Shayla

Eadler BALANCING ACT WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN PHOTOS BY LORENA BURNS PHOTOGRAPHY

16 • May 2025

RISING STAR

Shayla Eadler is not just a real estate agent; she is a woman on a mission. From the moment she stepped into the world of real estate in 2020, she knew she wasn’t just building a business—she was building a legacy. Texas born and raised, Shayla grew up in Longview before making her way to North Texas in 2010. Long before she was helping families find their dream homes,

she was making people feel their best in a different way—behind the chair as a hairstylist and salon owner. For nearly a decade, she poured her creativity and passion into Hair Box Studio in Frisco. “Running my own salon taught me invaluable lessons,” she reflects. “I learned how to connect with people, how to adapt to different personalities, and most importantly, how to build relationships that last.” When she transitioned into real estate, she brought those same skills with her. And despite launching her career in one of the most unpredictable markets in history, she thrived. “I started in 2020, during the height of uncertainty. It was a roller coaster

ride, but every challenge helped shape me into the agent I am today,” she says. Now, with nearly five years under her belt and over $50 million in sales, Shayla has established herself as a trusted expert in North Dallas real estate. For Shayla, real estate is not just about transactions; it’s about people. “I absolutely love helping families find exactly what they’re looking for,” she says. Whether it’s a first-time homebuyer stepping into their dream home or a family securing a piece of land to build their future, she considers every closing a personal victory. But one group in particular holds a special place in her heart—first responder families. As a proud police wife, Shayla intimately

understands the sacrifices these families make. “I know their struggles, their schedules, and their challenges. I’m dedicated to making the home-buying and selling process as stressfree as possible for them.” Beyond her clients, Shayla’s heart lies in uplifting others, especially women in real estate. “Being a

mom and an entrepreneur is a balancing act,” she admits. “I know firsthand how hard it is to build a business while raising a family.” That’s why she’s passionate about mentoring other independent moms in the industry. She wants them to see that success doesn’t mean sacrificing family time—it means defining it on their own terms.

Her own journey has been one of grit and perseverance. “One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is learning how to ‘turn it off,’” she says. The constant hustle of real estate, coupled with being a dedicated wife and mother, often leaves little room for rest. “I had to learn to set boundaries, to be present with my family, and to truly

embrace work-life balance. It’s still a challenge, but I know it’s necessary for long-term success.” That balance is one of the reasons she considers real estate the perfect career. “It allows me to wake up every day excited about what I do while also showing my boys that their mom is strong, driven, and never gives up.” To her, success is about impact. It’s being at her sons’ school events, sitting down for family dinners, and still being a powerhouse in her field. Her passion and determination haven’t gone unnoticed. In her first year, she was awarded “Rookie of the Year” at Fathom Realty. Since then, she’s been recognized as a Local Profile Magazine Top Producer and a DFW Real Producers Top 500 agent in both 2024 and 2025. But beyond the accolades, what fuels her most is the connections she’s built along the way. “Real estate has given me the opportunity to provide for my family in ways I never thought possible, but more than that, it’s given me lifelong relationships. The trust my clients place in me is something I’ll never take for granted.” As she looks ahead, Shayla is focused on continuing to grow Ten Twenty Realty while staying true to the values that have brought her this far. She’s determined to keep helping families, supporting first responders, and empowering women in real estate. “Success isn’t a race,” she says. “It’s about staying focused on your own journey, lifting others up along the way, and building a life that you love.” And for Shayla Eadler, that’s exactly what she’s doing— one home, one family, and one dream at a time.

ANTHONY DITOMA & SUPREME LENDING THE RELENTLESS PURSUIT OF TRUST WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN PHOTOS BY VANESSA CORRAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Trust and perseverance. For Anthony DiToma, these aren’t just words— they’re the foundation of his nearly two-decade career in mortgage lending. As a senior loan officer at Supreme Lending, Anthony has built a reputation for being two steps ahead, delivering on his promises, and ensuring that every agent and client who works with him feels confident in the process. “In this business, trust is everything,” Anthony says. “My agents and clients trust me to be there whenever they need. They trust that I’ll always be two steps ahead in the process and deliver on what I promised. And I make it my mission to find a solution to any problem.” Anthony’s journey into mortgage lending wasn’t a straight path. Originally from Tempe, Arizona, he attended Arizona State University, where, by his own admission, he did “pretty much everything but study.” But college did lead him to meet his wife, Jamie, which made the experience worthwhile. In 2005, he relocated to Texas to be closer to family, and by 2006, he found himself in the mortgage industry. Before that, he spent ten years in finance, but in a very different capacity—credit card collections, auto repossession, and mortgage foreclosure. “After a decade of taking things away from people, I decided it was much more fulfilling to hand the money out instead of taking it.” That mindset shift changed everything. Today, Anthony is known for his ability to close loans at an unmatched speed, 24 • May 2025

sometimes in as little as eight days. He’s often the last-minute rescue when a deal is about to fall apart due to another lender’s misstep. “I believe that nobody is faster than we are,” he explains. “We frequently rescue loans that are already under contract, where the buyer’s lender has botched the process. We clear

a lane in our underwriting department and get the loan approved and funded within the original contract close date.” His success isn’t just about speed—it’s about education. Anthony believes that one of the biggest gaps in the industry is how little the average

homebuyer knows about the true value of homeownership. “After 20 years in mortgages, I’m still surprised at how little people know about the impact of homeownership on their personal finances,” he says. That’s why he and his team dedicate time to educating clients, using charts and graphs to illustrate

home value trends, appreciation, tax benefits, and equity utilization. “Some clients just want to buy a house, and we can certainly help with that. But for those who want to understand when to buy, mortgage rate forecasts, or property values, we have the tools and expertise to guide them to the best decision for their needs.”

what he calls an “endless minefield of barriers and obstacles” to closing. “What would surprise so many of my past customers is how many problems we solved that they didn’t even know about,” he reveals. “It takes tremendous persistence to find solutions to those problems. Our underwriting team has a singular focus on getting to ‘yes.’”

Anthony’s approach has earned him lifelong clients. “This isn’t just a transaction,” he says. “This is a home where people will raise their families, celebrate birthdays, and create memories. It’s the single biggest investment most people make in their lives. It deserves to be handled with care.”

That persistence is especially crucial in an industry that has faced major challenges in recent years. “The last three years in mortgage lending have been tough, but 2025 is the rebound year,” Anthony says. “We’re focusing on education and market analysis. We’re onboarding new agents and referral partners who are like-minded and hungry for growth. We’re creating relationships that are mutually beneficial and genuine, rather than purely transactional.”

That care extends to the team he’s built around him. Anthony works closely with his assistant, Chad Bortnem, as well as Processor Joseph Hernandez and his assistant, Rachel Delgado. Together, they navigate

26 • May 2025

Outside of work, Anthony’s life revolves around family. He and Jamie live in

Plano with their three kids, who are active in sports, including travel ball, which is a significant time commitment for him and his family. Because of that, weekends are often spent at the ball fields, but when they’re not on the sidelines, they’re planning their next trip. “Travel has always been a passion for us,” he says. “We want our kids to experience different parts of the world and create lasting memories. We prefer any activity that is outdoors. Hiking, paddleboarding, and golf are some of the go-to ways for us to unplug and recharge.” Another passion? Food and live music. “I’m a huge foodie,” Anthony admits. “Jamie and I love trying out new restaurants with a cool vibe and really good food. I was also a drummer in my previous life, playing in a couple of bands, so we love getting out to concerts whenever our favorite bands come through town.” Balancing work and life is no easy feat, but Anthony has managed to carve out autonomy that allows him to be present for both. “I get into the office every day, but I also have the freedom to be at every sports and school activity for my kids. None of that would be possible without my amazing team of ninjas.” Looking ahead, Anthony is laserfocused on growth. “My volume closed so far already exceeds my entire production in 2024,” he says. “That’s all due to our emphasis on education and market analysis. We’re working with agents who want to grow, not just maintain the status quo.” One of the ways he supports real estate agents is through market updates. “I present to real estate offices and brokerages regularly, sharing data on inventory, home prices, inflation, mortgage rates, and economic trends,” he says. “This helps agents stay up to date and gives them a higher perspective on where the market has been and where it’s going.” For Anthony, the industry is more than just business—it’s about the people. “I’ve built my career by building trust,” he says. “And trust, once earned, is irreplaceable.”

CCAR: IN THE KNOW

An HGTV Adventure: From North Texas to National TV SUBMITTED BY BRI WESTBURY, COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR, CCAR

When real estate meets reality television, the results can be nothing short of inspiring. North Texas-based real estate professional and home renovator Kristin Smith recently brought her talent to the national stage as a contestant on Season 4 of HGTV’s Battle on the Beach. Competing alongside her wife, Cheyenne, and mentored by none other than Ty Pennington, Smith took on the challenge of high-stakes home renovation under intense time constraints—and loved every moment of it.

The Unexpected Opportunity Smith’s journey to Battle on the Beach started with a surprising invitation. “We had someone reach out and ask if we wanted to apply,” she recalled. While she initially saw it

30 • May 2025

as a long shot, a series of interviews quickly turned into contract signings, signaling that her dream was about to become reality. Once officially cast, she and Cheyenne had to make significant preparations for an extended time away from home, leaving behind their beloved dogs and everyday life to take on this incredible challenge.

Behind the Scenes of HGTV Renovation The experience of filming a television show was a stark contrast to her typical home-flipping process. “It felt like we were under a microscope for 12 hours a day,” Smith explained. Unlike traditional home renovations, where she could take her time and refine each detail, this project had to be completed in just

over five weeks—an intense timeline for a complete home transformation. Despite the challenges, she embraced the process and even discovered some gamechanging strategies. One unexpected efficiency hack involved ordering materials entirely online through a Google form. “At first, I didn’t like it, but I grew to love it,” she said. The digital tracking system streamlined the ordering process, eliminated time-consuming store visits, and ensured materials arrived when needed.

Working with a Renovation Icon One of the highlights of the competition was being mentored by Ty Pennington, a household name in home renovation thanks to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. “We

felt like we hit the jackpot,” Smith said of being paired with Pennington. True to his on-screen persona, he brought both expertise and a fun, unpredictable energy to the experience.

of the competition, they became close after the show. “We’re friends with all of them still,” she said. In fact, competitors Sam and Sean even visited and stayed with Smith and Cheyenne after the show wrapped.

Competition and Camaraderie

The Impact on Her Career

While Battle on the Beach is a competition, Smith emphasized the strong bonds formed with fellow contestants. While they were not allowed to socialize during filming to maintain the integrity

Smith’s appearance on Battle on the Beach has had a positive impact on her brand as a real estate professional and renovator. “It reinforced what I do,” she said. As someone passionate about both selling and

transforming homes, the national exposure helped showcase her expertise to a broader audience. Would she do it again? Absolutely. “It was a lot, but we learned to merge the two—filming and renovating—and make it work,” she said. Smith’s experience serves as an inspiration for real estate professionals looking to blend their industry expertise with media exposure. Her advice?

“If you ever dreamed of doing something like this, go for it. You never know what could happen—you might end up on HGTV!” From local real estate to national television, Smith’s journey is a testament to seizing opportunities, embracing challenges, and making a lasting impact in both the industry and the homes she renovates. PERRY HOMES BUILDING A TRADITION OF

E XC E L L E N C E

WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN PHOTOS BY SCOTT PEEK PHOTOGRAPHY, LLC ADDITIONAL PHOTOS PROVIDED BY PERRY HOMES

Texas is a land built by pioneers and known for bold beginnings, and Perry Homes has carved out its own legacy as a trailblazer in the homebuilding industry. Since 1967, Perry Homes has delivered over 65,000 residences across more than 90 communities with quality at its core and innovation at every turn. Their team continues to lead the way—and people like Kim Swanner are making sure that legacy only grows stronger.

Serving as Vice President of Operational Marketing & Creative at Perry Homes, Kim carries more than a job title— she carries a story. “There’s a certain magic to homes, don’t you think?” she says with a smile. “A home is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a place where dreams come to life. And at Perry Homes, that’s precisely what we do. We build dreams.” With over two decades in the homebuilding industry, Kim has witnessed first-hand the evolution of design, innovation, and buyer expectations. Yet through all the change, one thing has remained constant: Perry Homes’ commitment to its core values— Design, Quality, Innovation, Customer Service, Warranty, and Giving Back. “Each of these pillars defines who we are and what we offer to our customers,” Kim explains. “But above all, it’s our commitment to helping people find their dream homes that truly sets us apart.” Founded by Bob J. Perry, a former teacher turned visionary builder, Perry Homes began with a simple yet powerful mission: to provide highquality homes for Texas families. That mission has only grown stronger under the leadership of his daughter, CEO Kathy Britton, who established the Perry Homes Foundation in 2017 to honor her father’s legacy. The foundation has since donated nearly $4 million to charitable causes throughout Texas, further embedding community impact into the company’s DNA. For Kim, this culture of giving back is just as important as the homes they build. “Community welfare isn’t an afterthought—it’s part of our identity,” she shares. “It’s amazing to work for a company where purpose goes beyond the product.” So, what exactly makes Perry Homes such a valuable partner for real estate agents? Kim is quick to answer: “We offer a seamless and elevated homebuying experience that agents can feel confident recommending to their clients. Our homes are located in some of the most desirable communities

34 • May 2025

in Texas, and they’re designed to suit a wide range of lifestyles.” From the signature wall of windows that flood rooms with natural light, to open-concept layouts and over 350 customizable floor plans, Perry Homes delivers thoughtful design at every price point. And thanks to partnerships with leading smart home technology brands, every home comes equipped with modern conveniences at no extra cost—thermostats, lighting, and security systems all accessible from your smartphone. “We also take pride in our warranty— it’s one of the best in the business,” Kim says. “When agents refer their clients to us, they know they’re getting not just a house, but peace of mind and long-term value.” Customer satisfaction is no accident at Perry Homes—it’s a deliberate result of their process, which includes rigorous quality assurance, third-party inspections, and an empathetic sales and service team that walks buyers through every step. That attention to detail has earned them a remarkable 95% customer satisfaction rating. MOHAMMED CLOSING DEALS IN HEELS!

WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN PHOTOS BY SCOTT PEEK PHOTOGRAPHY, LLC

Saima Mohammed never imagined that a life-altering accident would set her on a path to success in real estate. Yet, in the midst of one of her most challenging moments, she found an opportunity that changed everything. “When one door closed, another opened,” she reflects. “Real estate turned out to be a fun and adventurous new path—one that suited me perfectly.”

Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Saima’s journey to the United States began when she was just ten years old. Her parents won the green card lottery, offering them the chance to build a new life in Houston, Texas. Soon after, they relocated to San Antonio, where her parents pursued their entrepreneurial dreams. Growing up, Saima and her siblings worked in the family-owned Dollar stores, learning the value of hard work, customer service, and business acumen. “My parents were my role models, they taught us the true value of hard work and the importance of always acting with integrity”, she says.

“Saima was recognized as Fathom Realty’s Top Producing Agent for the entire DFW area in 2023! Her professionalism and determination empower her to advocate effectively for her clients, guaranteeing them an exceptional experience in their real estate journeys. With her heartfelt approach and strong character, she truly stands out among agents at Fathom and is committed to doing everything possible to support her clients.” —Rachel Mann, Broker Associate & District Director, Fathom Realty

Her early exposure to business laid the foundation for a strong work ethic. She went on to earn a degree in business administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio, focusing on information systems. But life had its own plans. After marrying her first love and moving to Chicago, she found herself navigating a career shift during the post-9/11 job market. She landed a role in accounting at GE Supply but always harbored an entrepreneurial spirit.

It wasn’t until she bought and sold her first home in Chicago that a new passion ignited. “I handled the real estate transaction on my own, and I loved every part of it,” she recalls. However, it wasn’t until years later, after moving back to San Antonio and managing a retail business, that she took her first official step into real estate. A downturn in retail led her to a role at a commercial real estate firm, where she gained invaluable experience in brokerage and development. By 2013, she made the leap to become a licensed real estate agent, a decision that would define her career. Twelve years later, Saima has built a thriving real estate business in North Dallas under Fathom Realty. But her journey has not been without challenges. The transition from San Antonio to Dallas in 2016 was particularly demanding. With two young children and a mother-in-law battling Parkinson’s, Saima juggled managing a business, selling a home, and starting from scratch in a new city—all while her husband commuted between the two cities weekly. “It was one of the toughest times in my life, but I knew I had to keep pushing forward.” That perseverance has paid off. Today, Saima is known for her exceptional ability to connect with clients, guiding them through one of the most significant financial decisions of their lives. “I thrive on helping families find their dream homes,” she says. “Seeing their smiles at the closing table is the most rewarding part of what I do.” Her success hasn’t gone unnoticed. She has consistently ranked among the Real Producers Top 500 for the past three years and has earned multiple North Dallas Real Producers • 43

top transaction and volume awards at Fathom Realty. Yet, her proudest achievements are not the accolades but the relationships she has built. “I want my clients to know they can trust me, that I will fight for them and their best interests.” A dear friend and client once summed up Saima’s approach in a phrase that has since become her personal slogan: “I close deals in my heels!” It’s a testament to her confidence, elegance, and ability to get things done. “She told me, ‘You walked me through my first home purchase in Texas with so much grace and poise. You make it look effortless—even in heels!’ And it just stuck.” Beyond the closing table, Saima is passionate about growth—not just for herself, but for those around her. She encourages new agents to stay patient, confident, and persistent. “Be polite and patient. Treat everyone with respect. Be determined. Work hard and stay focused. Be confident but not egoistic. Believe in yourself while staying humble. And most importantly, lead by example.” Her own aspirations continue to evolve. Having already built an impressive career, she now looks to the future with a focus on real estate investments and technological advancements. “AI and tech are shaping the industry in new ways, and I want to stay ahead of the curve,” she explains. “I also want to help more families invest in real estate, building tangible assets that create lasting financial security.” But success, for Saima, is more than just professional accomplishments. “It’s about coming home to a place of

44 • May 2025

comfort and love, seeing my family healthy and happy, and knowing that my hard work has created a better life for us all.” With her husband Noorali as her greatest supporter and mentor, and their two sons, Noah (16) and Eesa (9), as her biggest inspirations, Saima continues to pursue her dreams with unwavering dedication. “My family will always be my number

one- my biggest advocates, my strongest supporters, and the greatest blessings in my life”, Saima says. Whether she’s negotiating a deal, hiking in nature, or hosting social events with friends, she brings the same energy and passion to everything she does. From overcoming adversity to forging a path of success, Saima Mohammed’s story is one of determination, ambition, and a relentless drive to make a difference. And through it all, she does it with grace, grit, and of course, in her HEELS.

I thrive on helping families find their dream homes. Seeing their smiles at the closing table is the most rewarding part of what I do.”

Real Producers

FAQ

Real Producers Magazine is a national franchise that started in Indianapolis in 2015 and is now in over 130 markets across the nation and continues to spread rapidly. DFW has four Real Producers Communities: North Dallas, Dallas, North Fort Worth, and Fort Worth Real Producers. Q: What is the goal of Real Producers? A: We believe that we are better together. When we surround ourselves with other successful, likeminded people, we grow to new heights. Real Producers is a platform that brings together the most elite individuals in DFW real estate. We take the highestproducing real estate agents and RP-vetted businesses in every market and build an exclusive community around that group. We share their stories, successes, and upcoming events, and we educate – really anything that will connect, inform, and inspire, we put in our monthly publication.

~15,000 agents in each of our four communities. We rank all those agents based on their yearly MLS sales volume. In years past, we congratulated the Top 500 Agents, and we still are, but in 2025, we are adding a second group to the community… the RP Top 1000! These agents are in the top 6%.

Q: Who receives Real Producers magazine? A: The Top 1000 agents in each community will receive the digital magazine for the year. The Top 500 agents will also receive the magazine physically in their mailbox. Our RP Vetted Businesses also receive the magazine physically and digitally.

Q: Can I be featured? At Real Producers, we believe we are one person, one conversation, or one idea away from everything in our business and life-changing. With this powerhouse community, it happens all the time.

Q: How do you become a Real Producers Top Agent? A: In all of DFW, there are roughly 60,000 licensed agents, meaning there are

48 • May 2025

A: If you are in the Top 1000, you have the opportunity to be featured! We love nominations and take them seriously. If you’d like to be considered for a feature, or if you would like to nominate someone, you can email team@dfwrealproducers.com.

Q: What does it cost to be featured as an RP Top Agent? A: Zero, zilch, zippo, nada, nil. How, you ask? Because

of the businesses that your peers have recommended, who partner with Real Producers and invest in this community to support you. These companies have all been recommended by top agents and have been vetted by us to ensure they are of the highest quality. So instead of you paying $5k - $10k for this feature… they cover all those costs for you! Pretty incredible, right?

Q: Does Real Producers host events? A: Yes, we host many different events throughout the year! Some large 400-800 people and some 75-250 people. We do Social Events, an Awards Gala, and Masterclass Events. You can see quick recaps of some of our events under the “Events” tab on our website. For our events, we invite the top 1000 real estate agents and our RP-vetted businesses. The Top 1000 agents are allowed to invite agents on their team, as well. These events are an incredible opportunity to connect with the best in DFW real estate. It is amazing

to see the power in the connection made at these events. Be on the lookout for your exclusive invites!

Q: Who are the RP Vetted Businesses? A: They are some of the best businesses in DFW in their category! You can find them listed in our index and their ad in the magazine. We don’t just find these businesses off the street, nor do we work with all businesses that approach us. Each business has been recommended by your peers, the top-producing real estate agents in the market. Our team will further vet every business to make sure they are a good fit and bring value to our community. Our goal is to create a powerhouse network, not only for the best real estate agents in the area but for the best businesses, as well, so we can grow stronger together.

Q: Can I nominate an agent or recommend a business? A: Absolutely! Email your nominations and recommendations to team@ dfwrealproducers.com.

MATTHEW

HUDSON THE MEANING OF HOME WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN PHOTOS BY VANESSA CORRAL PHOTOGRAPHY

52 • May 2025

AGENT SPOTLIGHT

North Dallas Real Producers • 53

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. – Psalm 127:1 For Matthew Hudson, the meaning of “home” goes far beyond four walls and a roof. It is the thread that weaves together generations, memories, and faith. It’s the feeling of security that comes from a place built with love—a place where family gathers, where milestones are celebrated, and where the foundation is strong enough to weather any storm. “I was fortunate enough to live in the same home in Highland Village my entire childhood,” Matthew shares. “I was then able to watch my oldest son play football on the same field and graduate from the same school I did.” That continuity, that sense of belonging, is what Matthew hopes to bring to every client he serves. Before stepping into the world of real estate, Matthew earned a degree in education, obtaining his master’s, and spent 17 years as a teacher, coach, and mentor. He poured his heart into his players at Denton Ryan, The Colony, and Lewisville High School. He was

54 • May 2025

fortunate to be a part of five state championship games—four as a coach, one as a player. “It’s because of my football background that I have a high drive for competition, work ethic, and winning,” he explains. But the sacrifices of coaching—the long hours, weekends spent away from family—eventually led him to reevaluate his path. “When you’re a teacher, your salary is capped. No matter how many hours you put in, your paycheck doesn’t reflect that hard work,” Matthew recalls. “As a coach, you spend your life in the field house, spending time with other people’s kids while missing out on time with your own. One of the reasons I was called to coaching was to make a difference in people’s lives, as I have the deepest respect and admiration for those who taught and coached me over the years.” The decision to transition into real estate was driven by a desire for the best of both worlds—freedom to pursue his

dreams of investing in properties and building a future for his family while still making a significant impact on other people’s lives —all while being present for his wife and children. That journey was not without challenges. With no background in sales, entrepreneurship, or business ownership, the first six months were daunting. “We lived off my wife’s salary alone until my first closing. Even after that, the closings were spread thin,” he remembers. But Matthew pressed on, leaning on his faith and work ethic, the same perseverance that had carried him through years of coaching. And slowly but surely, the wins started coming. Today, as a Broker Associate with Monument Realty, Matthew has built a thriving business, recognized as a top producer and earning accolades such as the 2024 #1 Top Producing Agent at Monument’s Flower Mound office and D Magazine’s “D Best” for 2025.

Yet for Matthew, success is measured in the lives he touches. “I love building relationships, becoming friends with my clients, and watching their families grow,” he shares. “Seeing them celebrate birthdays, holidays, family gatherings in the homes they once dreamed of owning—it’s incredible.” Some of his favorite moments are when first-time homebuyers step into their new home, or when a family upgrades from their starter house to the home of their dreams.

Seeing them celebrate birthdays, holidays, family gatherings in the homes they once dreamed of owning—it’s incredible.

“Homeownership is about more than just a financial investment. It’s about building something that lasts for generations.” Matthew recalls a transaction with the sweetest elderly couple. “I tried to reduce my commission for them when they didn’t ask me to and they wouldn’t let me,” he says. “The wife said, ‘Matthew, we live by the verse, ‘For the Laborer is worthy of his hire.’ That’s something we, as agents, should remember, especially with the recent changes in commissions and how they are paid. If you go out of your way to do a phenomenal job for someone, you’re worthy of your pay.” That generational perspective is deeply personal to Matthew. His wife, Tara, grew up in the home they now live in—a home built by her parents, now filled with new memories for their children. His parents’ home in Dublin, Texas, was built by his great-grandparents in the 1930s, constructed from petrified wood and stone, standing strong as a testament to time. “That house will probably still be standing long after we are gone,” he says with a smile. It’s this sense of legacy that fuels his passion for real estate. As much as he loves his work, Matthew’s greatest joy is the time he now gets to spend with his family. With two older sons—Drake, a Division-1 football player at Houston Christian University, and Landry, a high school senior with aspirations of joining the real estate industry—Matthew understands just how quickly time flies. When his wife, Tara, suggested having another child, he hesitated. “At the time, my boys were in 7th and 8th grade. I tried convincing her that in six years we’d be empty nesters, North Dallas Real Producers • 55

free to do whatever we wanted,” he laughs. But life had other plans. Now, with five-year-old Hadley Mae and three-year-old Hayden Dale completing their family, Matthew wouldn’t have it any other way. “I get the best of both worlds—watching my older boys step into adulthood while still having little ones to cherish every moment with.” Real estate has given Matthew the ability to prioritize his family in a way coaching never could. “I take my kids to and from school every day. I schedule my work around their activities. It’s not always perfect, but it’s a balance I never had before.” Outside of work, Matthew finds peace in the outdoors— hunting, fishing, spending summers on the lake, working on DIY projects with Tara, or tending to the farm in Dublin, where “tractor therapy” is his ultimate escape. “I am a big lawn guy. I take a lot of pride in having the best lawn in the neighborhood,” he adds. Matthew also serves his neighborhood as the HOA president. Looking ahead, his goals extend beyond personal success. Reminded of the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt quote, “Real estate cannot be lost or stolen, nor can it be carried away. Purchased with common sense, paid for in full and managed with reasonable care, it is about the safest investment in the world,” Matthew dreams of flipping homes, expanding his investment portfolio, and continuing to help families build generational wealth. His faith remains at the center of it all. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing,” he reflects, quoting John 15:5. It is this foundation—faith, family, and perseverance—that has guided Matthew’s journey, and it is what he hopes to pass on to every client he serves. Because at the end of the day, a house is just a structure. But a home? A home is where life happens. And for Matthew Hudson, helping others find that place of belonging is more than his job—it’s his passion. 56 • May 2025

Travis Book

REWRITING HIS STORY WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN PHOTOS BY VANESSA CORRAL PHOTOGRAPHY

The life of a real estate agent is fast-paced, often leaving little time for self-reflection. Travis Book, owner of Elite Real Estate Group with LPT Realty, has found strength and success by embracing mindfulness and changing his internal dialogue. After 12 years in real estate, Travis has learned that the biggest challenge he faces isn’t a market downturn or a difficult negotiation—it’s his own mind. “We all have stories we tell ourselves,” Travis explains. “They might have helped us through tough times, but they were only meant to be temporary. What got you here won’t get you there.” For him, the realization came after a heartbreaking loss. In October 2022, his father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. The ensuing months were a whirlwind of hospital visits, caregiving, and eventually, grief. His father passed away just four months later, leaving Travis to navigate not only the sadness but also the deep emotional wounds from his childhood. The passing of his father broke open an “emotional dam” Travis had held since he was young. It brought to the surface trauma and insecurities he had buried under years of life’s busy noise. “I was at ground zero of a new beginning and future, and I set off

to do the work,” he says. And work he did. Travis embarked on a journey of self-discovery, focusing on daily mindfulness, professional guidance, and a disciplined approach to mental well-being. Every morning, Travis begins his day with a cold plunge, followed by meditation and reading. “Meditation was difficult at first,” he admits. “It’s still tough sometimes to quiet the mind and work on your thoughts. But it’s where you reprogram your brain to do and think the way you want it to. YOU become the voice inside your head.” For Travis, meditation isn’t just about finding calm in the chaos but about actively re-writing his inner narrative—one that empowers and uplifts rather than limits and critiques. This mental shift didn’t just transform his personal life;

it had a profound impact on his business. In 2023, despite the trials of the previous year, Travis finished just ahead, marking his best year of gross commission income (GCI). He followed it up in 2024 with a breakout year, significantly surpassing his previous achievements. “ Real estate is the foundation of everything I look to achieve in the future,” he shares. “It’s not just about building a business, but creating a sustainable foundation for future investments and wealth-building.” Beyond the numbers, Travis finds the most fulfillment in helping his clients navigate their own challenging situations. “Helping clients through obstacles and making the process as easy as possible on them— that’s the most rewarding part of my business,” he says. Whether it’s guiding

a first-time homebuyer or assisting a family in a difficult transition, his goal is always the same: to create a seamless and positive experience. For Travis, success is not just a financial milestone but achieving whatever goal you set for yourself. “In real estate, you get out what you put in,” he emphasizes. “If you want to work a little and make a little, you can do that. If you want to make a million, you can do that, too—you just have to put the work in.” This pragmatic yet motivational mindset is something he shares freely, particularly with new agents stepping into the field. His advice is straightforward: “Do the

work, focus on the basics, and treat this business like a career, not a hobby.” Travis has taken his own advice and his dedication and results have not gone unnoticed. He has been recognized as a D Magazine Top Producer from 2019 to 2024, a consistent member of Real Producers’ Top 500, and a Local Profile Top Agent. His career volume stands at an impressive $183 million, with $20 million achieved just last year. But for Travis, these accolades are not the end goal—they are merely a byproduct of his larger mission. That mission is deeply rooted in helping others change their own stories.

“I feel strongly that if I feel this way, then others do, too,” he shares. “We all have self-doubts and struggles. I want people to focus on today and the future, to break the chains of the past.” He encourages others to see challenges as experiences that happen “for you, not to you.” This subtle shift in perspective is powerful, allowing room for growth and healing. This mindset extends to his family life as well. Travis has been married to his best friend, Stefanie, for 13 years. Together, they are raising their three children—8-year-old twins, Ty and Tatum, and 6-yearold Sawyer. Family time is sacred, whether it’s taking

trips to the beach or catching a movie together. “I want to leave my family, the industry, and my circle of people better than I found them,” he says with intention. Looking ahead, Travis is focused on helping his sphere of influence with their real estate needs and sharing the success he has found at LPT Realty with other agents in the DallasFort Worth area. His passion for real estate is matched only by his passion for personal development. “Our brain’s job is to protect us and be efficient with our energy. Sometimes that doesn’t create the best game plan or dialogue with ourselves,” he explains. “But you can change that. You have to think about what you think about.” For Travis Book, every day is an opportunity to be better than the day before. His story is not just about real estate but about the power of a positive mindset and the courage to re-write the story playing in his head. He knows firsthand that while the challenges in life and business may not get easier, his mind has grown stronger—and he hopes to inspire others to do the same.
