PUBLISHER’S NOTE hope, will make the night feel special. And if I’m being truthful, there are moments when looking at all of those details at once can feel a little overwhelming. But I’ve learned something through building Real Producers, putting on events, and really through business in general: At some point, you have to trust the work. That doesn’t mean crossing your fingers and hoping everything works out. It means giving yourself enough time, doing the preparation, taking the next action in front of you, surrounding yourself with great people, and controlling what you can control. Then, eventually, you have to loosen your grip on the outcome. There will probably be something that doesn’t go according to plan on October 8th. There almost always is. But I’ve learned that perfection was never really the goal anyway. The goal is to prepare well enough that when the moment finally arrives, you can actually be present enough to enjoy it.
BEFORE YOU KNOW THE ENDING As I sit here writing this in the middle of September, we’re just a few weeks away from the ESPE Awards. Right now, the stage hasn’t been built. The tables aren’t set. No awards have been handed out. But by the time you’re reading this, more than 500 of us will have gathered together, the lights will have gone down, the winners will have been announced, and months of planning will have culminated in one night.
And I think there’s something in that for all of us. So much of life requires us to do the work before we know the ending. You make the call before you know if it will lead to the opportunity. You invest in the relationship before you know what it will become. You take the risk, build the business, hire the person, pursue the goal, and keep showing up without any guarantee of exactly how the story will unfold. We can’t control every outcome. But we can control how we prepare, how we show up, and whether we allow ourselves to enjoy the process along the way. As I write this, I don’t know who won. I don’t know which moments brought the room to its feet. I don’t know what went perfectly or what inevitably didn’t. You know something right now that I don’t. But I do know we gave it everything we had. So from the Jordan and Lance writing this before October 8th to all of you reading it on the other side, we hope it was one heck of a night. More importantly, we hope you walked away reminded of just how special this community really is. And whatever you’re building right now, keep doing the work. Then trust it.
So... how was it? I’m dying to know. It’s kind of funny asking that question knowing you have an answer and I don’t. Because right now, I’m still living in the details. The seating chart. Sponsors. Tickets. Lighting. Music. Vendors. Valet. Staffing. Timing. Who is standing where. Who hands the microphone to whom. There are hundreds of little decisions that most people will never notice, but collectively, I 10 • October 2026

LAUREL ANTHONY The Next Step
LAUREL ANTHONY CAN STILL REMEMBER THE DAY THE CAREER SHE HAD SPENT YEARS BUILDING SUDDENLY DISAPPEARED.
It was April 2020. COVID had hit the airline industry hard, and after nine years with a company that designed and manufactured seats for major airlines, Laurel was laid off. She had risen into program management, traveled as far as New Zealand for work, and achieved much of what her younger self once considered success.
first horse. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and moved to Oklahoma in 2006 to work in the horse industry.
Since then, Laurel has built approximately $45 million in career sales volume, including $12 million in 2025. She also achieved eXp ICON status last year,
By 2020, however, corporate life no longer felt like the future she wanted. Real estate offered something different. “One thing about the corporate world is that you are tied to the company’s bottom line,” Laurel says. “In real estate you are tied directly to a human being.”
Six years later, that unexpected ending looks much more like a beginning.
That human connection quickly became the part of the profession she valued most.
At 12, after detassling corn and babysitting to save money, Laurel purchased her
“It truly changed the trajectory of my career,” she says.
Her professional path took several turns from there. Laurel worked as a veterinary technician at an equine specialty clinic before deciding she wanted an office job. She moved into customer service for a regional airport FBO in Denison and eventually entered manufacturing, where she advanced into program management.
“I cried the day I was laid off,” she recalls. “I went home and prayed to God to guide me. The next morning I woke up so relieved and knew I was going to get my real estate license.”
Originally from Rosemount, Minnesota, a suburb of St. Paul, Laurel grew up where the edge of town met endless cornfields. Horses captured her attention early, despite being born to parents who were not “horsey” themselves. They supported the passion anyway, finding opportunities for their daughter to ride and become involved in 4-H.
That one phone call became a five-year partnership representing approximately $10 million in sales. It also opened doors Laurel never could have predicted, including her first Preston Hollow listing and opportunities to gain experience in subdivision planning and marketing.
Early in her career, one seemingly ordinary listing demonstrated just how much a single relationship could change a business. Laurel called the owner of a newer double-wide on five acres that was listed for sale by owner and ultimately earned the listing. Then came a sign inquiry from a nearby gentleman simply asking about the price. He and several friends were exploring real estate investing. Dallas Real Producers • 15
YOU’LL HEAR A LOT OF WHAT YOU ‘SHOULD’ BE DOING.
BUT IF IT DOESN’T FEEL AUTHENTIC, DON’T DO IT.”
a milestone she had been working toward since joining eXp in 2021. She has also successfully married her love of horses with her career, as Laurel sometimes handles equestrian, farm and ranch real estate transactions. Aside from her numbers, Laurel has learned to establish boundaries, become more intentional about the listings she accepts, and recognize that not every client-agent relationship is the right fit. “This business has a way of swallowing you if you’re not steadfast in maintaining your ‘why,’” she says. Her why continually returns to people. Laurel loves learning what brought someone to a particular moment. She wants to understand why they are relocating, what is behind the decision to sell, or what they hope a new property will bring into their lives. Real estate can be emotional and unpredictable, but that is also what makes the work meaningful. She has witnessed situations that initially seemed impossible turn into something better than expected. “I have seen God undoubtedly working in my clients’ lives,” she says. “An issue that seems insurmountable or a home that is lost leads to the perfect scenario. It gives me goosebumps thinking about it!”
16 • October 2026
Laurel also believes in community involvement and is passionate about giving back. She currently serves on the North Texas Medical Center Foundation Board and a fundraising committee for a new local animal shelter, Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter, in Gainesville. And despite the many chapters her career has taken, the horse-loving girl from the edge of those Minnesota cornfields never disappeared. Horses are still a huge part of her life; she owns a gelding and shows it in the AQHA all-around circuit. When she is not working or at a horse show, she enjoys Texas Red Dirt music and catching live performances whenever she can. Her advice to newer real estate professionals reflects the lessons she has learned while building a business in a way that feels distinctly her own. “KEEP GOING, but also set up your systems,” Laurel says. “Know what works for you and be true to that.” She has never purchased a lead. Instead, approximately 90 percent of her business is organic leads or referral-based. “You’ll hear a lot of what you ‘should’ be doing,” she adds, “but if it doesn’t feel authentic, don’t do it.”
Today, the independence real estate provides is another part of the career Laurel does not take for granted. After years spent working an 8-to-5 schedule in a cubicle, she appreciates being able to structure her business around the life she wants to live.
For Laurel, what began during one of the most uncertain moments of her professional life ultimately created more freedom, connection, and purpose than the career she lost. The path was not the one she originally planned, but perhaps that is precisely why she has learned to appreciate where it has taken her.
That includes making time for family. Her parents still live in Minnesota, while her brother and his family are in Georgia.
“I have so much gratitude for the people I’ve met in real estate,” Laurel says. “Whether it’s mentors, clients, peers, or partners—I love what I do!”
“Knowing I can be there at basically the drop of a hat is comforting,” she says.
Sometimes the opportunity that changes everything begins with simply trusting the next step.

WITH HOME LOANS BY SARA POWERED BY BENCHMARK MORTGAGE
Making Your Business Better
Sara Parker Jones doesn’t just help clients use real estate to build their financial futures. She has done it herself. Over the years, she has built a portfolio that includes six rental properties, secured her own home, and more recently has been exploring the purchase of commercial real estate. To Sara, a mortgage isn’t simply a means of getting someone into a house. It is a financial tool. And when structured thoughtfully, it can play an important role in a much bigger strategy. It is a perspective she has developed not only through her own experience with real estate, but over 14 years in the mortgage industry.
At 22 years old, Sara did not plan to build a career in mortgage lending. In fact, she jokes that the industry had other plans for her.
“I always joke that I’m not sure anyone actually decides to get into the mortgage industry,” Sara says. At the time, she was “voluntold” she would be good at it. “Bright-eyed and bushytailed, I said, ‘Okay, let’s give it a try!’” As Branch Manager and Senior Mortgage Advisor with Benchmark Mortgage, Sara has built her business by taking care of people, from the buyers navigating major financial decisions to the real estate professionals who trust her with their clients. For Sara, those relationships are not simply part of the business. They are the business. “The relationships,” she says when asked what she loves most about her work. “Some of my strongest relationships have been built with
REALTORS® over years of doing business together.” Growing up in Little Elm, Sara considers DFW home. She began college before discovering the mortgage industry during her junior year. Realizing she had found a career she loved, she put school on hold and devoted herself to learning the business. Still, the unfinished degree stayed with her. Eight years later, with about a year and a half remaining, Sara returned to school while continuing to build her career. In 2021, she graduated from Texas Woman’s University with her bachelor’s degree. “Finishing my degree has been one of the most satisfying accomplishments of my life,” she says. “I’m incredibly proud that I went back and finished something I had started so many years before.” That willingness to keep growing has followed Sara throughout her professional life. Today, she helps clients navigate everything from firsttime purchases and move-up homes to investments, refinances, VA financing, and more complicated financial circumstances. Her team offers Conventional, FHA, VA, Jumbo, bank-statement, and other lending solutions. But getting someone approved is only part of the job.

I don’t want to be viewed as a vendor.
I want to be viewed as part of their team.” “Getting a mortgage isn’t just about getting approved,” Sara explains. “It’s about structuring the financing in a way that helps the buyer compete, saves them money where possible, and supports their bigger financial goals.” That strategic mindset is especially important in Sara’s partnerships with agents. She does not want them to think of her as someone they call only after a buyer finds a house. Instead, she wants to be involved early enough to help create opportunities. “Top producers don’t need another lender who simply answers the phone and gets loans closed,” she says. “They need partners who make their business better.” That might mean talking through financing scenarios before a showing, helping

strengthen an offer, educating an agent about VA financing, communicating with a listing agent, or identifying a potential problem before it threatens a transaction. “Some of the best work we do happens before an offer is ever submitted,” Sara says. “Financing can be a strategy.” Behind that service is a team Sara is quick to credit. Loan Processor Becky Mihalik, Client Care Specialist Jenny Jones, and Production Partner Wendy Malcolm help provide the organization and communication necessary to keep clients and agents informed. “Great lending is never a one-person operation,” Sara says. “Having experienced people behind the scenes allows us to provide a much higher level of service.” Sara also understands that every referral carries more than a potential transaction. It carries an agent’s reputation. “When an agent sends me a client, I understand that they’re trusting me with a relationship they worked hard to build,” she says. “My job is to protect that relationship, provide an exceptional experience and help that agent get the deal done.” That responsibility is one reason she emphasizes education and proactive communication. Sara wants borrowers to understand their choices rather than feel as though decisions are being made around them. She believes lending should
feel personal, especially when the financial stakes are so significant. Her approach has resulted in a business driven largely by relationships and referrals, something Sara attributes to consistency. “I’ve always been willing to work hard, keep learning, and show up even when things are challenging,” she says. “Building strong relationships, doing what I say I’m going to do, and treating every client like they matter has helped me build a business that is largely based on relationships and referrals.” Her definition of success reflects the same priorities. “Success is having a business that grows because people trust you enough to come back and refer the people they care about,” she says. Away from work, Sara is equally intentional about making room for the people and experiences she values. She and her husband, Joe, spend as much time as possible in Colorado, skiing during the winter and hiking during warmer months. Their two Pomeranians, Perry and Rip, are their “babies,” and the couple also shares a love of Formula 1, trying to attend at least one race in person each year. “I’ve learned that success can’t just mean doing more,” Sara says. “The point of building a successful business is also to create a life you actually enjoy.” As she looks toward the future, Sara wants growth,
but not simply for the sake of increasing production. She wants to deepen the relationships that built her business and become an even stronger resource for the real estate community. Most of all, she wants agents to know exactly what they are gaining when they call her. “I want them to feel supported,” Sara says. “I don’t want to be viewed as a vendor. I want to be viewed as part of their team.” For Sara, that distinction captures 14 years of lessons in one simple idea. Mortgages may be the work she does, but trust, strategy, and relationships are the business she has built.

OPENING DOORS For some, resilience is something you are born with. For others, it can be the result of things happening in our childhood or through major life changes occurring as an adult. In all of these cases, one thing holds true: you always come out as even more resilient, stronger and wiser on the other side. For people like Jessica Cazares, the road has been long and winding, but she credits her faith in the Lord for seeing her through. With each life event, each market swing, each client, and each transaction, she has cultivated 16 years of experience in the real estate industry that has made her into the top agent she is today. Jessica operates with intention, shows up, and opens doors for everyone she meets.
Although she had experience in new construction sales, Jessica’s path to getting her real estate license came during her recovery from a major health challenge. After being diagnosed with meningioma and the brain surgery and treatments that followed, she found herself back in the hospital when her sodium levels suddenly crashed, and it hardly seemed like the setting for a real estate revelation. Then she started talking with three of her nurses. All three were looking for homes. They wanted to live within a particular school district but assumed they could not afford it. With years of new construction experience behind her, Jessica knew something they did not. “You can live here and go to school there,” she told them. They were skeptical, so Jessica showed them what was possible. She scheduled appointments with three different builders. All three nurses eventually purchased homes. Jessica had already been thinking about becoming an agent. Her husband finally told her, “Go get your license already.”
time: sometimes the greatest value an agent provides is not opening the door to a house. It is opening someone’s eyes to an opportunity they did not know existed. Growing up in El Paso, Texas, as the second of four children, Jessica remembers seeing agents pictured on billboards and bus benches, never imagining that real estate would eventually become her own career. After graduating from Texas Tech University with a degree in marketing and a minor in human sciences, Jessica considered a sales opportunity that would have taken her to Ohio. Instead, her cousin, Sarah Walker, invited her to Dallas to explore new construction sales where her real estate career began. Jessica loved it. She spent the next decade in the building industry, including eight years with David Weekley Homes and two with Darling Homes. Along the way, she met accomplished agents who gave her an early view of what excellent representation looked like from the builder’s side of a transaction.
And he was right.
The experience also gave her knowledge she continues to draw upon today.
For Jessica, now a real estate agent with eXp Luxury, that experience captured something she still loves about the profession after all this
“I love educating my clients, especially when it comes to construction,” Jessica says. She can help buyers understand what is
behind the walls, evaluate plans and finishes, identify concerns, and recognize opportunities within a property. Her love for real estate extends beyond new construction. Jessica is equally energized by a house with good bones waiting to be reinvented and by neighborhoods evolving through redevelopment. “There is always something new happening, and I love being part of that process,” she says. Yet one chapter of Jessica’s construction career also brought unimaginable loss. In 2006, Sarah, the cousin who had introduced her to the industry, was murdered while working in a model home. Sarah was well known throughout the Metroplex real estate community, and navigating her death and the trial that followed profoundly affected Jessica. “She was a beautiful, shining light,” Jessica says. The tragedy also left her with a message of safety she believes real estate professionals should never forget: Always be prepared. Know your exits, remain aware of your surroundings, and do your due diligence when meeting clients you do not know. Life continued to bring transitions. Jessica married a Naval officer, Duston, who also became a Southwest Airlines pilot, creating a family schedule that could change from airline trips to weeks-long military detachments. After the birth of their second child, Jessica was diagnosed with a meningioma and underwent surgery and radiation. During that difficult period, she saw another side of military life: the Dallas Real Producers • 23
But the message stuck. community that rallies when one of its families needs help. Friends organized meals, cared for her older child, and continued showing up throughout treatment and recovery. “My military family, personal friends, and family were absolutely amazing,” she says. “My faith in the Lord brought me through each trial and tribulation.” That support remains one reason Jessica feels such gratitude toward military families and those who serve. It also strengthened a conviction that has become central to how she lives and works: When someone helps you forward, find a way to do the same for somebody else. Today, family remains one of Jessica’s greatest motivations. Her children attend St. Monica and Ursuline, where she values their early exposure to community service and giving back to others. In recent years, she has become intentional about creating healthier boundaries between work and home, allowing her
and Duston more quality time with their daughters and the family’s new dog, Brodie. A key part of that shift was hiring Office Manager Darla McLane, whose support has helped Jessica step away from the day-to-day demands of the business, travel more often with her family, and be more present. With a trusted team behind her, she can travel without feeling tethered to her phone, no longer negotiating contracts from Mexico, coordinating closings from Poland, or scheduling showings from Alaska. The result has been a more sustainable balance between a thriving career and the people who matter most. Professionally, however, her enthusiasm has not faded. “I genuinely love what I do,” Jessica says. She loves the variety within the industry, the specialties available to explore, and the fact that every client brings a different puzzle to solve. Her definition of achievement has changed accordingly. Early on, meeting quota was the benchmark. Now, it is much more personal. “Success is helping a family find what they call their ‘dream home,’” she says. Sometimes that means a first house. Sometimes it is temporary. Often, it requires listening closely enough to recognize needs clients have not yet identified themselves. That lesson goes back to advice Jessica received at 24 from builder David Donaldson. “Ask a question and then shut up,” he told her. Jessica laughs because, as she readily admits, “I do love to talk!”
24 • October 2026
“We should be listening far more than we’re speaking,” she says. “When you truly listen to your clients, you learn what matters to them, sometimes even what they haven’t yet figured out how to articulate themselves.” It is also the advice she carries forward for newer agents: be yourself, invest in relationships, ask good questions, listen carefully, and look for opportunities to help without immediately wondering what will come back in return. That philosophy reflects the many chapters that led Jessica here. Construction taught her how homes come together. Her experience with economics and planning broadened her financial perspective. Marriage and motherhood taught her flexibility. Loss reinforced the importance of awareness and preparation. Her health challenges showed her the power of a community willing to step in. Together, those experiences have taught her that the biggest decisions in real estate are rarely just about property. They are about the lives taking shape inside it. For Jessica, paying forward what others have given her can be as simple as sharing knowledge, supporting a friend, making an introduction, or showing someone an opportunity they could not yet see. “If everyone were just a little more intentional about helping someone else, showing up for a friend, sharing what they know or opening a door for someone who needs it, how much better a place would we live?” Sixteen years into her career, Jessica is still opening those doors. She is grateful to God every day that she gets to do it.

very successful partnership has a foundation.
For Zyre and K. Rene Sullivan, that foundation is not simply real estate. It is faith, family, and a belief that every opportunity they have been given is a blessing from God. As owners of Sullivan Realty Group at eXp Realty, the husband-and-wife team has built a thriving business serving families throughout the Dallas area. Together, they have closed more than $71 million in career sales volume while earning recognition as multiple-time Real Producers honorees. Yet when asked about their success, neither points to awards, rankings, or production. Instead, they point upward. Their journey, they say, would not be possible without God’s guidance and the strength they find in one another. That perspective shapes every decision they make, both personally and professionally. Although they now share the same mission, their stories began in different places. 26 • October 2026
Zyre grew up in Chicago, Illinois, while K. Rene was raised in Lancaster, Texas. Long before real estate entered the picture, each was building skills that would later become invaluable. Zyre owned and operated a clothing store inside a shopping mall for seven years. K. Rene built a successful career as Director of Operations for nine dental offices, developing leadership and organizational skills that continue to benefit their business today. Neither expected real estate to become their calling. For Zyre, the turning point came in 2012 when the shopping mall required costly repairs before renewing his lease. Rather than reinvest in retail, he made a bold decision. “I said no to retail and began studying for real estate,” he recalls.
For K. Rene, the path looked very different. When the dental company she worked for was sold during the COVID pandemic, she unexpectedly found herself without a job. Her original plan had been to pursue real estate part time, but circumstances quickly changed.
We stopped wasting time worrying about what we couldn’t control & F O C U S E D T H AT T I M E AND ENERGY ON W H AT W E C O U L D . ”
“God pushed me to go full time after being laid off,” she says. Looking back, both recognize those unexpected moments as doors opening rather than closing. Their early experiences in the business also taught them lessons that continue to guide them today. For Zyre, one realization changed everything. “I realized the importance of the Serenity Prayer and the difference between what I can and cannot control.” That mindset became a defining principle, not only for business but for life itself. “We stopped wasting time worrying about what we couldn’t control and focused that time and energy on what we could,” they explain. “Biggest game changer, bar none.” For K. Rene, clarity arrived after her very first transaction. “The moment I gave someone the keys to their new home for the first time, I realized how special my job was.” That feeling has never left.
Today, each transaction still represents an opportunity to change someone’s life. Zyre enjoys “helping others and the fact that we are compensated for our contributions,” while K. Rene appreciates that “no transaction is the same. You are always learning new things.” Those different perspectives complement one another perfectly. Perhaps one of the most meaningful milestones in their journey came when K. Rene officially joined the business. “When my wife got licensed, it took me from self-employed to a business owner,” Zyre says. Together, they transformed individual careers into a shared vision. That partnership has allowed them to build not only a successful company, but also the life they hoped to create for their family.

Another lesson, shared by mentor Tierny Jordan, has also shaped the way they approach business.
When asked how they define success, neither mentions sales volume. “The ability to be at all of our kids’ games and performances while still being top-ranked REALTORS® in our market.” To them, success is having the freedom to be fully present both at work and at home. That freedom became especially meaningful during one of the most difficult seasons of their lives. In 2023, they experienced unimaginable loss; saying goodbye to four beloved family members, including Zyre’s father and three grandparents. Most people would understandably struggle simply to keep moving forward. Instead, through faith and perseverance, the Sullivans experienced the most successful month of their careers during that same year. 28 • October 2026
“It proved that God will never forsake us regardless of whatever may be going on around us.” That experience strengthened not only their faith but also their perspective: that their business exists for a purpose far greater than transactions. “Family. Freedom. The impact we have on the lives of those we work with and growth that takes place year over year,” they say when asked what motivates them today. This year, they have set an ambitious goal of impacting 100 families and building relationships with 100 business partners. Notice they say “impact,” not simply “serve.”
That philosophy influences every interaction, whether they are helping firsttime buyers, experienced homeowners, or business partners. Outside of real estate, family remains their greatest priority. They enjoy reading together and proudly support their daughters’ activities. Their oldest daughter serves as a sophomore drill team lieutenant, while their youngest has become the number one volleyball recruit in her program. Being present for those moments matters just as much as any closing.
That distinction reflects the heart behind their business.
When offering advice to newer agents, the Sullivans return to the principles that have carried them through every season.
“We value relationships over transactions,” they explain. “No one cares what you know until they know that you care.”
“Understand the Serenity Prayer. Market your business every day, non-negotiable. Value relationships over transactions.”
“You can’t withdraw from an empty bank. You have to deposit value before you ask for anything.” It is advice they have put into practice throughout their careers. In the end, Zyre and K. Rene hope their legacy extends far beyond real estate. “We want to be remembered for positively impacting the lives of more people than can be counted,” they say. “And for using our industry knowledge to simplify what others might think to be complicated.” It is a legacy rooted in service, strengthened by partnership, and sustained by faith. For the Sullivans, every milestone, every family they help, and every success they celebrate points back to the same source. Without God’s blessings and without each other, they know none of it would have been possible.
