a state or instance of serious or continued difficulty or misfortune.
publisher’s note I am not going to lie... for most of my life, I HATED this word. Just ask my dad. I grew up in Thief River Falls, MN — home of Arctic Cat. My dad was very influential in getting Arctic Cat back on its feet when they went bankrupt in 1981. Arctic Cat was an integral part of his life. In fact, my dad grew up racing snowmobiles on ice oval tracks — like Nascar for snowmobiles! He was pretty dang good, too. Naturally, my dad bred his three boys to be snowmobile racers as well. I started around age 4 and retired at age 17. I was a semi-pro on the National Snocross Circuit my last year of racing. Snocross is essentially Motocross on snowmobiles. Yes, growing up I spent most of my time jumping 450-pound snowmobiles, 20 feet high, and 100 feet in distance. Standard stuff. By the way, it should be illegal for a 120-pound, 14-year-old kid to be racing a 180-horsepower snowmobile. 8 • June 2021
My dad was my mechanic, boss, and coach. His FAVORITE thing to say to me was: “Jordy ... adversity.” After many of my races that didn’t go as planned, I would come back to our race trailer in a not-so-great mood, telling my dad a whole list of excuses as to what went wrong. “I got roosted, and I couldn’t see! My goggles were fogging up! It’s too freaking cold! Make my sled faster!” And every time my dad would sit down next to me and say, “Jordy ... adversity. Everyone is dealing with the same stuff you are. It is up to you to adapt in the face of those challenges and find a way to make it happen. If not, maybe you should get off the track.”
Yes, Dad. I am admitting that you were right! I know he has a smirk on his face as he reads this.
I always had the same response: “Whatever, Dad. You don’t even know what it was like out there.” I used to be a little sassy. But, in hindsight, he was right.

Real estate is changing rapidly. The things that worked five years ago don’t work as well now, and what we do now won’t work as well in the next few years. It is going to be challenging. It always will be. But just remember the wise words of my father: “Everyone is dealing with the same stuff you are.” So, I ask you—how well do you deal with adversity, and are you willing to adapt to the changes that are coming? I hope so. If not, maybe it’s time to get off the track. See you in the next issue, y’all!

FOREVER HOMES AND FRIENDS IN THE ONGOING JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE, FEW FEELINGS ARE AS REWARDING AS HELPING OTHERS. One who knows all about that is Marjorie Bradford.
In time, Marjorie divorced. Eventually, she remarried in 2008 to her current husband, Rick, who had three children of his own from his prior relationship.
2020, Marjorie recorded an astonishing total of 99 deals, representing $29 million in sales volume. And she achieved that volume as an individual agent.
“Rick is my absolute rock. I ran an in-home daycare for 18 years and wanted to raise all five kids with them at home. I had a very successful in-home daycare,” she says.
TEAM TRIUMPHS
TAKING ON A NEW CHALLENGE
As a REALTOR® with Regal Realtors, Marjorie makes an impact with those around her—in the process, finding forever homes and friends. “For me, it’s all about getting families into their homes and building relationships with them,” Marjorie says. “I’d say about 99 percent of clients become my lifelong friends. That’s the most fun part … building those relationships with them and having forever friendships with them.”
Marjorie remembers the time when she was ready for a new challenge. “I always said I was going to go into real estate. When my son Chase was six, I thought I should go into real estate. I had put it on the back burner to raise the kids. So when Chase graduated from high school, I got my license.” FAST START
As Marjorie came of age, she welcomed her daughter into the world when she was 19 years old.
That was about three years ago. She hit the ground running … in the process, earning Rookie of the Year honors. Through time, she has earned the prestige of being the company’s number-one agent.
“I was a single mom, got married, and then had my son,” she says.
That record of results has continued to mount through time. In fact, in
STARTING HER PATH
Marjorie is quick to shine the spotlight on the ten members of The Marjorie Bradford Group, including: Marcella Robinson Chase Bloxom Kayla Dooley Helen Fortier Emma Fortier Amanda Browning Claudia Munoz Riley Dalmas Kailen Kendzierski Naomi Misquez Jennifer McChristian
Additionally, Marjorie’s husband, Rick, is getting his real estate license, too. “We feel like a well-oiled machine on our team. We have team meetings that go on for a while because we get along so well that we lose track of time,” she smiles. “We all bring our own personalities to the table. We have a great group.”
I’D SAY ABOUT 99 PERCENT OF CLIENTS BECOME MY LIFELONG FRIENDS. THAT’S THE MOST FUN PART … BUILDING THOSE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM AND HAVING FOREVER FRIENDSHIPS WITH THEM. 16 • June 2021

FAMILY FOUNDATION
Marjorie faced a major hurdle in life in 2018. “That’s when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I’ve been battling that ever since. I had six surgeries last year and went through months of chemotherapy and had three surgeries this year,” Marjorie explains. “Today, I feel good and hope that I’m fully on the mend.” 18 • June 2021
Family is at the heart of life for Marjorie. She looks forward to time with her husband, Rick, and their five children — Courtney Bradford, Kayla Dooley, Marcella Robinson, Clayton Bradford, and Chase Bloxom. Her five grandchildren have a special place in her heart, as well, including Easton Bowen, Brent Bowen, Sadie Varnell, Cooper Lopez, and Leighton Dooley.
Marjorie’s definition of success is straightforward: “For me, it’s having a very happy, close-knit family. Money doesn’t mean success. Honors are all bonuses for me,” Marjorie says with a smile. “I have five children, and we are so close, along with my five grandkids and my husband. I have no regrets, and I’m very happy. To me that is success.” @realproducers
Marjorie and her team at Regal REALTORS®
In their free time, Marjorie and her family have a love for travel, playing sports, and spending time outdoors. Giving back to the community is central to life. With that in mind, Marjorie enjoys supporting Bikers Against Child Abuse. Those who know Marjorie depend on her caring nature, her quick wit, and her knowledgeable efforts. realproducersmag.com
“I want to be a positive influence for people each day,” she emphasizes. “When they think of me, my hope is that they smile.”
It’s clear that happens for the lady who finds forever homes … and friends.

STAGE & D ES I GN
Results on the Rise Lasting impact begins with first impressions. It’s an age-old truth that applies as much to real estate as any other facet of life.
to it. We had a very good, successful time,” George recalls. “And by the time the third house came to us from the same company, I knew I needed to explore this niche.” George began his business in staging in 2007 and has been creating results ever since. REPUTATION FOR EXCELLENCE
One of those who continues to build on a tradition of excellence is George Bass. As head of George Bass Stage & Design, George has a passion for his work — efforts that have results on the rise for people throughout the area, including residential and corporate clients. Staged properties tend to sell faster, and for a higher amount, than those that aren’t. GETTING HIS START
George was born in California and spent time in Texas and Mexico. He was educated in Switzerland before moving to Dallas 27 years ago. From 1998 to 2007, George worked as an interior designer. He gained a reputation for creativity and results. In 2007, he was approached with a new opportunity. “A friend asked if I could stage a house. I wasn’t familiar with staging, but I agreed 24 • June 2021
Through time, George Bass Stage & Design has expanded its scope and capabilities to an impressive level. In fact, today, the company has a multimillion-dollar inventory of items — housed in its 50,000-squarefoot warehouse facility with a growing number of real estate agent partners across the region. “It means so much to us knowing that agents depend on us to just kind of seed homes appropriately, as fast as possible within budget constraints,” George explains. One advantage George and his team offer is one-time charge service. “That means we charge full price upfront. And the merchandise stays beautiful inside the property until we have a solid, pending contract, and an official closing date. There are some wonderful, talented staging companies in Dallas, but nobody does the financials like we do. We’re able to support sellers with their package,” George points out. “Nobody wants a multimillion-dollar house to sit there for a year, but with us, if that does happen, the furniture and staging are there for a year, and the seller doesn’t have to worry about it not looking great after @realproducers

three months, or after six months. The furniture stays in there beautifully staged until the agent brings a contract to the table and they move forward.” One of the strong advantages of the staging that George and his team provide is value. “A lot of agents really depend on us to bring forth the glamour and the beauty of a house, but at the same time, they know we do it for a very attractive price overall,” George emphasizes. “If you do the numbers, we have a very fair pricing approach. While we’re a high-end, luxury staging company, we have very attractive means of getting that inventory into a house and doing what it needs to do for the property.” TEAM SPIRIT AT WORK
George has a personal assistant and several full-time stagers on his team. Each home is an opportunity to bring all the elements together to bring each home as close to its potential showing capacity as possible. “They set the house with a floor plan that comes from me, and then I go in afterward and make sure that we’re all on the same wavelength,” George smiles. “It’s exciting. Every house is different. We’re inspired by all the challenges, by home fashion blogs, and we’re inspired by other local, incredibly talented designers, and the latest things happening in terms of artwork, accessories, florals, and rugs.” As George says, “Staging has gone from a nice-to-have extra to a standard in the industry.” In fact, according to the Real Estate Staging Association, homes that are staged sell 73 percent faster than non-staged counterparts. “I don’t think those numbers are going to change anytime soon,” George says. “The whole world is a stage, and so you have to really showcase your home in the best light possible to get the most attention.” Trends come and go. But staying on top of them is always a plus. With his interior design sensibility, George stays on top of what’s hot. 26 • June 2021

“We’re seeing a lot of clean aesthetics, meaning the simplicity of white, the simplicity of square lines, and straight lines,” he points out. “And when it comes to architecture and furniture wise, we’re back to the neutral grace. At the same time, we’re seeing that the vibrancy of wonderful colors is back. Not through the whole room, but you’re seeing a lot of incredible colors when it comes to accessories, pillows, florals, and especially artwork.” THE ULTIMATE COMPLIMENT
One of the ultimate complements that George and his team receive is when the value of staging goes beyond its intended purpose and buyers want to also buy the staged furniture as is. “We have a lot of international buyers, and buyers from across the country, and because the houses look and feel so great as is, a lot of buyers don’t want to spend the time to hire a designer, or take time to go out in a new city and find the best shops with the best deals. So, some of them do end up buying a lot of our merchandise. And we don’t mind at all. We started selling merchandise several years ago. We take it as a compliment, and it’s a win-win situation.” While designs may change, the importance of relationships never ends. As George says, “It means a lot to us to serve our real estate partners and that they choose us to support their success.” For more information, contact George Bass Stage & Design today! SCOTT sparking the possible Negativity isn’t hard to find in the world. The key is to prove it wrong. Mallane Scott helps defy the improbable and help others realize their dreams. Years ago, she learned how to do it for herself. As a Broker Associate with RE/MAX Preferred Associates Cedar Hill, Mallane sparks the possible for those around her. “I love real estate,” she says with a warm smile. “It means so much seeing the families when they get their home and helping families who didn’t think it was possible to get a home. I always say let’s look at what we can do. At the same time, I also really enjoy helping other agents and seeing their success because I know how real estate changed my life. @realproducers
Once I got into real estate, I got into doing programs for buyers with city, state, and federal programs and was successful getting first-time homebuyers into homes. That was my focus for my first ten years in the business.
Getting Her Start
Mallane was originally born and raised in West Dallas, as the youngest of five siblings. “My mom was single, and she worked a lot. She had a very strong work ethic,” Mallane says. “In time, I became a single mom myself right out of high school and knew what needed to be done.” As Mallane welcomed her daughter, Queinnise, whom everyone calls Quincy, into the world, her college plans were put on hold instantly as she began to live for someone else. “I worked multiple jobs, then worked for Mercantile Bank, then a computer company, and then for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) for 15 years in different positions,” she says. Finding Her New Calling
While with the company, Mallane talked with people who shared their plans for saving for their children’s college funds. “So, I found something extra to do to start a college fund. One of my cousins had sold real estate, so I studied and took the exam. And, by the way, the number of times you take the test does not determine your success. It took me eight times to pass.”
“Once I got into real estate, I got into doing programs for buyers with city, state, and federal programs and was successful getting first-time homebuyers into homes,” she says. “That was my focus for my first ten years in the business.” Through time, Mallane has continued to build on her exemplary career. Along the way, she was asked to open and manage the Arlington location for Century 21. As the financial downturn gripped the nation, Mallane moved forward with a focus on foreclosures. For a time, she served as Operations Manager at VRM and trained other sales specialists in the organization. While she was there, she earned her broker’s license, and, in 2014, she moved to RE/MAX Preferred Associates. What Matters Most
Away from work, Mallane has a passion for family, including her daughter, Quincy, and her two grandchildren — 14-year-old, Langston, and 7-year-old, Nile. In her free time, Mallane’s favorite is spending time with her grandchildren. She also works with the city and county on programs that help others achieve their dreams. In addition, she’s taken on another very special pursuit.
Fast forward to today, the results of Mallane’s dedicated efforts and belief are easy to see. She was able to pay for her daughter’s college education through real estate. Today, Quincy is Dr. Quincy Miller. “She is an author. Her first book on education came out a couple months ago,” she smiles. Making a Difference
Along the way, Mallane has helped many area families achieve their own goals that they weren’t sure they could reach.

“I started the path of earning my college degree when I was 55,” she says with a smile. “And I’ve got just one year to go. Delay doesn’t mean denial!” Those who know Mallane count on her passion for her work and her knowledgeable dedicated efforts.
When you talk with Mallane Scott, you understand the reason why countless people have trusted her through time to help them make their dreams come true. The reason is simple … she sparks the possible.
Enjoying the Journey
As she considers her own growth in the business through time, she offers advice for others who are starting their own journey in the industry. “I tell agents all the time that you need to really care about your craft,” she says. “I always advise agents to really know the business. Real estate is a very good career path, but it’s not something you can just do without being fully committed. You can go pass the test, and then when you come in, you have to really give yourself to this thing and commit to doing it. It’s a great business. You pretty much have to do it constantly. If they are willing to commit, they will be successful at it.”

PROOF POSITIVE THOSE WHO ARE COMMITTED TO THEIR GOALS AND GETTING THERE BY HELPING OTHERS WILL EVENTUALLY FIND REMARKABLE RESULTS.
Brian Weast is one who personifies that fact. As a REALTOR® with Keller Williams Realty, Brian is proof positive that drive, dedication, and persistence make a real impact in the world. Brian remembers his start in the business that came in the 2000s. “I decided to get my real estate license to work part-time and make an extra $30,000 to $40,000 at the time for my two boys’ college funds,” Brian remembers. “It was 2006. As I started in the business, I found that, as long as you showed up and answered your phone, that I could be successful because people wanted service.” BUSINESS-MINDED APPROACH
Brian had always owned his own business, and he knew there were lessons that could be applied to his career in real estate.
“What I found out is if you answer your phone, you treat people right, and you’re available, the income will come to you based on how you treat people,” Brian explains. “It’s about helping people and not necessarily selling.” In time, Brian continued growing his real estate business while he continued his other business interests. “In 2007, my business partner and I had an opportunity to sell our company,” he says. “I had an opportunity to sell my current business, and I felt like I could make a career change and do real estate full-time, which I did in 2008.”

“I just really felt that if I treated people like I wanted to be treated with personal attention, that this could lead to an income,” Brian recalls. “Going into real estate, I knew I wanted to make extra money, but it wasn’t my livelihood at first.”

That approach helped Brian take a more laid-back approach.
SHIFTING GEARS. MOVING AHEAD.
ABOUT HELPING PEOPLE AND N O T N E C E S S A R I LY S E L L I N G .
“My attitude is very low pressure,” he says.
As the nation struggled with the devastation of the economic downturn, Brian forged ahead with a focus on lead generation related to REO business.
During his first year in the business, Brian found a remarkable level of success. In fact, he closed 17 deals with Ebby Halliday.
“Through the course of that time from 2008 to 2010, I ended up building relationships with three different asset managers. They fed me leads that helped me get through that time,” Brian recalls.

“In the process, that helped build my database … and by the third quarter of 2010, the retail market was coming back and I got out of the foreclosure business.” Brian made the switch to 100-percent residential real estate and joined Keller Williams in 2011, focusing on the database that he had built over the course of the prior four years. That year, he doubled his business while he continued building a team from 2011 to present, with his wife, Cyndi, who is also licensed. “Cyndi is our productivity coach for the team,” Brian says. “We really focus on supporting our team members, so they can reach their goals and become as successful as possible. Their vision is our vision.” Through time, the results continued to mount, reaching a stunning total of $45 million in sales volume, representing 250 units in 2014. FULFILLING LIFE
Away from work, Brian’s life is centered around family, including his wife, Cyndi, and their children — 23-year-old Jacob Weast, 23-year-old Ethan McCready, 21-year-old Connor Weast, 21-year-old Michaela McCready, and 15-year-old Zoe Brown. He and Cyndi also cherish time with their 4-year-old granddaughter, Dallas. In their free time, Brian and Cyndi enjoy getting away to Brian and his wife, Cyndi

their condo in New Mexico. They look forward to time on the beach and on the ski slopes. They also are big fans of cruises, normally taking one a year. Giving back is an extension of their approach to life, as well. In fact, Cyndi is involved in the Rockwall Women’s League that the couple sponsors. They also support other groups locally, including Women in Need, Rainbow Room, and other groups that help victims of child abuse. Plus, Brian feels good about supporting Keller Williams’ international charitable giving efforts. Brian also feels a deep sense of duty for the industry that he loves. “I believe that it’s really important that top agents today teach other agents about how to be good agents and salespeople … to be agents that other agents want to work with,” he says. “If you do that within your own brokerage, you’re helping to move the dial for the entire industry.” Today, Brian and his 12-member team continue to build remarkable results for those around them. REACHING THE POTENTIAL WITHIN
As he looks back, he considers the ebbs and flows of life and finances that most people experience. He also feels a deep sense of gratitude for his path in real estate … a path that has cleared the way for a tremendous quality of life and ability to help others.

IF YOU FOCUS AND DON’T LET N E G AT I V I T Y C O M E I N T O YO U R LIFE, YOU CAN MAKE AS MUCH AS YOU CHOOSE TO MAKE … AND YOU CAN HELP OTHER P E O P L E A L O N G T H E W AY.
“I believe that with real estate, if someone truly wants to have a different type of life they can achieve it,” he smiles. “If you focus and don’t let negativity come into your life, you can make as much as you choose to make … and you can help other people along the way.” Brian approaches his work with a strong sense of education and contribution. “My mom was an elementary teacher for 44 years, and there are a lot of educators in my family. I use that philosophy. I like to talk through situations and find solutions,” Brian points out. “When we meet with clients, we try to find a problem and then develop a solution for them.” Brian Weast lives that approach each day. He’s proof positive that an approach based on service creates results for everyone. 42 • June 2021
