I help them with their real estate needs or not,” Dan says.

“It starts off with simply serving people, without expecting anything in return. If you serve

Early Glimpses of His Future Work

Dan earned his real estate license in 1994. But even before he officially started life as a REALTOR®, he had plenty of exposure to the business growing up.

It wasn’t a foregone conclusion that Dan would follow that direction.

“Even though I grew up around the business, I always swore I wouldn’t get into it,” he remembers.

Gaining Experience

“I’m a real estate brat. When I was four years old, my mom got into the business,” Dan says. “My dad was a pilot for Braniff Airlines. When we moved back to Texas from California, my mom put our house on the market

As he came of age, Dan worked in sales for a national radio group and then a local radio station. In the process, he met and married his wife.

“I loved the freedom of being a commissioned salesperson. It gave me some freedom vs. working for a corporation,” Dan says. “I got my license so I could go and learn from my parents and brother. In the beginning, I worked leads that my mom didn’t have time for. My brother helped me get my feet on the ground.”

Fueled by Fulfilling Their Vision

Through time, Dan continued learning, growing, and building his business.

All the while, Dan’s success has been fueled by his love of serving his clients’ needs.

“You can’t be in the business without loving people and helping them with their needs. I love getting in front of people, meeting them, and figuring out what drives them … helping them get where they want to go,” Dan explains.

“Today, it’s challenging … helping a seller and looking at all the offers and working with a buyer figuring out a way to help them stand out. There’s a lot of problem-solving that goes on in this business. Rewarding Life

Away from work, Dan relishes time with his family, including his wife, Allison, and their children — their daughter, Haylee, and her husband, Will, and their son, Will, and daughter-in-law, Breana.

Dan also cherishes his ongoing bonds with his parents — Joe and Mary Harker, along with his brother, Joseph, and sister, Gwen Harker Poole … all of whom work in real estate.

In his free time, Dan and Allison are empty nesters who love travel. He also takes trips with friends to make a direct impact in the world.

“Each year, we travel to a place outside the United States. One recent trip was to Beirut to help those impacted by the big explosion that took place there, and also in India, to support the efforts of an organization to fight human trafficking,” Dan says. “We always go outside our environment to get uncomfortable and yet to help others.”

Enabling Excellence

As Dan reflects on his ongoing career, he shares ideas for others who look to take their own steps forward in the business.

“One thing my mom drilled into me is being very education-based. My goal is always to read a business book each month and every day waking up and starting off with the Lord

and the Bible,” Dan points out. “I go for a walk or I ride my bike and listen to my favorite podcasts.

I’m always trying to listen to other people to learn what we can do to help us stand out more.

I believe you need to constantly keep learning.”

Dan also points to the advantages of teamwork in growing a successful career.

“I’ve always been part of a team even when I was growing up. You need the others to be stronger than yourself,” Dan says. “We’ve all been helped along the way. We can create a much better customer experience when we have other people assisting us in the process.”

Those who have the chance to know and work with Dan appreciate the way he is always there with a strong, problem-solving spirit … helping them achieve their dreams with his selfless service.
