RISING STAR

Harris Melanie

14 • May 2025

Real Estate Rescue WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN PHOTOS BY JIN KIM, URSPECIAL

Melanie Harris never expected to find herself in real estate. After years of working as an executive director in senior living, overseeing assisted living and memory care communities, she made a leap of faith—a leap that has led to an incredibly fulfilling career. “My experience in senior living gave me a deep understanding of compassion, service, and helping families navigate major life transitions,” Melanie reflects. “These are the same skills I bring to real estate. I take pride in guiding clients with care and dedication, whether they are finding their dream home or making important housing decisions for their loved ones.” Originally from Arkansas, Melanie earned her degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and now calls Dallas home. However, her heart remains tied to her roots, with a second home just outside Hot Springs on Lake Ouachita—her “happy place”—where she can fish and unwind. “I could fish from sunup to sundown and still want more,” she laughs. “It’s my ultimate escape.” Melanie may be new to real estate, but her impact is already undeniable. In just one year, she has closed an impressive $10.5 million in sales. “It has been a whirlwind of success and milestones!” she exclaims. “Sometimes, I have to stop and ask myself, ‘Is this really my life?’ I’m beyond grateful for every opportunity and truly love every second of it.” At the core of Melanie’s success is her deep faith. “My faith in Christ is my foundation,” she shares. “It shapes the way I approach my work, my relationships, and my purpose in life. I strive to be a light for others, using my success not just for personal gain, but to give back and make a meaningful impact.” Giving back is something Melanie takes seriously—especially when it comes to

animal rescue. A devoted advocate for dogs in need, she dedicates a portion of every real estate transaction to supporting local rescues, particularly the Dallas Street Dog Advocates (DSDA). “My passion for animal rescue drives me to be a voice for dogs that don’t have one,” she says. “Every dog deserves a loving home. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting, please visit www.DSDA.org.” Her love for dogs isn’t just a cause—it’s a way of life. “My three rescue dogs completely rule my world!” she admits. “They bring me so much joy, and I’m grateful to be in a position to help more animals find the same love and security.”

While her passion for real estate and animal rescue fuels her, it’s the relationships she builds that truly make her job special. “My favorite part about being a real estate agent is the people,” Melanie shares. “I love being a trusted guide during such an important milestone. Real estate is so much more than a career for me—it’s my passion. Even though I started later in life, I feel incredibly blessed to wake up every day and do what I love.” Her first year in the business has been full of surprises. “I remember telling my husband I would never work weekends and had zero intention of hosting open Dallas Real Producers • 15

houses,” she recalls. “Fast forward a year later, and I absolutely LOVE hosting open houses! I get so excited to meet incredible people, and I actually look forward to spending my weekends in real estate. Who would’ve thought?!” When asked to define success, Melanie’s answer is clear: “Success isn’t just about financial milestones—it’s about living with purpose, integrity, and impact. For me, it means building meaningful relationships, serving others with compassion, and using my talents to make a difference. Whether I’m helping a client find their dream home or giving a rescue dog a second chance, I want to know I’ve uplifted and encouraged those around me.” Melanie’s commitment to service is something she hopes to pass on to the next generation of agents. “My advice to an up-and-coming real estate professional is to focus on building genuine relationships, not just transactions,” she advises. “Success in this industry comes from truly listening to clients, understanding their needs, and serving with honesty and dedication. Real estate is so much more than just buying and selling homes— when you approach it with heart and integrity, success will naturally follow.” Looking ahead, Melanie has big goals. “This year is all about growth— expanding my impact in the Dallas luxury real estate market while deepening my commitment to giving back. I’m especially excited about continuing to donate a portion of my transactions to animal rescues. Every deal closed is another opportunity to make a difference.” Outside of work, Melanie enjoys golfing, playing Madden football with her husband, and cheering on both college and NFL teams. “A little friendly competition is good for a marriage!” she jokes.

“I want to be remembered as a top-tier real estate professional and a dedicated advocate for animal rescue. My hope is to inspire others to use their success to make a meaningful impact and give back to their communities.”

As she reflects on her journey, Melanie is filled with gratitude—for her family, her faith, her career, and the opportunities ahead. “I aspire to leave a legacy of both excellence and compassion,” she says.

With a heart for service and an unstoppable drive, Melanie Harris is proving that real estate isn’t just about homes—it’s about the lives we touch along the way.

REPUBLIC TITLE A TEAM YOU CAN TRUST WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN PHOTOS BY JIN KIM, URSPECIAL

18 • May 2025

“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” –Originally by Theodore Roosevelt; Popularized by Zig Ziglar If you ask Janet Allen, Senior Vice President/Residential Business Development at Republic Title, the secret to success, she won’t point to personal achievements or an individual accolade. Instead, she’ll tell you that real success isn’t about one person—it’s about a team. “It is not about me,” she emphasizes. “It’s about what we all do together to serve the people in our path of life and work.” And that philosophy makes all the difference. Building relationships, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that every client, real estate agent, lender, and builder has the support they need to navigate the complex world of real estate is central to the mission of Republic Title.

The Power of a Team Approach Republic Title stands apart in the industry because of its commitment to teamwork. Unlike other title companies, Republic Title is fully departmentalized, meaning every aspect of the transaction—from contract to post-closing—is handled by a specialized expert. “We are the only title company that is fully departmentalized from contract to post-closing and everything in between,” Janet explains. “Our mission is to provide value to every customer we serve through proven experience, dedicated service, and lasting relationships. It’s not just about one closer or one sales rep. Our customers have an entire team of specialists dedicated to making sure their transactions go smoothly.”

That commitment to service and excellence is evident throughout their team. Republic Title’s business development team includes Ken Callahan and Kylie Moore in Frisco; Stephanie

education, tools, and resources. The human connection in the automated, fast paced, and everchanging world of residential real estate. Each of them plays a role in ensuring that Republic Title remains a trusted name in the industry. “We appreciate each and every opportunity to help agents succeed,” Janet says. “It’s about fostering relationships that last, not just completing a transaction.” And that’s exactly why top producers trust Republic Title. “If you value accuracy, speed, and a team that truly has your back, we’re the perfect fit,” she says. “We don’t just close deals— we proactively solve problems, communicate clearly, and create a seamless experience for everyone involved.”

A Legacy of Trust Republic Title has been serving real estate professionals since 1991 and has consistently been named one of the top places to work by the Dallas Morning News, Dallas Business Journal and named “Best Title Company” by Lifestyle Magazine.

Janet and the other members of the Republic Title team are proof that success isn’t measured in personal accolades but in the impact you have on others. Guiding real estate professionals through seamless transactions and focusing on people is standard practice at Republic Title. “When our teams thrive, we’re able to serve our clients at the highest level and make a real impact,” says Janet. For those looking for more than just a title company, but a true partner in their business, Republic Title—led by leaders like Janet Allen—is the team to trust.

COVER STORY

Skylar

Champion WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN PHOTOS BY JIN KIM, URSPECIAL

22 • May 2025

From the Classroom to the Closing Table Skylar Champion never imagined her career would take her from a kindergarten classroom to the highstakes world of Dallas real estate. But looking back, it all makes sense. The drive, the dedication, the ability to multitask and adapt— she honed those skills long before she ever set foot in a listing appointment. Raised in Fort Worth, Skylar grew up with real estate in her blood. Her mother was a real estate agent, so she saw firsthand the hustle, the long hours, and the way a great agent could shape a community. But her own path started in education. After earning her Master’s degree in Education from Texas Christian University,

she spent years teaching kindergarten in Plano ISD and Highland Park ISD. It was only when she and her husband, Austin, were building their home in Lakewood that real estate called to her in a way she couldn’t ignore. “I became close with the real estate agent we were working with and offered to be her assistant,” Skylar recalls. “But she saw potential in me and admired my market knowledge. The rest is history.” That leap of faith launched a career that has since placed her among the top agents in East Dallas. As the principal and founder of the Skylar Champion Real Estate Group

with Allie Beth Allman & Associates, she’s built a business that’s more than about just closing deals. “It’s all about relationships,” she says. “Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest financial decisions someone makes, and I get to be part of that journey. It’s an honor.” Skylar’s work ethic is relentless—a trait that has propelled her to success in one of the most competitive markets in the country. With over $43 million in sales volume last year alone, she has been recognized as a D Best Top Producer, an Advocate Top Realtor, and the #1 Allie Beth Allman agent in East Dallas.

But for Skylar, success is about more than numbers. It’s about giving back. “I not only donate a portion of my income to local schools and organizations, but I also volunteer my time,” she says. “There is so much need, and I love being able to do my part.” This deep connection to her community is what sets her apart. She understands that real estate isn’t just about properties—it’s about people. “So many of my clients have become close friends.” That, along with so much repeat business and her high referral rate, is what she considers the biggest compliment she can receive. Dallas Real Producers • 23

Skylar’s biggest challenge? “Inventory. There are so many people moving here from all over the country,” she explains. “DFW’s job market is strong, and it’s only going to keep growing. Even when the rest of the nation slows down, we remain steady.” When Skylar steps away from the business, she finds time to be present for her family—her husband, Austin, founder and a partner of Champion, LLP, their daughter Katherine, a volleyball and cheer enthusiast at Long Middle School, and their son John, who keeps busy with baseball and robotics at Lakewood Elementary. “Being a real estate agent gives me the flexibility to volunteer at their schools and be there when they need me,” she says. “That’s something I wouldn’t trade for anything.” Skylar also makes time for the things that bring her joy outside of work— cooking, playing Mahjong, taking walks around White Rock Lake and cheering on her kids at various sporting events.

If you ask her what success looks like, she’ll tell you— half-jokingly—”a home with a swim-up bar in Tahiti.” But in reality, it’s simpler than that.

is straightforward: “What you put in is what you get out,” she says. “Take the high road because hard work pays off.”

“I want my kids to be proud of me and admire my work ethic,” she says. “I don’t want them to ever be embarrassed or negatively impacted by my reputation. Their approval matters the most.”

It’s a philosophy that has served her well—one that has taken her from a kindergarten classroom to leading one of the top real estate teams in Dallas. And if her track record is any indication, the best is yet to come.

For those looking to follow in her footsteps, her advice

INSPIRATIONAL AGENT

HARD WORK PAYS OFF

WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN PHOTOS BY JIN KIM, URSPECIAL

26 • May 2025

DEBBIE

SORIANO Real estate success stories are often measured in transactions closed and homes sold. But for Debbie Soriano, it’s about hard work making anything possible. From selling homemade salsa to building a career where she’s rubbing elbows with social media influencers and luxury buyers, Debbie’s story is one you must hear to believe.

lenges. Debbie was no stranger to hard work, but entering the luxury market as a relatively new agent meant proving herself in a competitive space.

From the Classroom to Closings

“When you’re young in this industry, especially in high-end real estate, people assume you lack experience,” she says. “But I knew that skill, strategy, and execution would speak louder than years in the business.”

A Texas native, Debbie was born in Houston and raised in San Antonio, where her passion for community and connection first took root. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she cheered her way through college, then transferred to UTSA before embarking on a career in education. For 16 years, she dedicated herself to teaching—first as a classroom teacher and later as an instructional coach for secondary math teachers. But something was pulling at her. Having grown up with a father who was a luxury architect in San Antonio’s prestigious Dominion community, Debbie had always harbored an interest in real estate. The elegant homes, the intricate designs, the thrill of bringing a vision to life—it all captivated her. In May 2021, she finally took the leap, leaving behind the classroom and stepping into the fastpaced world of real estate. “Walking away from teaching wasn’t easy, but I knew in my heart it was time,” Debbie recalls. “I had a dream, and I wasn’t going to let fear hold me back.”

Turning Grit into Growth Transitioning from education to real estate came with its own set of chal-

And she proved it. Through relentless dedication, Debbie not only secured listings in some of Dallas-Fort Worth’s most sought-after communities— Southlake, Westlake, and Bartonville— but also consistently exceeded expectations. She became known for her sharp negotiation skills, innovative marketing strategies, and an ability to make every transaction seamless for her clients. Still, there was something unique about the way she approached real estate. For Debbie, success wasn’t just about selling homes.

“I wake up every morning grateful for the opportunity to serve others,” she says. “Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest decisions in someone’s life. I don’t take that lightly.”

Building a Brand Through Connection Debbie’s natural ability to connect with people has led to some incredible opportunities. Through networking and building genuine relationships, Dallas Real Producers • 27

“I want my kids to see that anything is possible with faith and hard work,” she says. “I’m showing them that you don’t have to settle—that you can chase your dreams and make them a reality.” Through every challenge, including one of the most difficult personal seasons of her life, Debbie has remained steadfast. Even during her highest sales year, she was privately battling struggles that few knew about. “There were days I didn’t think I could keep going,” she admits. “But I had clients depending on me, kids looking up to me, and a God who never let me down.”

Defining Success on Her Own Terms For Debbie, success isn’t just about closing deals—it’s about impact. “Success, to me, is knowing I’ve made a difference,” she says. “It’s about serving my clients well, building relationships that last, and using my blessings to bless others.” That desire to give back is why she’s passionate about the Forever Family Rescue Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to finding forever homes for pets. Whether she’s helping a family find their dream home or a rescue dog find a loving owner, Debbie is committed to making a difference in the lives of others.

What’s Next? she’s found herself working with social media influencers and high-profile clients. But in typical Debbie fashion, she attributes it all to staying authentic and doing the work. “I didn’t chase influencers—I built relationships. I showed up, I provided value, and the connections came naturally,” she explains. “When people see that you genuinely care and you know your stuff, they trust you.” Her hustle, however, didn’t start with real estate. In fact, it goes all the way back to her days of selling homemade salsa. To make ends meet while building her career, Debbie would spend hours making and selling her 28 • May 2025

signature salsa, determined to provide for her family while pursuing her dreams. “I did what I had to do,” she laughs. “If that meant selling salsa during the day and showing houses at night, so be it. Hard work never scared me.”

Faith, Family, and Finding a Way As much as she pours into her business, Debbie’s heart belongs to her four children. Known affectionately as “D4” (Debbie and her crew of four), her kids—Katelyn, Aaron, Emily, and Troy—are her driving force. Balancing real estate with being a single mom isn’t easy, but for Debbie, it’s a responsibility she embraces wholeheartedly.

Debbie has big goals for the future. She dreams of becoming the go-to real estate agent for Southlake and continuing to elevate the client experience in luxury real estate. Recently joining forces with Engel & Völkers and Roxann Taylor, she wants to keep growing, giving, and proving that no dream is too big. “I always say, ‘I am the epitome of overcoming the impossible.’ Because I truly believe that with a little faith and a lot of heart, there’s always a way.” From salsa sales to Southlake estates, Debbie Soriano’s journey is one of resilience, relationship-building, and relentless pursuit of excellence. And if her story is any indication, she’s just getting started.

CELEBRATING LEADERS

Gill

GINGER Shaping the Future WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN PHOTOS BY JIN KIM, URSPECIAL

There are those who sell homes, and then there are those who shape an industry. Ginger Gill falls squarely in the latter category. With over two decades of experience in real estate, Ginger is more than just a broker—she’s a mentor, a problem solver, and above all, a servant leader. As the Broker of Record for Ebby Halliday Real Estate, LLC, overseeing Ebby Halliday, Dave PerryMiller, and Williams Trew, her impact reaches into the hearts and careers of the agents she helps guide every day. Born and raised in Dallas, Ginger is a third-generation Dallasite. She graduated from Highland Park High School before earning a B.A. in Clinical Child Psychology from Stephens College. But long before she became a leader in the real estate industry, she was a stayat-home mom in Carlsbad, California, raising her two children, Daniel and Maggie. Her life was filled with PTA meetings, Girl Scouts, Junior League projects, and the full-time job of being a dance mom, water polo mom, and

30 • May 2025

even a surfer and skater mom—because, as she says with a smile, “It was SoCal.”

Her journey into real estate began in California, where she held a license for two years before returning to Dallas after a divorce. Determined to build a new life for herself and her high school-aged children, Ginger stepped into real estate with Ebby Halliday’s Highland Park office. “I say I was retired the first half of my adult life, and I’ve spent the second half selling real estate,” she says. What started as a career shift quickly became a passion. Ginger fell in love with residential real estate, particularly helping buyers and sellers in East Dallas and Uptown. But it wasn’t long before she realized her passion extended beyond just closing deals—her real joy came from helping agents succeed. “I love helping agents,” she says simply. “So many times, they’re overwhelmed— struggling with a difficult transaction, a challenging

client, or an issue with another agent. I love being the person who helps them find a solution that works for everyone.”

“I love helping agents. So many times, they’re overwhelmed— struggling with a difficult transaction, a challenging client, or an issue with another agent. I love being the person who helps them find a solution that works for everyone.” Ginger’s expertise in contracts and ethical practices has made her an invaluable resource to agents navigating the ever-evolving real estate landscape. “I love teaching contracts,” she says, “and I love teaching the Code of Ethics and how to follow them.” In a time of major industry shifts, she’s become a guiding force, ensuring that agents not only comply with the latest regulations but also thrive in an environment where many are struggling to adapt.

Her influence extends well beyond her brokerage. Ginger serves on the NAR Board of Directors, is a regional vice president for Texas REALTORS®, and sits on the board of directors at MetroTex. She is also an active member of the Housing Opportunity Committee for NAR and the Professional Standards Committee for the state of Texas. In addition, she represents her company on the NTREIS Board of Directors and is a CE-certified teacher, educating agents on everything from contracts to broker responsibility.

“Be truthful and honest with all clients and agents. Learn that sometimes, you need to say no to a listing or a buyer. And never, ever count your commission before closing and funding.” Her commitment to serving others was put to the ultimate test three years ago when she underwent a grueling 360-degree spinal surgery, requiring 17 fusions. The procedure left her in the ICU for ten days and in the hospital for over a month. “I almost didn’t make it,” she says, reflecting on the experience. “The recovery was brutal, but my family and my agents carried me through it. They never let me give up.” Even in the midst of pain and recovery, she found 32 • May 2025

purpose in staying connected to her agents. “They let me pretend I was running the office while I was on lots of painkillers,” she laughs, “because they knew I needed to feel useful—even though I wasn’t.” That kind of support, she says, is what makes her job more than just a career—it’s a community. For Ginger, success is measured in the lives she touches. “At the end of my life, I want to be able to say that I made a difference,” she shares. “That I helped people when they needed help and listened when they needed a friend. Success to me is having a positive impact on people’s lives and helping make the world a better place.” That servant-hearted philosophy is the driving force behind everything she does. She believes in honesty, integrity, and the power of simply doing the right thing. “The best advice I ever received in real estate? Slow down and think everything through. Don’t make snap decisions. Ask great questions, and never be afraid to say, ‘I don’t know, but I’ll find out.’” For up-and-coming agents, Ginger’s advice is simple yet profound: “Be truthful and honest with all clients and agents. Learn that sometimes, you need to say no to a listing or a buyer. And never, ever count your commission before closing and funding.” Despite her busy schedule, Ginger still makes time for the people and passions that matter most. She cherishes moments with her family— her 94-year-old mother,

her children, and her two beautiful granddaughters. She stays connected with her Junior League friends, Women’s Club, and Garden Club, as well as her lifelong friends from high school. Growing up in an outdoorsy family, she spent summers water skiing, snow skiing, snorkeling, and eventually scuba diving. “I was an ice skater and a competitive swimmer, too,” she adds— proving that her drive to succeed and push boundaries isn’t a recent development. As for the future of Dallas-Fort Worth real

estate, Ginger remains optimistic. “The people here are amazing,” she says. “Dallascites are the nicest people. And no matter how much the industry changes, I know this—real estate will always be about relationships.” Ginger Gill isn’t just leading a brokerage; she’s shaping a generation of agents. With her wealth of experience, her passion for ethics and education, and her commitment to serving others, she is more than a leader—she is a legacy in the making.

Real Producers FAQ Real Producers magazine is a national franchise that started in Indianapolis in 2015 and is now in over 130 markets across the nation and continues to spread rapidly. DFW has four Real Producers communities: North Dallas, Dallas, North Fort Worth, and Fort Worth Real Producers.

Q: What is the goal of s?

Q: What does it cost to be featured as an RP Top Agent?

A: We believe that we are better together. When we surround ourselves with other successful, like-minded people, we grow to new heights. Real Producers is a platform that brings together the most elite individuals in DFW real estate. We take the highest-producing real estate agents and RP-vetted businesses in every market and build an exclusive community around that group. We share their stories, successes, and upcoming events, and we educate – really anything that will connect, inform, and inspire, we put in our monthly publication.

A: Zero, zilch, zippo, nada, nil. How, you ask? Because of the businesses that your peers have recommended, who partner with Real Producers and invest in this community to support you. These companies have all been recommended by top agents and have been vetted by us to ensure they are of the highest quality. So instead of you paying $5k - $10k for this feature… they cover all those costs for you! Pretty incredible, right?

At Real Producers, we believe we are one person, one conversation, or one idea away from everything in our business and life-changing. With this powerhouse community, it happens all the time.

Q: How do you become a Real Producers Top Agent? A: In all of DFW, there are roughly 60,000 licensed agents, meaning there are ~15,000 agents in each of our four communities. We rank all those agents based on their yearly MLS sales volume. In years past, we congratulated the Top 500 Agents, and we still are, but in 2025, we are adding a second group to the community… the RP Top 1000! These agents are in the top 6%.

Q: Who receives Real Producers magazine? A: The Top 1000 agents in each community will receive the digital magazine for the year. The Top 500 agents will also receive the magazine physically in their mailbox. Our RP Vetted Businesses also receive the magazine physically and digitally.

Q: Can I be featured? A: If you are in the Top 1000, you have the opportunity to be featured! We love nominations and take them seriously. If you’d like to be considered for a feature, or if you would like to nominate someone, you can email team@dfwrealproducers.com.

Q: Does Real Producers host events? A: Yes, we host many different events throughout the year! Some large 400-800 people and some 75250 people. We do Social Events, an Awards Gala, and Masterclass Events. You can see quick recaps of some of our events under the “Events” tab on our website. For our events, we invite the top 1000 real estate agents and our RP-vetted businesses. The Top 1000 agents are allowed to invite agents on their team, as well. These events are an incredible opportunity to connect with the best in DFW real estate. It is amazing to see the power in the connection made at these events. Be on the lookout for your exclusive invites!

Q: Who are the RP Vetted Businesses? A: They are some of the best businesses in DFW in their category! You can find them listed in our index and their ad in the magazine. We don’t just find these businesses off the street, nor do we work with all businesses that approach us. Each business has been recommended by your peers, the top-producing real estate agents in the market. Our team will further vet every business to make sure they are a good fit and bring value to our community. Our goal is to create a powerhouse network, not only for the best real estate agents in the area but for the best businesses, as well, so we can grow stronger together.

Q: Can I nominate an agent or recommend a business? A: Absolutely! Email your nominations and recommendations to team@dfwrealproducers.com.
