If you go to my personal Facebook Page and look for a live video I posted on November 13th, two days before the ESPE Awards, I mentioned how I truly felt that God had his hand all over this year’s ESPE Awards. And, that if you were in the room, that you were going to feel his presence. I was not wrong! God showed up in a massive way! This was our 3rd time hosting this Awards Gala, and it was bigger and better!

Everyone loved the newly added pyrotechnics, but the biggest difference in my opinion was the feeling of the event. It was just different. Almost every single award winner gave tremendous glory to God…it was truly spectacular to see.

It is hard to believe that 2023 is wrapped up, and we are off to 2024. Time goes faster and faster with each passing day. A HEARTFELT APPROACH TO REAL ESTATE

In the ever-changing Dallas real estate market, Genna Skolnik stands out not just for her expertise, but for her genuine enthusiasm for helping others. Since obtaining her license in November 2020, Genna has been making a significant impact in peoples’ lives, proving that her profession goes beyond mere transactions – it’s about empowering and uplifting others.

Genna’s journey into real estate was born out of a desire to redefine herself post-motherhood. Formerly working in the pharmaceutical industry, Genna found herself re-evaluating her path after spending time as a stay-at-home mom to her three boys. Real estate, initially a “Mommy Summer Camp” venture with a friend, blossomed into a career that not only gave her joy but immense pride.

Urban Dweller: From Texas to New York

Linda’s roots trace back to Dallas, although her formidable years were spent in Houston.

Her upbringing held echoes of the bustling streets of New York City since her parents, both New Yorkers, bestowed upon her a unique perspective on life—one grounded in urbanity and the boundless beauty of nature.

Growing up, Linda discovered invaluable life lessons as a Girl Scout, shaping her into the woman she is today.

“My time as a Girl Scout taught me teamwork, independence, problem-solving, integrity and my love of nature. It taught me how to sell, a skill that has been the cornerstone of my entire career,” Linda reflects.

She embarked on her academic journey at Texas A&M, driven by her dream of becoming a park ranger. However, fate had different plans for her. Linda veered into the fashion industry, working with renowned designers and fashion coordinators for luxury retailers like Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. Later, she ventured into international model placement and PR, further diversifying her skill set.

“My journey to outside sales, which eventually led me to real estate, was an intervention by my father, who believed in me, and Joni, my favorite human, who encouraged me to explore outside sales for a better future,” Linda explains.

A Journey Through Sales: The School of Hard Knocks

Linda’s career in sales was an education from the School of Hard Knocks. She traversed the streets, from Auto Trader Magazine to The Dallas Morning News, adapting to the digital age as print declined. Her experiences at Zillow provided her with an insight into a pure digital platform and a new love for real estate. with the tools she needed to become a true consultant in the world of real estate.

“Sales taught me resilience and adaptability. It provided me with the foundation I needed to thrive as a REALTOR®,” Linda acknowledges.

With Joni, her partner of 33 years, Linda has built a life filled with laughter and adventures.

Their journey led them to Dallas in 2001, where they soon became part of the first 1000 permanent residents of Downtown Dallas.

Still a member of the Farmers Market District, they’ve watched the neighborhood transform.

“My friends have become my family—the family I chose. I wake up every day with gratitude for the life I’ve created,” Linda says with a smile.

A Career of Impact: Linda’s Achievements

In her real estate career, Linda has achieved a remarkable volume of $49,657,405 from 2019 to the present, with a total volume of $15,654,799 last year.

“Every day, I am driven to assist new families in finding their ideal homes or successfully selling their current home so that they move forward with their future.

My goals align with theirs, and their achievements fuel my drive,” Linda affirms.

Linda’s goals for the future are clear—she aims to be the best version of herself, to create more opportunities for laughter, to strengthen her friendships, and to continue achieving remarkable production results.

“My goal is to be the best of the best—to help families accomplish their goals, share laughter, make more friends, and be grateful for everything life has to offer,” Linda states.

In a charming twist of fate, Linda is a first-generation American on her mother’s side.

She spent her summers with her Hungarian family in New York City, absorbing their culture and traditions. She was fortunate to have her grandmother who taught her how to cook and bake up until a few years ago. She lived to 106.

“Food is my language of love, and it’s a language I speak fluently,” Linda chuckles.

Advice to Aspiring Real Producers: Learn, Adapt, and Blaze Your Trail

To the aspiring Real Producers, Linda offers sage advice: Go to work every single day, learn from the best in the field, and find your own way.

“Every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, and discover your own way in this industry,” Linda advises.

Roots in Arkansas, Wings in Dallas

Debbie’s journey in real estate began in a small town in Arkansas, where her parents were both REALTORS®.

“Growing up, I was immersed in the world of real estate, and it felt like a natural path for me,” she said. “It’s in my blood.” Just the same, she took a circuitous path to the top of the market.

After attending the University of Arkansas, where she earned a degree in elementary education, Debbie moved to Dallas in the early 1980s. One of her first jobs was as an administrative assistant at The Dallas Morning News, where she met her husband, Kevin Sherrington, now a sports columnist there. Not long after they married, Debbie made good on her degree by accepting a teaching position at Charles Rice Learning Center in South Dallas, where she taught third grade for three years. She considers it one of the most rewarding chapters in her life.

Her early career experiences in the business, journalism, and educational realms laid a foundation for her future in real estate, teaching her the importance of organization, communication, and connecting with people from various walks of life.

Debbie’s entry into the world of real estate came about not just because of the family she was born into; it was also because of the family she was creating. She made the leap while pregnant with her second child.

Debbie loves working with clients while watching their families grow and becoming an integral part of their lives. They aren’t just clients; they’re friends and extended family.

“Becoming a REALTOR® wasn’t just a career choice; it was a life choice,” she said. “It allowed me to balance my family and work.”

Passion for the Present: Getting Results

Debbie’s passion for her business rests in selling her listings and helping her buyers find the home of their dreams.

Her years of experience have honed her ability to navigate the complex Dallas real estate market with finesse.

It’s not just about transactions; it’s about creating lasting relationships.

“We have bought four houses and sold three, all with Debbie by our side,” said Kathy Koorenny of Dallas. “Her instincts are spot on, and we have loved having her with us on our North Dallas real estate journey.”

“Real estate is about more than just properties,” she said. “It’s about people and their stories. I’m grateful to be a part of those stories.”

their children attended. Debbie is also a founding member of the Hillcrest High School Community Foundation.

Sunday suppers are a cherished tradition in the Sherrington household.

“Family has always been our priority,” Debbie said. “We’ve been fortunate to have careers that, for the most part, allowed us to carve out time to put family first.”

One of their favorite traditions is an annual holiday party each December which has grown from a couple dozen attendees to more than 300. Early on, it encompassed mostly Debbie’s friends from Arkansas. Now, it hosts friends they’ve accumulated from their professional and private lives along with their children’s friends.

Overcoming Challenges: Personal & Professional

Like all of us, Debbie has faced her fair share of challenges, both personally and professionally: Her husband’s heart attack; a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes for their son, Ford; and the 2008-09 recession, which posed significant hurdles for her business. Those challenges put everything else into perspective, teaching her to “appreciate the small joys in life.” On the professional front, she built on her foundation by joining the Brian Buffini coaching program in June of 2020 and began working with a personal coach, a process she calls “a game changer.”

Defining Success: Family and Satisfied Clients

From Debbie’s perspective, life is all about balancing professional accomplishments and personal fulfillment.

“To me, success means having a happy family and clients who trust me to guide them in one of life’s most significant decisions,” Debbie said. “It also means you have to keep learning and evolving. Embracing social media is the next step in my journey. I would rather host an event for 500 people than post on Instagram.”

Awards and Recognitions: A Testament to Excellence

Debbie’s dedication has earned her numerous awards and recognitions. In 2022, she was the No. 1 company-wide top producer for Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate. RealTrends ranked her 11th among Dallas REALTORS® and 71st in Texas by volume. D Magazine named her to its inaugural Hall of Fame Class of 2023, reflecting her standing in their rankings over the last 15 years.

“Awards are a wonderful recognition of hard work and dedication,” Debbie said, “but the real reward is the trust and satisfaction of my clients.”

The price of admission to the party: an unwrapped toy, which is donated to WFAA-TV’s Santa Helpers. The station sends out a big truck every year to collect the proceeds.

“It’s fun to look around the party and see people at the party who came as children and now bring children of their own,” Debbie said.

A Legacy of Going Above and Beyond

In all things, Debbie wants to be remembered for going above and beyond. Her commitment to her clients, dedication to family, and active involvement in the community all reflect her desire to leave a mark.

Family First: The Heart of Debbie’s Life

Beyond real estate, Debbie is the heart of a loving and supportive family. She’s been married for 36 years, a union that’s produced Jake, Madeleine, Ford, and Olivia, their daughter-in-law, Emily, and a granddaughter, Harper.

Jake and Emily are expecting their second child in January.

The Sherringtons always put family first. They’re members of Highland Park United Methodist Church, where they’ve taught Sunday school and confirmation classes, and were long-time volunteers in the Dallas ISD schools

The best advice she ever received in real estate came from colleague Sandra Melmed, who told her to “under-promise and over-deliver,” a guiding motto in her career.
