Again!
As I pen this note on November 14th, the eve of our much-anticipated ESPE Awards Gala, I am enveloped in a familiar mix of excitement and reflection. By the time this reaches you, it will be mid-December, the gala a cherished memory in our collective rearview. Looking back at my note from last year, I find it fascinating how certain emotions and doubts have a way of revisiting us, albeit in different guises. Last year, I grappled with the uncertainty of following up on our inaugural event’s success. This year, the challenge is different yet eerily similar: “Can we continue to raise the bar? Can we not just meet but exceed the high standards we’ve set for ourselves?” Success, I’ve realized, is not a destination but a journey – one punctuated with milestones and moments of introspection. Each achievement, each event like the ESPE Awards, is not just 16 • December 2023
an end but a stepping stone to further excellence. The doubts and questions that hover around our endeavors aren’t signs of weakness but indicators of our commitment to continually push the boundaries of excellence.

In the past year, my faith has been a cornerstone, as unwavering as ever. hile Kirstine Openshaw, CEO REALTOR® of The Openshaw Realty Group at eXp Realty, LLC, has an adventure-filled background that spans continents; she is much more than your ordinary agent. Her story is a testament to resilience, ambition, and the indomitable spirit of the human heart—both metaphorically and literally. Born in England and spending her youth in the dunes of Egypt and the snow-capped mountains of Switzerland, Kirstine’s life has always been anything but ordinary. “I raced camels and stallions after school, sat on the pyramids of Giza evading guards’ watchful eyes, and even counted princes and princesses as my school peers,” she recalls with a hint of mischief. This global citizenry shaped Kirstine’s spirit, making her adaptable, fearless, and incredibly resourceful. These skills came in handy when she landed in Texas in 2006, seeking a fresh start. She laughs, “I met my trial husband a day after landing. We married soon after—a decision I’d soon realize was hasty.” Through heartaches, long-distance relationships, and personal trials— including the harrowing journey of IVF and bringing two miracle babies into the world, a CHD Warrior & NICU Warrior —Kirstine’s fortitude has never waned. However, it was her son’s diagnosis with a severe congenital heart defect (CHD), hypoplastic right heart syndrome (Half a Heart), that became the catalyst for her most profound passion. “My son’s story,” she shares, “is a rollercoaster. The odds were stacked against him. The oldest living person with his condition is in their 40s. There’s so much we don’t know; so much research needed.”

Kirstine’s voice is solemn as she reveals, “1 in 100 children born in the US are affected by CHD. That’s more than childhood cancers. I want to change the CHD numbers, fund research, and inspire others to do the same.” But Kirstine’s story isn’t only about fighting the odds in her personal life. She’s a force to be reckoned with in the real estate market. Having begun her career in real estate in 2016 amidst personal chaos, she soon rose to prominence, achieving Icon status with eXp and securing features in Fort Worth Magazine, among other accolades. Her career is a testament to her skill, dedication, and unique approach. “I started with no sphere,” Kirstine confesses. “I faced challenges, especially as a foreigner. But I’ve learned that being disliked isn’t always a bad thing. When you challenge the system, make waves, and cause discomfort—you’re not loved for it. And that’s perfectly fine with me.” And challenge the system she does. Kirstine emphasizes the need for educational-based marketing in real estate, noting, “It’s not about selling more houses; it’s about building a bigger audience that we can help.” Today, Kirstine’s focus is twofold. First, raising awareness for CHD, and second, empowering fellow agents. “We plan to help many other agents build a successful business,” she declares. “Everyone deserves this. A rising tide raises all boats.” As someone who once raced horses down the Nile and navigated the complex realm of immigration and healthcare in the US, Kirstine Openshaw is uniquely positioned to understand the varied challenges

In the vibrant and ever-growing DFW area that she loves, Kirstine envisions a future of immense growth and diversity. Yet, amidst this growth, she also sees an opportunity—a chance to make a difference, to leave a lasting impact. “I want to be remembered,” Kirstine muses, “for giving my kids the most incredible life, changing the narrative around CHD, and helping countless others achieve their dreams. Because, at the end of the day, success isn’t about wealth or recognition. It’s about the ability to help others when they need it and wiping away overwhelm.” In Kirstine Openshaw’s story, we find a tale of unyielding determination and a heart that refuses to be bound by challenges, be they personal or professional. Kim Bedwell has built a life deeply rooted in the heart of Texas. Her journey in real estate, though deeply intertwined with her Texan roots, is driven by a higher calling, one that places sincerity, passion, and people at its core. Born and raised in San Antonio, Kim is every bit the Texan she appears to be. Her early years saw her family move to Dallas/Ft. Worth, and eventually, she found her way to Texas Lutheran University, graduating with a degree in teaching. However, destiny had other plans. She recalls, “In May of 2010, I had a very clear dream that God was telling me to get my real estate license. Family, to Kim, is paramount. She speaks with genuine warmth about her husband, Chad, and their two children, Cole and Addison. But it’s not just her immediate family that has shaped her. The end of 2012 brought a profound challenge: the loss of her mother to cancer. “I didn’t realize how much the grief would affect me and how long it would take to go through the grieving process,” she reflects. But, as always, Kim found resilience, putting one foot in front of the other and working diligently through both personal and professional hurdles. Despite the challenges, Kim’s accolades in the real estate world are impressive. From being recognized as a D Magazine Top Producer since 2015 to speaking at global networking events, her expertise is undeniable. She takes pride in her recognitions because, as she rightly puts it, they are “earned, not paid for or voted on.” Her cherished childhood memories shine a light on another facet of her persona. “Growing up, we had a ranch outside of San Antonio for hunting,” she reminisces. Riding around in an old truck, chasing armadillos, and soaking in the country life, Kim cherishes these moments. She fondly adds, “I have so many memories of being out in the country and hope one day soon to get back out on some land.” To budding real estate professionals, Kim offers a golden piece of advice: “Consistency compounds.” And to ensure that consistency, she emphasizes mastering one thing at a time. The Legacy of Gary & Sherri Neal Beneath the sprawling skyline and intertwined highways of North Texas lies the story of Gary and Sherri Neal, a dynamic REALTOR® duo with a life story that’s as captivating as the homes they sell. When one enters the world of Gary and Sherri, two phrases immediately stand out: “People-Focused” and “Faith and Family Over Everything” (F.O.E). Their journey, rooted in their shared hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, traces back to their days at Southwest Baptist University. It was there that their paths intertwined, leading to a marriage that, 42 years later, still thrives on love, faith, and a shared passion for real estate. “Gary and I both grew up in the Kansas City, Missouri area. We met at college and were married three years later,” Sherri fondly recalls. Their early years saw them both deeply entrenched in

sports, with baseball and softball playing pivotal roles in their lives. With degrees in accounting/finance and MBAs from St. Joseph and Drake University, they were destined for a life firmly rooted in numbers and balance sheets. However, destiny had other plans. Sherri’s journey into real estate began in 1994 in Des Moines, IA. After a fulfilling tenure as a stay-at-home mom to four boys and a career with Pfizer, she found her true calling. Gary’s venture started a bit later, in 2013, marking a career transition after his corporate life working with a pharmaceutical company called Daiichi Sankyo Pharmaceuticals. He was in a top management position there. Together, they formed the OnTheMove Team under the aegis of Keller Williams. Their combined career volume north of $100M speaks volumes about their dedication. But for the Neals, it’s about much more than just numbers. “For our sellers, we focus on maximizing their equity in the sale of their home. For our buyers, we love helping them find the home of their dreams,” Sherri shares. The couple’s love for their craft resonates in Gary’s words, “Meeting new people and solving problems for people. Finding

solutions for people who initially believe there are none is extremely satisfying and rewarding.” Their collective experience, buoyed by numerous awards like “Rookie of the Year” in real estate and top spots at KW Southlake, positions them uniquely in their field. The real estate realm is filled with challenges, and the Neals have had their fair share. Navigating the volatile North Texas real estate market, dealing with inventory shortages, and managing work-life balance have all tested their mettle. Yet, amidst all this, their faith remained unwavering. As Gary mentions, “Real estate gives us opportunities to share our faith very easily. Conversations around relocating often include discussions about finding a new church home.” Their devotion isn’t just limited to their profession. Outside of business, the couple is passionate about spending time with their family, which now includes 9 grandchildren. Their love for Texas shines through, with Sherri jestingly noting their relief at “not having to shovel snow” in the Lone Star State.

Real estate also allows them to give back to their local school, Ridgeview Elementary. “We have contributed $100 for every closed contract for the past eight years to the school,” Sherri shares proudly. “For the past two years, we have also sponsored a very special program at the school called “All Pro Dads,” which encourages fathers to be an active part in their elementary children’s lives.” The Neals also were instrumental in assisting the PTA in redoing the Teachers’ Lounge last year, regularly sponsor lunches and breakfasts for the staff several times a year, and furnished school supplies and special classroom requests on many different occasions. Yet, for the Neals, it all boils down to integrity. “We want to be remembered for loving God and loving others; for our integrity in business and in life!” Sherri states emphatically. Their advice to budding real estate agents is simple yet profound: “Always act with integrity and honesty, and be proud of the way you treat people. Attitude is a choice; choose to have a good one today.” The future is bright for DFW, and the Neals are excited to be a part of it. With goals of helping 100 families find their dream homes this year and attending every sports game of their grandchildren, Gary and Sherri are truly on the move. As they continue their journey, the guiding light of their faith and the strength of their family stand as a testament to the Neals’ motto: Faith and Family Over Everything.

Coming from a lineage of entrepreneurs - a farmer grandfather, another who was both a builder and pet store owner, several uncles owning various businesses, a mom who started a small company to pay for college - it was no surprise that Jason would find his own path in the world of business. But more than anything, it was the enduring impact of his father, Alan, who started a recycling company that anchored Jason’s course. “The lessons learned from my family set the stage for me to get to where I am now,” Jason fondly recalls.

Post-graduation from Baylor University in 1996, the draw of the finance world lured him to Dallas-Fort Worth, where he started with Fidelity Investments. But even as he navigated through the stock market’s intricacies, the call of God and family remained unwavering. This became especially pronounced after adopting his first son, Hershel, and welcoming three more boys into the world. While interviewing for a high-profile financial wholesaler position, Jason realized the commitment it demanded would pull him away from his dream of being an involved father. He confides, “My wife and I started praying over the decision, and I realized that I wouldn’t be able to be the dad I wanted to be if I had to travel that much.” That powerful realization rerouted him towards real estate, ultimately joining a start-up in 2007. As a broker associate at eXp with 18 years as a REALTOR®, Jason describes himself as a “true consultant,” diligently studying both national and local markets weekly. Jason’s emphasis on being well-informed stems from sage advice he once received: “I can handle good news and bad news, but I can’t handle no news!” A principle he now shares with upcoming real estate agents, underscoring the importance of constant communication.

Real Producers magazine started in Indianapolis in 2015 and is now in over 100 markets across the nation and continues to spread rapidly. Real Producers first launched in DFW in August 2018 with North DFW Real Producers (now called “North Dallas”). In May 2019, Dallas Real Producers launched, and then Tarrant Real Producers in March 2021. In 2022, Tarrant Real Producers split into two publications, North Fort Worth and Fort Worth Real Producers. Fort Worth Real Producers launched in August 2022! Q: WHO RECEIVES REAL PRODUCERS MAGAZINES? A: The top 500 real estate agents in each of the four markets in DFW, based on their annual residential sales production for the previous year, as recorded on the MLS. Refer to the map in this publication for the exact territories. If your broker address is within that given territory, and you are in the top 500, you will receive that publication for the year. There are approximately 60,000 licensed real estate agents in DFW. The list will reset at the end of every year and continue to update annually. Q: WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THIS MAGAZINE? A: We believe that we are better together. When we surround ourselves with other successful, like-minded people, we grow to new heights. Real Producers is a platform that brings together the most elite individuals in DFW real estate. We take the top 500 real estate agents and RP Vetted Businesses in every market, and we build an exclusive community around that group. We share their stories, successes, market trends, and upcoming realproducersmag.com
events — really, anything that will connect, inform, and inspire, we put in our monthly publication. It is important to note that Real Producers is not a brag book. To be in the top 1-2% in your field takes a lot of grit, passion, hard work, trials, tribulations, and a strong “why” to keep pushing on. Real Producers is about sharing and honoring those stories and humanizing you and your peers to create a culture of honor and collaboration that propels us all to the next level.

Q: DOES REAL PRODUCERS HAVE EVENTS? A: Yes! Each year we have several events. Some are specific to each territory, and some are shared events for all four DFW Real Producers markets. We have several different types of events, such as magazine celebration events, partners-only events, social events, mastermind/educational style events, and of course, the annual black-tie awards gala called The ESPE Awards. For these events, we invite the top 500 real estate agents and our RP-vetted businesses. Top 500 agents are allowed to invite members of their team, as well. These events are an incredible opportunity to connect with the best of the best in DFW real estate. It is amazing to see the power in the connections made at these events. Be on the lookout for your exclusive invites!
Q: WHO ARE THE RP-VETTED BUSINESSES? A: They are one of the best businesses in DFW in their category, and you can find them listed in our index! We don’t just find these businesses off the street, nor do we work with all businesses that approach us. One of many of the top real estate agents has recommended every single business you see in this publication. We won’t even meet with a business that has not been vetted by one of you and “stamped for approval,” in a sense. Our team will further vet every business to make sure they are a good fit and bring value to our community. Our goal is to create a powerhouse network, not only for the best real estate agents in the area but for the best businesses, as well, so we can grow stronger together.
