publisher’s note If you go to my personal Facebook Page and look for a live video I posted on November 13th, two days before the ESPE Awards, I mentioned how I truly felt that God had his hand all over this year’s ESPE Awards. And, that if you were in the room, that you were going to feel his presence. I was not wrong! God showed up in a massive way! This was our 3rd time hosting this Awards Gala, and it was bigger and better! Everyone loved the newly added pyrotechnics, but the biggest difference in my opinion was the feeling of the event. It was just different. Almost every single award winner gave tremendous glory to God…it was truly spectacular to see.

It is hard to believe that 2023 is wrapped up, and we are off to 2024. Time goes faster and faster with each passing day. I want to give one last huge congratulations to each of you for making the Real Producers Top Agent list for 2023! It is truly something to be proud of. Ivana Flex is carving her path in the dynamic world of real estate as a dedicated and passionate REALTOR®. With seven years of experience under her belt, she brings a unique blend of expertise, determination, and a love for design to the Fort Worth, Texas, real estate scene.
Rooted in Family and Entrepreneurship
Ivana’s journey begins in Texas, with a childhood split between Midland and Keller. She’s the third of six siblings, and family has always been the cornerstone of her life. Her upbringing was filled with the love and support of her close-knit family, and her siblings remain her closest friends. But there’s more to Ivana’s background than just family ties. She hails from a lineage of entrepreneurs. Her paternal grandfather and father were both entrepreneurs, instilling in her a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Her mother, an immigrant from Chihuahua, Mexico, came to the United States as a young girl and, with her family, built a thriving life from humble beginnings. This fusion of backgrounds introduced Ivana to the essence of the American Dream, and she developed a deep-seated desire to forge her own path as an entrepreneur from an early age.
Ivana’s educational journey took a unique path, too. She was homeschooled from kindergarten to high school, a gift from her mother that taught her not just facts and figures, but also the art of applying oneself and the value of self-directed learning. She had big plans to move away for college, but ultimately, Fort Worth held her heart. Consequently, she enrolled at Texas Christian University (TCU), where she studied Entrepreneurial Management. These years at TCU became some of the best in her life, marked by lifelong friendships and valuable experiences. A Real Estate Entrepreneur from the Start
Ivana’s career in real estate didn’t follow a traditional path. She didn’t transition from another profession; instead, she entered the field immediately after college graduation. Before her real estate career, however, Ivana worked in the oil and gas industry in Geographic Information Systems and Information Technology. While her role was quite different from real estate, the high-pressure, problem-solving environment honed skills that would serve her well in her current profession. She learned to thrive under pressure, collaborate effectively, and find creative solutions to complex issues, skills that have proven invaluable in real estate. Passion for Design and Transformation
One of Ivana’s greatest passions in her real estate career is design. She loves helping clients see the untapped potential in a home. In an age where many houses look similar due to the trends of flipping and new construction, Ivana stands out by guiding clients on key design elements that can make their homes unique. She explains, “I am so passionate about helping clients understand key design elements that can really elevate their homes to be one of a kind.” Ivana also enjoys working with older homes, those with a history and charm that need loving restoration. She assists clients in planning remodels, envisioning layout changes, maximizing space, and selecting finishes that highlight the home while preserving its rich character. She greatly enjoys the process of helping a client take their home from cookie cutter, or heavily dated, to a bespoke and functional space that beautifully reflects the people living in the home. Doing so also allows her to collaborate on a professional level with her husband, Paul, who is her trusted general contractor who brings her design creations to life.

On the business side, we have since started our own real estate brokerage in August 2021 and have continued to grow our team and create systems to build the ultimate customer experience with unreasonable hospitality as the focus. We also started teaching two free classes a month on wealth building through real estate to our clients and people we know as a way to pass on the knowledge that we have been blessed with. It’s been a blessing to continue to see so many of our people face to face, month after month, and help them build their own wealth through real estate. However, the most exciting thing that has happened 20 • January 2024
since the original magazine feature is the Building Blocks 4 Kids building in Africa that is being built and finished as we speak. In the article and recent podcast we were on with Remington at Real Producers, we focused on Building Blocks 4 Kids, the ministry that my 13-year-old little Dennis (Dennis IV) founded when he was just 7 years old. We are currently building a building in Gulu Community Park in Uganda in partnership with World Embrace and we will host BB4K Lego events and minister to kids 7 days a week, year-round, to thousands and thousands of kids. We were introduced to the World Embrace ministry in Gulu, as a result of being on the cover of Real Producers in 2021. If it weren’t for Real Producers, this building project and partnership would never have happened. One of the team members with Real Producers at the time told us about her parents who were missionaries in Africa who were building a free community park and

sports complex for the kids in Gulu. Just two weeks after we learned about them and the magazine came out, we were in talks and finalizing a beautiful partnership to help build one of the buildings in the park, which will be Building Blocks 4 Kids Gulu. The vision of Building Blocks 4 Kids, as inspired by little Dennis, is to bless a gazillion infinity amount of children around the world with Lego sets and the love of Jesus. So, when we were presented with the idea of being a part of this community park that is focused on ministering to children it was an easy “yes,” especially since it lined up so well with our mission and vision! Construction of the building is about 80% complete already, and I plan to make a trip to Africa with my wife Brittany, our 5 kids, and some of our friends who serve with us to open up the building in 2024. We are so grateful for the community of Real Producers and we are excited to see the world impact that will come from it. @realproducers
where are they now? WHAT HAVE BEEN THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES YOU HAVE HAD TO OVERCOME?
I think the biggest challenge has been communication and delivering the right message to our clients through this market. The low interest rates and low inventory market stayed that way so long, over 2 years, that people began to think that market was normal, and it simply wasn’t. So, the challenge has been to consistently reset expectations in this market shift to our community. I started my agent career in the last recession and even with all the changes in the market we’ve experienced it is nothing compared to the challenges we had back then. I got into the market with the belief that “the land doesn’t care who the farmer is.” Meaning as long as I could follow the right pattern of success, I could produce the same results as others. I believe as long as a farmer follows the right patterns of success, the land will produce for ANYONE who is willing to work it and the markets and life are the same way. Having the experience of the last recession that started in 2007 has equipped my team and I for the market shift we are experiencing now. service systems this year and 2023 has been our best year yet. By adopting these mindsets, shifting quickly in our strategies, focusing on people, and trusting God along the way we are up in closed income, profits, and closed units year over year from 2022 (which was a record year), despite the challenges we have faced in the market and for that we are very grateful. TOP PERFORMERS ARE ALWAYS LEARNING AND GROWING. TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR GROWTH OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS?
We have really focused and have gone all in on the customer experience. We are constantly fine-tuning every step of the process for the clients to create an unforgettable experience that they will talk about positively for the rest of their lives. In the last two years, we combined strategies and mindsets from books such as The Go Giver, Ninja Selling, Unreasonable Hospitality, and The Mr. Thank You Project to create this client experience. We also shifted the majority of our marketing budget to be spent on our clients and the customer experience with the idea that we would receive more business from referrals than we would from internet leads and cold calling. While we still use internet marketing the shift for us has been to focus and invest more in the people we already know. For example, we paid for one of our agents to fly to New Jersey for the day to be present at a remote closing and surprise our clients and deliver the keys to their new home in person. This was one of the more
extreme moments we created but we are committing to the client experience based on all we’ve been learning versus just being transactional with our people and our approach to business. It is all about the people and how we treat them and make them feel during the process. LOOKING AHEAD 5 YEARS, WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF? WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT?
Continuing to grow the team and by then have another location up and running. We also plan to start visiting Africa to minister and check in on the park in person every year, starting next year. WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT HAVING YOUR STORY FEATURED IN REAL PRODUCERS?
The doors that opened which allowed us to minister and reach more kids! ANYTHING ELSE YOU FEEL IS IMPORTANT TO SHARE?
We are forever grateful to Real Producers for the opportunities and community that has been created for agents and vendor partners. As much as I had hoped for new connections to be made for Building Blocks 4 Kids when we were on the cover in 2021, I could have never imagined that we would be building a Building Blocks 4 Kids building in Africa shortly after as a result. In the setting sun of Fort Worth, there’s a rising star on the horizon: Adrienne Schatzline, a dedicated REALTOR® with a heart for service and a unique journey that’s led her to this flourishing career. F R OM MI N I ST RY TO RE A L E STAT E
Adrienne’s path to becoming a REALTOR® is a tale of faith, family, and a desire to serve her community. Originally hailing from Missouri, she moved to Texas for college, where she met her husband. Together, they embarked on a journey of ministry as youth pastors. Their path led them from South Dallas to California, but their hearts remained set on returning to Texas. In 2020, they finally fulfilled their dream and returned to the Lone Star State. This was a pivotal year, as Adrienne’s husband felt called to enter politics, prompting a career shift for both of them. Adrienne sought a profession that would offer flexibility and fulfillment while allowing her to support her husband’s political journey. She explains, “I wanted to have a career that I could enjoy, still feel like I was helping people, and have unlimited earning potential. I wanted to have a career in which I could be flexible with my time because we didn’t know what kind of schedule it would be for my husband running for office, but we knew it would be crazy. All that said, I chose real estate!”

A JOURNEY FROM SPRING, TX TO FORT WORTH
Sam hails from Spring, Texas, just outside of Houston. His journey led him to Fort Worth, where he played college baseball at Texas Christian University (TCU). After three years at TCU, Sam’s baseball prowess led him to a professional career, making it to the Major Leagues. However, as they say, all good things must come to an end, and Sam decided to hang up his baseball cap after almost a decade of professional play. Returning to his roots in real estate, which had been a part of his life since college, Sam joined forces with his wife, Jennifer. Together, they embarked on a new journey in the world of real estate, starting with rental properties and eventually representing clients. Sam’s approach to real estate is unique. He views REALTORS® as consultants rather than mere salespeople. He explains, “Always remember we are real estate consultants with the job to get the most qualified buyers through our listings and give our buyers the most up-to-date information on the properties we are showing.” BUILDING A TEAM: THE DEMEL GROUP
While initially an individual agent, Sam is now in the process of building a small team called The Demel Group. This expansion includes adding a commercial agent and a residential leasing agent to complement his work. “I truly am passionate about building a team in this industry that can truly be a one-stop spot for everything real estate,” says Sam. He’s particularly excited about the commercial aspect they’re developing, aiming to assist small business owners in finding the perfect spaces for their ventures to thrive.

For Sam, the most rewarding aspect of his real estate career is the relationships he’s built along the way. Some of his best friends started out as clients or became friends during the course of their real estate journey. It’s a testament to his dedication to creating meaningful connections. In the world of real estate, time management is a constant challenge, according to Sam. The desire to be everywhere for everyone can be overwhelming. He emphasizes the importance of prioritization and communication in overcoming this challenge. Moreover, Sam is aware of the demands of the industry and the need to carve out time for family and personal well-being. Family holds a special place in Sam’s heart. He and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for 15 years and have two wonderful children, Grayson and Berkeley. Grayson attends a boarding school outside of Boston, focusing on robotics, math, and science, while Berkeley thrives in Fort Worth, indulging in horseback riding and art. Jennifer herself is pursuing a law degree at Texas A&M while nurturing her love for horseback riding.

Born and raised in DeSoto, Texas, Mandy’s initial career spanned over 25 years in automotive aftermarket sales. A leap of faith, encouraged by her broker, Brandi Shapiro, propelled her into the real estate arena. “Best decision I ever made. I truly wish I had taken the leap many years before I did,” Mandy reflects. Mandy’s ethos as a REALTOR® goes beyond transactions; it’s about building lasting relationships. “Helping people accomplish their real estate needs to the best of my ability,” she says, “is what I am passionate about.” This focus on relationships is evident in her work approach, as she ensures that her clients are more than just satisfied; they are delighted with her service. Mandy’s commitment to her clients sets her apart. “I always have my phone with me and my computer also when on vacation. I have worked multiple deals from another country or on a golf course,” she shares, highlighting her dedication to being always available for her clients. Looking forward, Mandy envisions a continually growing DFW area, fueled by the influx of major companies. Her love for the area is deep-seated, as is her commitment to the real estate profession. “I want my clients to know I do care about them as people, not just clients,” she says, summing up her approach to real estate.
